I live nearby and there's ALWAYS a line at all times that this place is open. I kept wondering what the hype was all about when I first moved to the area! I found it on Yelp and they have great reviews and I finally experienced it for myself. I stopped by today and picked up coffee for my sis and me. I got an iced "med" (16oz) Eclipse and a hot "med"(16oz)crater for my sis! Let me tell you, when I took that first sip... I went straight to the moon lol. But seriously! I tried a sip of my Sis' too and I loved them both! Starbucks who?! lol this is my new go to for my caffeine intake/craving! This is my favorite drive thru coffee place in all of San Antonio. You can approach from either side and there's a menu next to the window. I've had iced lattes, hot coffee, kolaches and breakfast tacos and everything is so good. I've never had a long wait and their staff is incredible nice and engaging. First off, I cannot believe it's taken me almost 3y to make an review, I've been a Yelper for about 15y! We moved to Copper Canyon 2y ago and lived about a year in Stone Oak while the house was being built... needless to say, we've been frequenting Apollo's for at least 3y and by "frequent" my husband is here 3-4x/wk! I'm here about 1x/wk on my own with our little boy who LoVES their Chocolate muffins and Italian sodas or kids temp Cocoa. My go to is a Cosmo (short & hot) or their iced Pomegranate green tea (large). It may not be 5* every single time, however more often than not it is 5*. I think it's especially rude of our community in particular to come on here only to write a bad review when you admit right in your review this used to be your favorite spot. That's just ugly and unnecessary for a small business and the predominantly young staff that work here. More so for those of you who claim you used to be Baristas, come on now... seriously??? As someone who was actually in the Service/Hospitality Industry for over 20y as a server, bartender, and barista... 3 of my daughters have also been baristas... As such, you know from personal experience that every day is not a 5* and every day, every staff member isn't going to be at their very best... they're human beings after all not robots! But overall, yes, this place is 5* and we will keep coming back to support a local business in our community even on the not so perfect days because that's what being in community with people is all about. And one last thing... to complain about the straws or lid opening and really deduct stars over something so insignificant or easily resolved like asking for another lid or straw...or asking to make something half as sweet if you know that particular drink traditionally runs sweet... that's on you, not the baristas! Their seasonal drinks and sweetened cold foam are pretty good too, just not my regular order. They have great staff who are nice and professional- which we appreciate. I've been having skin issues, so I wrote to the coffee places we visit asking what kind of water filtration they use. Only Apollo answered, and I was given the system they use - so no fluoride, chlorine or other bad things in their water. This was helpful to my skin issue, and I appreciate their transparency. The smoothest and creamiest matcha latte I've ever had! Former coffee shop and specialty tea shop barista here, and I was super surprised and delighted by this hole in the wall coffee shop. This place was really easy to drive by as it's right off the highway in front of a wood cutting yard and doesn't look like your average coffee shop. But as they say, looks can be deceiving. The drinks were S-tier quality and the baristas were prompt with our order. The menu isn't extensive, but covers all of your basics, naming a few of their unique beverages off of the Signature Series in line with their astrology theme. We ordered an Astro and and Iced Green Tea Latte off of the Signature Series. The Astro is an Irish Cream Latte, the cream super rich to pair quite nicely with the espresso but subtle enough as to not overpower the drink. It was steamed perfectly, easily one of the smoothest espresso lattes I've had, very well executed. The Iced Green Tea Latte, however, really was the star of the show, and no matter how fantastic the Irish Cream Latte was it just couldn't compare, but maybe that's just because I've always been more of a tea fan. The grade of matcha they used was top of the line and they did not skimp on the amount either. You could fully taste and appreciate the matcha itself with each sip instead of having a more diluted flavor as is what happens with a lot of coffee shop matcha drinks. The whole milk was rich and creamy and complimented the natural bitterness of the matcha, evening the flavor profiles all too perfectly. To top everything off, these drinks are insanely inexpensive. We spent $8.34 on these two 16 oz lattes and it felt like a steal with how incredible they were. Again, as a former barista, I cannot praise these lattes enough. Though Apollo's Coffee is slightly out of the way compared to other shops, I cannot recommend it enough. These drinks are perfection. read more

I've been going here for at least two months now, since I've moved back to San Antonio. I really liked it at first, staff was nice, prices were awesome for coffee! Every time I've gone recently though, they always mess my drinks up. The staff also doesn't remember regulars. They're always fake nice now and not genuine. Drove 25 mins there on Mother's Day for a treat. When I got home I realized they didn't give me what I ordered. So disappointed.

I ordered a sticky toffee latte large, which is a 32 ounce with four shots. It was the perfect balance of strong coffee and sweetness. Service was good as well. I took the time to turn into this cute little stand on the side of 281 (heading south from bulverde) with a large red astronaut logo. It's a simple and clean logo and the operation is simple too. You drive through, order, and go! Cool concept and I love it! Also they have two sides of the stand to place your order. I ordered an Iced caramel Oat Latte. Apollos is a blink and you miss it place off 281. If you want to go here, put it in your gps or you will miss it. Apollos was an answer to those of us in the area that don't want Dunkin and starbucks is just too busy. It can be slow to be honest. They will have two people in there churning away but if you are in a rush, don't go during peak hours. It's a shipping container so I don't know what to say about the ambiance! Coffee is great (the frozen coffee is to die for), location is convenient, but the customer service is always a hit or miss. Apollo's coffee is right off of 281 in Bulverde and can be tricky to get in and out of with cars speeding by, but is way more convenient than going into town and getting coffee. I've never waited longer than 4 minutes to get my coffee, although I go at random times during the day and never at peak times. Having a drive thru is a game-changer! I love not having to leave my car. I don't know what it is, but I've had unfortunate experiences twice here with employees being straight up rude or getting my order wrong and saying it was me who ordered wrong. The one time an employee was rude, she did apologize for it, but me being the awkward person I am and hating conflict, it made me want to just avoid it all together. read more

Apollo's had their grand opening last week! My usual coffee place was closed yesterday morning so it was the perfect opportunity to give Apollo's a try. Conveniently located off 281 near Bulverde Rd, at the former location of the Coffee Pail, this coffee drive-thru received a much needed face lift. The small building has been adorned with barn wood, has clean modern lines and is very attractive. Drive thru windows for ordering are on both sides of the building to serve twice the amount of customers. I'm happy to announce that they've also fixed the entrance so you no longer need 4x4 to get in and out of here. :) The four stars were all for fantastic service! Our cups of sunshine were promptly served with a smile by two pretty young ladies. My husband and I ordered the 16 oz. lattes--mine with almond milk and an extra shot (for only $.50 more), but even with the extra shot it was difficult to detect the espresso flavor. It wasn't quite caffeinated enough to give me my morning boost and I was hunting more for that deep, rich roast flavor. My husband also mentioned his coffee was more dessert-like than he preferred. This place is great though, if you prefer sweeter coffee drinks. They serve their signature 'space' drinks with added syrups and have several flavor combinations. I will probably stop again to try their Americano or signature roasts, but for someone in need of deep caffeination most mornings, this would only be an occasional visit for me. read more
