I heard about this studio from a client so I wanted to give it a try! I was greeted the moment I walked in and the staffs were all so friendly. This studio is really spacious and super clean. The instructor was very encouraging and I felt so comfortable doing my workout. The workout wasn't extremely difficult but I definitely felt the burn in certain areas. Would love to come back again when I have time!

Great workout in a nice, clean studio with amazing trainers! Love, love, love! The workouts are crazy good. I was sore for days (in a good way lol) and the core workouts incorporated in the training sessions are definitely sculpting my midsection much quicker than my standard gym workouts.

I've taken over 15 classes at Transform Fitness with different instructors, and every single one has been a consistently great experience. The check-in process is smooth, parking is easy, and classes always start on time. Each 45-minute session is a tough, efficient full-body workout that I actually look forward to. The instructors do an excellent job explaining form, offering personalized corrections, and pushing you in a supportive way. Whether you're new or experienced, you'll leave feeling stronger every time.

Before this I was spending exactly the same amount of time doomscrolling on my phone per night. The staff are all absolute sweethearts, theyre always working and cleaning. The bathrooms are gross in ANY gym, it can get gnarly here but I've never had to do the big one here. You just need to accept that. Everybody says hi, the entire PF stigma around big lifting is completely unfounded for this location. I go 2-3 wheels on the big lifts and nobody cares, no stares, didn't set the alarm off. It makes noise when I rack it. Nobody has ever once spoke to me. I'm on week 7. It's only going to get bigger. The price is so cheap I've literally paid $26 to get a 3 plate deadlift which is the best ROI of any money I've spent. For the past 2 months I've belong to multiple gyms at the same time to feel them out. Not only do more expensive gyms have less equipment, that is maintained very poorly, or the entire place smells Indian as hell (absolute deal breaker 9000), but then you pay $60, it closes at ridiculous hours so youre dealing with a morning or after work stampede and I do not rushing or asking if someone is still using something because everybody has their own journey and they have a right to take their time and enjoy their privacy. So after my first two months of belonging to 4 gyms simultaneously for a trial week, PF is actually the winner (Anytime/24/Barbell/PF)

Great Workout, Helpful Trainer (But Please, No More Pitbull!)…read more Tried out a class today and had the pleasure of training with Kyle. He's a solid trainer--knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to form. As a first-timer, I really appreciated his guidance on maintaining the right heart rate zone (above 91%) to maximize the workout. That tip alone made a big difference! Kyle was especially helpful with core exercises, ensuring I engaged my abs properly. He also gave great tips on tricep workouts and proper glute stretches, which really helped me avoid post-workout tightness. The rotating stations kept things dynamic, and I definitely felt the burn in my core and legs--just the kind of workout I was hoping for. The ambience was energetic, and the music kept things moving... except for Pitbull. I have no idea why he was on the playlist, but I wouldn't mind never hearing him in a workout class again! That aside, the experience was great, and I'll definitely be back. the workout was solid, and I left feeling accomplished. Looking forward to my next session!

The format is fantastic especially with the instructions, time, & exercises clearly visible on overhead screens. The trainers are energetic and helpful. The heart monitor is a nice touch. I like seeing how hard I have worked & the calories I burned. I wish there was a better explanation of what all the numbers mean on the screen & that they had showers. No showers makes it tough to work out & grow straight to work. I would love that option. I dislike that the 5 & 10 month classes have a very short expiry date. I think it's meant to push you into a monthly membership which is challenging to commit to with work & parenting schedules.

I stopped going to the gym early in the pandemic and after breaking my arm in a bicycle accident, I…read moredecided it was time to go back indoors. I looked into going back to my old luxury gym, but the price had increased by 50 percent after I left, so that was no longer an option. Decades ago, I had belonged to a low-end gym and I didn't want that experience again, so I decided to find whether there was something in the middle. This particular Crunch Fitness has several positives and a few negatives. First off, this place is a gym. Don't look for childcare, towel service, fancy toiletries, eucalyptus spray, hair dryers, jacuzzi, or steam room. It's very much a gym, and the owner focuses on that. (All Crunch Fitness centers are franchises). It has so many machines. For example, many gyms have one or two multipulley weight machines. This Crunch has six. It has five kick boxing bags, numerous cages, and a plethora of cardio equipment: Stairmasters, rowers, treadmills, recumbent bikes, upright bikes and spinner bikes. In the daytime, almost all types of equipment are available and it's relatively quiet. In the evenings, particularly from 6:00-8:30, it's very loud and some cardio equipment may not be around. In addition, the music is pumped high and it can be especially loud when a class is going on. The group exercise room doesn't have a door. In addition, the outside door gets propped open to vent during large classes. A big part of any gym is the people who work out there. I've noticed that people are very conscious about wiping equipment down and replacing weights. While the gym doesn't have a jacuzzi or steam room, it does have a sauna. It's infrared, and I'm not sure of the IR's significance. It feels like any other sauna, but it lacks the woody scent. I don't know why; maybe it's just because it's new. The Winchester Crunch Fitness's rest and recovery area is better that that at other Crunches. Instead f being just a section set apart from the rest of the gym, it's a separate room with black walls. This keeps it quiet and more relaxing. The recovery area has Novatech compression devices, Hydromassage, and Human Touch massage chairs, but don't be deceived! The Human Touch Massage Chair do not feel anything like human touch. Basically, they're like the mall massage chair only they also have enclosures for hands and feet. The Hydromassagers are excellent. One thing that sets this particular gym apart from others, including other Crunches, is that it has individual changing rooms instead of locker rooms. The shower rooms labeled disabled all have urinals, so guys tend to use them. Those rooms are mammoth, but I'm OK using the smaller rooms. I think the owner installed the individual changing rooms as part of its no judgement philosophy, and in doing so, the situation ended up nicer for everyone. I do wish the bathrooms were cleaned more often. They aren't filthy or anything, and they don't have paper overflowing or anything like that, but it would be good to see some janitorial staff going through every hour or so to mop up and sanitize. All-in-all, it's a good place to get down to the business of staying in shape.

I toured several gyms in the area--Crunch Fitness - San Jose Winchester, City Sports Club (formerly…read more49ers Fit), Anytime Fitness, and Vim + Vigor Fitness (formerly Fitness 19)--and Crunch was the clear winner for me. City Sports felt too dark and had a bit of an intimidating vibe--mostly already-fit people and I didn't see many women in the free weight area. I also didn't love that everything faces the mall windows, and the inability to pay for a full year upfront was a downside. Anytime Fitness was convenient with 24/7 access, but it felt too small for my needs and was on the pricier side. Vim + Vigor was also expensive and consistently busy. Crunch, on the other hand, just felt right. I did a 3-day pass and had a really comfortable experience. No one staring, no awkward vibes--just a solid, welcoming environment. There's plenty of equipment: machines, free weights, a HIIT area, and circuit training options. The studio space is large and offers a good variety of classes. The front desk staff were also a standout--friendly and genuinely helpful. Denise gave me a tour, and she was great--very nice, motivating, and easy to talk to. We had a good chat, which made the whole experience feel even more welcoming. Trevor is helpful as well and has kept in touch over email. Yes, it gets busy during peak times (I went around 4:30-5:00 PM), but let's be real--this is the Bay Area, every gym is busy then. Big bonus: the recovery area. Red light sauna, red light therapy, hydro massage beds, and massage chairs--honestly, that alone sets it apart. Also worth noting: instead of a traditional locker room, they have individual bathroom/shower setups, which gives you more privacy. Another plus--Crunch lets you pay for the full year upfront, which can save you a little money... and let's be honest, we could all use that right now. Only downside across the board--none of these gyms have a pool or hot tub, which would've been nice. Overall, Crunch on Winchester strikes the best balance of comfort, equipment, and value. It made working out feel doable again--and that's saying something. It is closer to home than the others which is a bonus as well. I plan on joining Crunch this week

I've trained at a range of gyms including Lifetime, Equinox, and 24 Hour Fitness, so this is coming…read morefrom real comparison, not just a one-off experience. What's frustrating is that 24 actually has great equipment. In some locations, the machine selection is just as good as, or even better than, what you find at higher-end gyms. Meanwhile, you're paying $200+ a month at places like Equinox largely for fewer people and better cleanliness. And that's the gap. At 24, the issue isn't the equipment. It's the lack of consistent hygiene and accountability. You still run into people who don't wipe down machines, leave sweat behind, or treat the space like it's not shared. It breaks the experience, and it's exactly why people feel pushed to pay a premium elsewhere. There's a very clear opportunity here that could completely change the game: Implement and enforce a "no towel/bench barrier, no training" policy. This isn't about being overly strict. It's about creating a baseline standard. When people are required to use a towel as a barrier between themselves and the equipment: Sweat is contained instead of transferred directly onto benches and machines Cleanliness improves immediately and visibly Members become more mindful of shared space This is standard in many European gyms, and it works because it's enforced, not just suggested. From a business standpoint, it's also a win: Towel service memberships become more valuable Retail towel sales increase Equipment lasts longer due to less direct sweat exposure But the key is consistency. Staff should actively walk the floor, clean regularly, and reinforce the policy so it becomes part of the culture, not just a sign on the wall. Right now, 24 has the foundation to compete with premium gyms on experience, not just price. But without stronger standards around cleanliness and etiquette, it falls short. Fix that, and it's a completely different gym.
