The experience at the JCC in Los Gatos is consistently exceptional. Earlier this year, I joined for access to high quality community, fitness, and recreational opportunities, and I have consistently been impressed. Karen provided a knowledgeable onboarding process, Sophia consistently welcomes and assists members in the lobby, Brian contributes a calm professional presence, Rick gives excellent massages, Nick expertly supervises operations, and Alex makes the best sandwiches with cherry tomatoes at the cafe. read more

I love the JCC! They regularly hold wonderful events, like the recent wellness fair, and the fitness center and workout classes are spectacular. Bill, the fitness director is so fun, helpful and hilarious. Sign up now! You won't regret it. Plus, they have AquaFit year round in the heated outdoor pool! And pickleball courts!!! read more

The Jewish Silicon Valley Community Center is listed as a gym, but it is so much more! They offer wellness services, childcare, one of the staff members said they even have a cafe! The staff is so warm and welcoming. We had one member, Tami (or Tamar?) read to the children at our library and she was wonderful. I also met some other staff members and they were all very nice. They even offer summer camps for children. I wouldn't hesitate to have my children attend (can't be said for some of the other camps in the area!). toda () read more

Good place for exercise AND friendship. Twelve friends , our INFORMAL "GROUP" has been coming here for 12* years. We all do our own thing and then meet by the pool (or inside in the coffee shop if it is cold) for congenial conversation over coffee and on Fridays - pastries! I highly recommend APJCC. read more

Absolute worst experience at a membership-based club I've ever had. Nothing is cleaned. Dead rats are found in the pool constantly, there's toxic gasses mixing in the back room, the premises is NOT secure whatsoever and homeless people hop the fence consistently but management does nothing and probably never will. My recommendation? Think twice about dropping an absurd amount of money here. You'll end up with more health problems than you did when you joined. read more

I've been a member at APJCC for many years and my review is way overdue. The gym is always well-maintained and clean, staff is always present and supervise for safety of all. Front desk team and friendly and security team always leaves a good first impression. Many people work there for many years which speaks highly on the company. I wanted to give to so many shout outs to the staff but may forget some names. Diego Barragan has been super helpful answering and assisting my latest questions, Carolina Sandoval has been always there to assist and support, all staff at day care are incredible , thank you all for creating and maintaining welcoming and friendly environment! read more

This has become my lifeline to a healthier life! I started June 1, 2019 with swimming to get my body moving again. Then at the end of July I started with Personal Training 2x's a week. They have everything here to help you get the results you are looking for and it quickly feels like home. Everyone is so inviting and wonderful. I want to thank a few people that have helped me achieve my results so far... Deb & Madeleine for the Swim Classes which really helped me get a good base going, and bring me back from doing nothing to something!!! I will be back swimming again in April when the pool reopens. Ian (who is back at school) was my first trainer at the JCC and his compassionate enthusiasm made me want to keep coming. Chris Hintz, you are my everything right now!!!! You have challenged me in every way to do hard things and to keep going when those hard things feel insurmountable. Your attention to detail and serious concern for me making it to my finish (maintain) line healthy and without injury is why I trust you and your belief in my potential. Your sessions leave me sweating my face off, and moving faster and harder than I thought possible!!!!! And, my most recent contributor Nick O. the one helping me lift heavy things powerfully. Nick, you clearly love powerlifting and make me want to love it too! Our sessions are slower, and about moving one thing concisely, and I always feel beast mode afterward!!!! Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2016 January 1, 2016 The Addison Penzak Jewish Community Center is located in Los Gatos, California. Last year my mom suggested we enroll her grandson in Preschool at the JCC. There are several types of membership: Full Social Corporate Network (allows access all 5 Bay Area JCC locations) In order to have your child at the Addison Penzak JCC Preschool you need to be current members at the JCC. We opted for full membership at the JCC which allows members to access the gym, pool, preschool, and discounts on varies activities within the community center. The JCC is clean and well maintained on the community center side and preschool area. There is security on both the JCC and preschool entrances, access is granted with our membership cards. Staff and security at the JCC are professional, kind and welcoming. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Addison Penzak JCC Preschool - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Before my mom passed away in November of 2015, she was able to accompany me several times in picking up her little LoveBug from preschool, visit her grandson's preschool classroom and meet his teachers. I'm grateful that my mom encouraged us to enroll Ian at the JCC preschool, it was one of the best decisions we've made. The teachers and assistants are professional, warm and kind. The classrooms are clean and well organized. I grew up in an interfaith family (Catholic & Jewish); it's nice to see my son learning about Judaism and learning some Hebrew. You don't need to be Jewish to attend the preschool. More than half of my son's preschool class isn't Jewish. There are children from all different faiths in my son's preschool class. Preschool is part-time and if you need extended care they offer before and after school day care. APJCC Preschool is billed monthly and all families are locked into a ten month contract. The tuition is pricy but it's pretty much the going rate for all preschools in the surrounding areas of Silicon Valley. -On Fridays you can purchase Challah in the preschool lobby (it's from a local bakery in SF) -Preschool runs from 18 months to 5 years old -APJCC Preschool observes Kashrut, lunches you send your little one with to preschool must be dairy, parve, fish (no shellfish). -APJCC preschool provides one mid morning snack -No peanuts or tree-nuts allowed in lunches (this is good because I'm allergic and don't want my son in contact with items that could cause anaphylactic shock in me, I carry two Epi-Pens). -They accept kids that haven't been potty trained -You must provide diapers and wipes if your child isn't potty trained. Overall, it's a wonderful preschool. - - - - - - APJCC - - - - - - The gym is great, clean and well run. I'm glad we're full members. They have discounts on plays and classes with full membership. If you're looking for a quick snack or bite to eat they have a House of Bagels cafe onsite. I've been to the House of Bagels with my son after preschool on occasion. If you need someone to watch your little ones when exercising at the gym they have onsite daycare ((this is charged hourly and you must be onsite when your little one is in daycare)). Just fill out contract and either buy a prepaid card or you may pay as you go with cash. We purchased a $90 prepaid card for daycare. It should be noted that they also offer Parent's morning off or afternoon off- you may have advance reservations, 3 hours in the morning or afternoon for childcare at the daycare ((this enables you to run errands or go to doctors appoints sans your little ones)). So happy we found a good preschool and community center locally! It's such a nice community- My old college professor and my doctors are members at the APJCC :) If you're looking for a family oriented center the APJCC is a wonderful place! I was Yelping my veterinarian one night (tonight it seems) and I realized that I can't NOT Yelp the JCC! One word. ZUMBA!!!!! I walked into the JCC on a Friday night to try this class I had heard about a bunch but had never actually seen in action. I watched several YouTube videos of it and still wasn't sure and I hadn't been to the JCC in years but I thought, what the hell? It's Friday night and I want to boogie. So, I walk into this class taught by Paris just over a year ago now and I haven't missed one class in a year unless Paris was gone and there was a sub (what can I say? I'm a dedicated Parisian :). I don't know how many Fridays that is because I'm not a math wizard but it's a lot, right? I almost can't remember when I have been so dedicated to anything recreational for this long!!! Paris is amazing and delightful and her classes are too. She takes the time to get to know your name right away and you will feel a great sense of community here. Friday Night Dance Party was my first Zumba love, but I am also a dedicated lover of Amy's classes. She is hilarious and her classes are GREAT fun!!! She's an extrovert to the max and will make you laugh -- hard! There are people that do these classes with Paris and Amy and literally smile the entire class. I watch them in total fascination as that is what full on JOY looks like!!! Don't be shy. Come on down!! The first class is always scary but stick with it and you will discover a new world of exercise that doesn't feel like exercise!! I can't talk about the actual gym part of this place because I had never used it. I need no treadmills and free weights when I have ZUMBA! There is something for everyone here though if you are a lover of weights and machines. You can go to town. Just as a side note, I love that the JCC is a true community center. I am Jewish and so it feels very "homey" to me, but it's for everyone!! I find it so endearing when I am walking out through the lobby and there is a small group of people playing cards or games. Such a sweet thing. I love this place. read more

Friendly staff, variety of equipment, family friendly and inviting atmosphere! Highly recommend!

I've been a member of the JCC for approximately one year, and am very happy with it overall. I previously had a membership at The Bay Club Courtside down the road, where I paid twice as much for similar amenities. The JCC is clean with friendly staff, towel service, a nice pool, tennis courts, and a solid gym. There are a ton of group classes and many other services I have yet to utilize. If you're looking for good value and want something that's a step above places like City Sports Club, etc without breaking the bank, the JCC is an excellent choice. read more

We love coming to The JCC!! I've had my daughter in a few different locations for swim lessons and after we discovered their program we won't go anywhere else! Their instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the kids have a lot of fun! Also it's the only program that has a section of the pool carved out for play after class so they can practice what they just learned. You don't have to be a member to join the class. They have a great swim team if your child wants to continue with swimming after they've leveled all the way up!!! read more

We used to be club members here before and compare to other swim facilities, JCC swim staff is well organized and friendly. My son attended JCC summer camp and took 1 month of group swim lessons and he loved it. However, I never heard anything from both teachers or swim staff so there is always room to grow for better communication or any feedbacks. We will continue with the group swim lessons and consider joining the swim team next year. read more

My wife and I joined the JCC about 4 1/2 years ago ( it opened 5 or 5 1/2 years ago ) because we wanted a gym with new equipment, lots of events ( in case we got ambitious ), convenient location, reasonable fees and a Jewish "atmosphere". It had those things then...and still does...but the gym and all the other programs attract such a mix of people you'd almost think it was a mini United Nations. We've really only taken advantage of the gym at the JCC, so my comments are a bit limited. A review of their website illustrates the full range of programs and services provided under 1 roof ( a big roof at that ). The building is just a few blocks from the Lark Avenue exit of Highway 17, so access to and from the campus ( which includes several social service agencies ) is very easy. The parking lot is large..about 2 blocks long and 1/2 block wide..but it does occasionally get full at certain times during weekdays. Street parking on Oka Road helps to alleviate the crowded periods. There's always a guard by the front door to check membership cards, but he or she knows all the regulars and seems nice to the newcomers. Your ID is verified at the front desk just inside the door by the guard. That normally takes 5 seconds. The people there can get very busy with many activities, including answering the phone, resolving questions from parents and kids and, of course, checking people in...but they're usually friendly, courteous and helpful. The gym itself has an excellent variety of equipment in 2 large rooms for everyone from novice to expert. From my experience at other places, including Courtside, 24 hour-types and several cruise ships ( yes...the newer ones have unbelievable facilities ), the hardware at the JCC is in the mid-upper range of quality. It's spaced apart a bit more widely than a run-of-the-mill gym, but perhaps not as much as those charging significantly more. If you're unsure about something, there are typically 2 or 3 personal trainers available during the day and 1 or 2 in the evening. They all seem quite willing to answer questions when not with a client. One of the more interesting aspects of the gym at the JCC ( and I think for the better ) is not just the wide spectrum of nationalities present, but the range of physical fitness. At some places, unless you're buffed and polished like a bronzed god or goddess, you may feel like staying in the locker room...or even your car. There's no reason to be shy here. The young and infallible seem to coexist quite nicely with the more mature and not-in-the-best-shape. Perhaps the average age is somewhat higher here than at other places or maybe it's the effect of a higher power in some of the art. In any event I haven't witnessed too many beauty contests, though some of the younger guys do try to impress one another ( which has probably occurred since the dawn of time ). There are a continual stream of ongoing programs and one time events scheduled at the JCC...many in conjunction with the gym...and for a range of ages from under 10 to elder statesman/woman. A large room with 6 basketball courts ( often used for soccer practice ) is just across the hall from the exercise equipment. A cafe about 20 feet inside the front door and is open from 7 AM to 5 PM. Vending machines were just installed outside the exit to the field behind the building which is used for soccer and baseball. A pool and related facilities are located to the right ( north ) of that field. I'd give the gym facility at the JCC 5 stars, but 1 star needs to be subtracted for 2 reasons. First, and most important, the locker rooms have outgrown the size of the original target membership. As a result, it gets crowded and filled with dirty towels and other garments (?) quite easily. Somehow, those rooms need to be expanded. The other negative which comes to mind is the behavior of some of the teenagers and younger kids. Staff and personal trainers do try to keep a lid on things, mainly in the exercise areas, but the locker and bathroom can occasionally border on Animal House. Maybe parents need to teach a few more lessons to their kids because no adult gym can function as intended while offering a babysitting service. Those few items aside, the gym at the JCC is a great facility...no matter your religion ( although the atmosphere, particularly in other parts of the building, can give Jewish people a very nice feeling ). Ratings: - Overall: 4 - Equipment: 4 - Service: 5 - Staff: 4 - Atmosphere: 4 - Locker Room: 2 - Location: 5 - Parking: 5 read more

The JCC Tennis Programs are not compliant with USTA safety code. I have played USTA league tennis since 1997. In 2010 I joined the JCC to participate in USTA league and over the five years the safety of the courts has diminished. Specifically, there is bird and rodent feces on the courts. The lights are poorly maintained and very dim for night play. The staff are non responsive to safety issues. I have evaluated my options and believe that a campaign towards creating a leadership change is far more productive than me leaving for another club. The JCC promotes junior tennis programs. Nearly eight hours per week I see up and coming junior tennis players learning tennis skills. I am concerned for their health and safety being subjected to play in unclean courts. Parents of junior tennis players should talk to JCC management about the need for regular maintenance. I will update my posting when regular maintenance is performed. A simple workflow and process change by JCC can achieve the safety standards required. Respectfully, Patrick read more

The gym that no one ever heard of..... This gym is light years...or even galaxies ahead of the competition. I had been a member of Bally's and 24 Hour Fitness for years in other states which had nothing like this center. You pay by the month - no contracts! Yeah! The initial fee was $25 when I joined and the monthly fee $90. There are dozens of free classes, state of the art equipment including televisions on the bikes/treadmills, huge pool heated to 82 degrees (the one at home is a chilly 70 if I am lucky) and not to mention diet coach - Jen and PT - Stephanie who are great, tennis, vollyball and a physical therapy center for now. I haven't tried the sauna or steam room yet. You can schedule massages too. Free towels for showers are a plus. I needed a place that was close to my home so there is no excuse to not go every week day. The price is higher than the commercial gyms but the great service, facility, free classes, equipment and staff make up for that. The facility is spacious, clean and virtually free of typical gym rats that go to other centers. There are summer camps for kids that are well attended until late Aug so you can work out around their time in the pool. There are also classes on art, travel, Jewish faith and other topics which are interesting - you don't have to be of their faith to attend. read more

Really appreciate the membership offerings and hospitality at the JCC. The staff that work here are really friendly and pleasant - everyone from the guards at the door to the membership director. I disagree with the reviews saying that the JCC feels exclusive. Its quite the opposite. My family is clearly not Jewish but we were welcomed in and there's a ton of diversity represented in their gym clientele. As for the gym, it has everything you would need and functional TV's attached to the cardio machines, so I can't complain. I really appreciate that they offer a summer family membership, realizing that people come home for the summer and need a gym to go to with their family members. I have been a member of JCC for about 3 months, and already regretting. There are a lot of positives to JCC, don't get me wrong. Namely: - Friendly staff - Really good bang for your buck, especially if you want a family pass, and you consider you are in Los Gatos - Reasonable weights facilities - Interesting offering of guided classes - Good locker facilities However, there are also a number of red flags, at least for me: - The pool is a joke. It is a small 25 yard pool that is way too small for the capacity of the gym. If you add the fact that there a bunch of activities scheduled in it, including group lessons and swim team, it turns out that it is practically useless much of the day, and very crowded most other times. I am training for Ironman, and this is a real inconvenience. If you are thinking of using the pool at all, look somewhere else. Really. - While the guided classes are nice on paper, the truth is that you are likely to feel out of place unless you are over the "retirement" age. Also, coaches are pretty mediocre when compared to most other gyms in the area. Probably ok given that the classes are included in the monthly fee, but something to be aware of. - Parking can be a bit challenging depending on the time of the day. However, this is not even closely as bad as Courtside, so I guess it is something that we should be glad about. - Schedule on the weekend is odd, at best. A gym that closes at 6:45 pm? Seriously? read more

Old guys come here. I'm an old guy. Scorching sauna. Humid steam room. Kind staff. Well equipped with a bagel bakery. Parking can be tight during events. They call themselves a family community center however when I cancelled on January 9th the family feel left. They still wanted to charge me for February even though I cancelled in early January. Boooo. Yes their rules stipulate a 30 day advance notice but I really don't understand "why". They have no good answer other than it's a "rule". Rules that hurt your community are not good rules. Here we are in March and they are still charging me. I feel taken advantage of.............as if they didn't have enough of my money. The person I was corresponding with stopped emailing as well which makes me feel like when a person cancels they just don't care anymore. I was a member for a year. Glad we cancelled as they really don't represent what I would classify as a fairly run operation and a "family". FWIW...............the facility is beautiful. I just care more about how I am treated. Not only did JCC charge my credit card for an initiation fee and monthly gym membership that I did not sign up for (notice I never signed anything or receive any card or pass), the person who took my information never returned my email, refunded the charge, and then left his job. His manager called me about the situation, and after forwarding an email to her, she did not call me back or contact me as she said she would. Her exact words were, "I'll be in touch." That was one week ago. Notice, folks, that I was charged again on 7/2 for $144. Notice that nothing has been refunded to this account. Seriously, now. While a lot of good can be said about the JCC, the same is not true about its landlord, the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley. Its maintenance of the facilities is horrendous. For example, it has not bothered for years to eliminate exposed live electrical wires that are reachable even to a one-year-old. It fails to replace or repair tennis equipment. The tennis courts are embarrassingly filthy. Only a change in upper management may correct the problem. read more

Such a nice space! If you haven't been by the JCC in Los Gatos yet, you should check it out. Not only is it a state-of-the-art workout facility, but they also have an event space that can hold between 200-350 guests for a sit-down dinner. It has a full stage and technology set up for just about any kind of professional presentation. I was lucky enough to be here for the Chefs of Compassion event last Saturday night. They had registration and a silent auction set up in the lobby, which worked out just fine since JCC patrons were able to come and go without disrupting the event guests. There was enough room for a few wineries to set up shop in the hallway next to the ballroom as well, which was great for those of us who like to have a glass of vino on the weekend. Not sure if you have to be a member of the JCC to rent the space, but if you have to host a larger party (one where you couldn't fit everyone inside your house or apartment), definitely consider them! read more

There is a warning in this review. Please read ahead!!! We head to the JCC two times a week for soccer class. Therefore I cannot tell you about the rest of the facility. However the staff is friendly, the field is fine and now for my warning: Today I went to the bagel shop inside the facility. I wanted to order my child a bagel as a snack. It was the end of the day so they had all the last bagels in a bowl on the counter. I thought this was mildly weird but still went ahead with my order. I ordered one plain bagel and the woman behind the counter picks a bagel up out of the bowl with her bare hand and puts it in a bag. And then rings it up at the register. I'm no expert, but I believe that there is a health violation there. So the moral of the story, is if you visit the JCC, it would be wise to bring your own snacks. read more
