Service is absolutely terrible in the bar area. Had to get up and go to the bar and order our beverages, waited 15 minutes and then asked again and then we finally got them. When we got our pizza, no one ever came back to ask if we needed anything or if the pizza was done right, which it wasn't. I'm really not one to complain but this place needs some work. Nick & Alpha House are an institution in Apollo Beach. I love the pizza & salad buffet & have participated in it more times than I will admit. The smell of hot fresh pizza... nothing else quite like it. The pizza is solid, thin crisp crust, hearty fresh toppings, robust sauce & plenty of cheese. Inside is a bit dated, with high partitions on one side of the restaurant. I love the bar area, nice & dimly lit, some booths, tables & decent sized bar. From the outside this restaurant is deceptive & appears smaller than it is. Beyond the bar is a dance floor and another dining room and past that a banquet room. Go ahead & park in front or back or wherever you can squeeze in. The salads are fresh, crisp, light and inviting. The lasagna, parmigiano dishes, pastas... are like grandma made. All very tasty, not overly spicy just spot on good! Everything appears to be made from scratch except the noodles ( actual pasta). Clean, typically friendly, family owned restaurant, that has withstood the test of time & keeps going. The prices are fair & the portions are generous. What's a girl to do? Love pizza, love Italian & other cultural food, the journey is part of the enjoyment. read more

Heart attack waiting to happen.. Eat here. Locals think this place is wonderful. Travel a small distance and get better. How difficult to put 78 cents worth of pasta, throw on canned sauce, and then top with cheese and melt. I will give you the salad is good, but again iceberg lettuce. Watch the staff. They like to 'sample' as cooking. Where have those hands been ? Also, went to the restroom, and one female staff person with long bushy somewhat curly hair did not wash her hands when leaving. Went with a very large group. Our table still had not been served when the rest of our group was finished and leaving. The owner, although did give a discount when pushed, was rude and unapologetic. Food was just ok but not worth waiting well over an hour for. read more

Let me tell you I love this place for the pizza.. unfortunately for me this trip I decided to get a burger. After a long day of working I was starving. As soon as I took a bite into the burger I could taste the spoiled meat. I quietly spit it into a napkin and put it on the table and it happened to be the same time the waitress was coming to the table. She then said oh, you don't like the burger? I told her the meat was bad. She then asked me if I would like something else which I politely replied no I'm fine thank you. I'm assuming she did what she was supposed to and told the cooks.. I then heard a gentleman loudly ask who had the burger? To which I turned around and he was talking to guest leaving.. the lady replied I did. He asked how it was and she said it was very good thank you.. I don't EVER send back food but it's just plain rude whether a manager or cook to blatantly ask so loudly as if I were wrong for sending it back. I've worked in the kitchen as a sous chef for more than 5 years and worked fine dining kitchens for 15 years. I know bad meat when I smell and taste it. Please, check the quality of your product before you cook it. read more

Lived in AB for over 8 years and this was always our go-to place for awesome pizza, side salads and yeast rolls. Don't care much for the their Italian dishes, since their sauce tastes like it came out of a Chef Boyardee can. But their salads are amazing with red ripe tomatoes and house dressing. And my picky husband says they have the best pizza around. The decor is in dire need of an update and parking isn't great, but given their location, that can't be helped. Found this place on accident after driving around Apollo Beach. The bar section has a dark/dive atmosphere. Order a pizza with 3 toppings and it was surprisingly good. Not greasy and perfectly cooked. read more

This place may not be the most updated but there is a historic feel there. A local, beachy and family feel. I liked their food and wine specials. The spaghetti is so big 2 or 3 people could eat 1 serving. The attached bar area has polka or other live music and Snowbirds often frequent so it is fun to see the Sr. Citizens dancing, drinking and carrying on. The service was always personal and they always gave me extra bread to take home. I miss this place, I consider it an 'off the beaten path diamond in the rough'. read more

Stumbled upon here after getting a massage at the massage place next door (great place also!). I'm actually sitting here eating as I type. Initial observations, place isn't much to look at from the outside but inside gives me a sense of comfort like I'm at my nona's house with the wood paneling on the wall. I was seated immediately for lunch and ordered a cold mug of beer for a very reasonable price. The waitress also brought water without me asking for it (bonus points). The menu is extensive which allows for many people to choose different things. I opted for the lunch buffet of salad and pizza for an amazing price. The salad bar has a wide variety of choices and looked rather fresh which was welcoming. The pizza was probably not as fresh but I chose 3 separate types of pizza to get a feel for which one I liked most. The crusts all had a nice crisp texture with the perfect amount of chewiness. Probably could have laid off of the sauce a bit (a personal preference) but it had a nice spicy flavor. Overall my only problem was the temperature of the pizza, a bit cold but overall was a pretty good experience. I would love to have dinner here. read more

Walked into an almost empty restaurant at 8 pm on Sunday (one couple at a table) and stood at receptionists desk for over 2 minutes while 2 servers appeared to be talking business behind kitchen counter, totally ignoring us. Evidently the servers business is more important than the customer. I've been a good return customer, but will not be back again. read more

Great food!! Anything you order is good and comes in big portions. If you order any pasta dishes you are more than likely going to have to take half of it home. The fried mushrooms are great too. The mixed drinks are however very small and costly so I would not bother with ordering drinks here. :( If they served bigger mixed drinks for the price then I would def. be here more. read more

We've given this place a couple of tries and been disappointed both times. The first time we were virtually ignored by the staff to the point of feeling invisible. We were finally served at the bar but we felt like more like a bother than a welcomed customer. The second time there were plenty of empty seats; however, they were all reserved, so we again decided to sit at the bar. But as we approached 2 empty seats, the bartender put 2 glasses upside down right in front of us saying they were also reserved. We've never heard of reserving seats at a bar. The staff is rude and unprofessional and the place is dark and dreary. We have no idea about the food since we've never even been able to get anyone to serve us. We've had it with this unfriendly place! read more

Took friend for a THIN Crusted pizza Friday afternoon. Bragged about how good the thin crusted pizza was. Ordered two large THIN crusted pizza from the regular waiter that's there all the time. When our pizza arrived they were THICK crusted pizza. He looked at the order and said he made a mistake and would reorder. We had other places to go so we ate that pizza. Did not like it at all, but always loved the thin one. That is not the first time he has screwed up our ordered. We and all our friend will not go back there until they Fire that waiter. read more

This place is a trip literally! The decor is from the 70s. The Sun City retirees come up to dance on Saturday nights to a singer who belts out 50s-80s pop tunes. (They also have Elvis nights.) Last week when I was there a woman who was in her late 70s was stuffing dollar bills into the singer's waist band! My husband and I take our 2 year old grandson up there for dinner when we babysit as he loves the music and the dinner rolls. I recommend a reservation if you want to see the singers as it is in the bar side and fills up quickly on the weekends. (The rest of the restaurant has plenty of space though). There is also a small fee added on to your bill to offset the cost of the singers. The food is reasonably priced. I'm a fan of their chicken parmigiana and the soft, hot and fluffy dinner rolls. The pizza is pretty good too. The prime rib on Sunday night is also good. My daughter likes their gyro sandwich. Do not get the grape leaves though unless you like mushy rice. Most of the wait staff are older ladies who can get quite crabby and are not very friendly but we cut them some slack and tip them anyway because of their age. And the service can be very slow on the bar side. We've waited 20 minutes for a wait person to come over to our table and finally had to flag one down. But we enjoy the music and the food enough to keep returning. Their Italian dishes seem to be the best choices. read more

I have gone to Alpha for years and I like their food. My husband and I went there Friday afternoon just before 3 o'clock for a late lunch. We were seated, the waitress got our water, and asked for our order. We decided on the pizza/salad buffet. She told us we couldn't order that because they tear it down at 3 o'clock. BUT.....if we had been there at 2:55 she said we could have ordered. It was 3:02 and we sat across from the buffet table looking at the pizza and salad, and would have been satisfied with what they had. Why tear it down when we could have eaten it? Had the time been 5 minutes later I would have understood but not with 2 minutes when we were there and seated before 3 o'clock. The waitress, Trish, was not friendly but she never has been. When the menu reads until 3 o'clock I assume we can order until that time, and if she had taken our order prior to getting our water, we could have had the buffet. I got up and spoke with the manager who wouldn't bend either. We got up and left and I doubt we will go back.........we like their food but didn't deserve this treatment. read more
