Where do I start? This has to be the worst online learning program I have ever used. It's bland, just text on a page with outdated info. The workload is horrible, you need to have no life outside of school to get anywhere a passing grade. I usually get at least a C in school, but i'm sitting at a 30% in all of my classes. I have 84 assignments due this month! 10-20 a week. I'm good in regular school but this is too much. I get that this is a tough time for school but that doesn't excuse this workload. read more

There are so many technical problems with the program. I am a student and I think it is a downgrade from lasts years school system. Anyways some of the lessons don't cover everything completely well. The program doesn't even let you pick your own classes. Even my teacher hate it. Waste of time and money. Sometimes the deadlines are so soon. So when I get behind on one. I then get another thing assigned and overdue. For Christmas I normal have about 4 days before Christmas and not with Apes I have it only two day before. The worst online education website I have taken. I also hate having to ask the teacher to unlock every time I am ready to do a test or redo something. So over the weekend then I have been studying for a test, I cannot take the test. Loosing the fresh material in my head. The worst. My daughter took 2 classes through Apex this summer. We needed to reach out to customer service several times. Each time, it was a nightmare.. Have an urgent question? Expect to wait at least a week for an email response. Try to reach someone on the phone? Prepare to wait on hold for 20 minutes each time before you are sent to voicemail, where again, you will wait a week for a response. Try their chat feature? You will get someone who says they will update you on a response to your question. Then you will wait a week, calling and emailing with no response. They clearly don't have adequate customer service. I will never again enroll my child in a program that is happy to take my money but unwilling to offer support. The class ended 2 weeks ago and i have a transcript question. It is preventing her from applying to college. I encourage everyone to find a different virtual school. We can all do so much better. read more

I am taking English 1, US History, and Algebra 1. The schedule demands 6-10 hours a day (Not conducive for work) about 15% of test questions are incorrect giving you a lower grade than deserved. To much like ccp classes. How many kids are going to teach themselves for however long they are enrolled. Teachers should step up and stop being lazy during these times. read more

I'm a high school senior trying to take Calculus AB remotely. This is the worst class I've taken in my life. Instruction consists of a couple 2-3 minute videos, then 6-15 pages of work with little instruction if you're confused. No due dates are posted, you can't see what assignments you have to complete if you don't complete the quizzes first, and the quiz questions take the barely-taught material and twist it in ways that are difficult to follow for the pitiful level of instruction. You can't view the correct answers of questions you get wrong, and there is no feedback or anything. For reference, I am rank 1 in my grade and usually sit at an average of 99 or higher, but through apex I've got a 37. Just do khan academy or something. read more

Apex isn't clear with learning and they test you on things they haven't taught you and it just sucks

I couldn't fit AP Econ into my regular schedule so I took both AP microeconomics and AP macroeconomics with APEX. I'm a senior in high school with a 4.0 GPA, and I take my education very seriously, so I was under the assumption that I would be a good candidate for an online class because I work well alone and on my own schedule. However, I found taking an AP with APEX a very stressful experience, and I think APEX could make several changes to their program and to their curriculum. Additionally, my teacher recommended that I voice these complaints (yes, its that bad). 1) One of my biggest complaints is that when you take a test with APEX, you must answer a question and it is scored before you can move on to the next one. That left me sometimes sitting for an hour trying to figure out a question, and that would make me fall behind on my work because I couldn't come back to a tough question. Often times that's the biggest piece of test-taking advice that teachers give you, but APEX doesn't allow you to do this. Plus, the questions would be worth 3 points each (on a 30 question test) meaning that if you missed one or two, your grade fell significantly. 2) Additionally, there were many questions on tests that involved topics that I hadn't learned, and with some of them my high school's AP economics teacher didn't even teach those topics. 3) Throughout the course there were several questions on tests/ quizzes (including the macro final) that contained typos or that had answers that were factually incorrect but were correct according to APEX. Also, many assessment questions were unclear, and had to be clarified by the Econ teacher. 4) Much of the curriculum was outdated, with economic data from 1996 or older, and no discussion of (somewhat) current economic issues. 5) Apex can't be accessed from iOS devices, making it more difficult to access for someone with a busy schedule. Overall, APEX AP Economics was an extremely stressful experience for myself and my teacher. read more

Very vague two examples then 5 questions much more complicated . No way for a parent to check work no review of why something is wrong. Give the simplest example then asked to solve a much more complex problem. 5 questions isnt a significant way to check comprehension . Alot of it seems like a specific oppinion for Language arts and readung comprehension. My oldest son was forced to go back to school because of it . My youngest son who normally get's straight A's is struggling. read more

I am currently a freshman in high school, and with covid-19 we are switched to apex, and I have many complaints, like how it is requiring you to type letters that are not on the common qwerty layout, and the fact you can not learn from the actual site, and you have to rely upon youtube videos is just disapointing I have to go outside of the site that I am supposed to be learning on, just go on to khan academy, it's just better. :/ read more

Worst school ever it's the hardest school ever and you have to work on holidays there's no teachers to help you and it is so hard I hate it

I understand that for my school district during a Pandemic, finding an online curriculum can be extremely difficult, along with making sure students are getting an optimal experience. However, I am not enjoying Apex. For each section of a lesson, for example 1.2.4, it is all WORDS. Just clicking through 20 pages of written, confusing information. Also, the study guides are weak and not stimulating enough, and no matter how many notes I write, how well I fill out questions, the quizzes are irrelevant to the lesson I just clicked through. The definitions of certain vocab are worded strangely on quiz questions, in order to confuse you, and it's hard to be successful if you're doing a quiz on info you haven't even learned. The Algebra 2 course is-----like a textbook from the 1800s. It doesn't walk you through the function you're learning, show you step-by-step how to do it, and then send you off to work on guided problems. It gives 15 pages of hard text to read through with confusing explanations. My Math teacher had to advocate for a new curriculum (Carnegie Learning) because Apex was so horrible. A lot of the information in the Spanish 2 course was incorrect. It said that there weren't any irregular verbs in the preterite tense, and then that very same day, our teacher introduced to us 6 NEW IRREGULAR VERBS. I mean put some effort into teaching FACTS please. Please put some real research on how our brains learn best, instead of throwing misinformation onto our page. I read through many reviews like mine, and I would think you guys would do something about it, to make it a more positive experience, and better in general. If you want to learn something for one of your classes, do not pick this. This website is terrible at teaching. The videos they provide glitch out often and whoever makes them is not good at explaining things. There have been so many times where I was just confused about everything even after going over the material multiple times. The test questions should be explained better as well. They are way too difficult especially when it is already hard to grasp the learning material. My grades have gone down since I have used this course and I have spoken to other people about Apex and they feel the same. Do not waste your money. read more

I am taking this course over summer, and the material is quite confusing, the way they teach you is really difficult to grasp if you don't have a good understanding of the basics. (I am taking geometry) In my course, there are almost no assignments that are graded that you get, because 90% of the graded assignments are quizzes. Occasionally you'll get a project worth 6 times the amount of points as the test.The project has sections that don't make sense, and its difficult to find were to get the information. I've tried asking the tutors for help before but they couldn't help me. In terms of UI, there are portions that seem OK but most of it is difficult to understand or just straight up bad. I am disappointed that this class didn't teach me as much as id like, and it sucks that I will have to take it again this school year. read more

The teachers are very unenthusiastic and are not good at responding to questions. I had transferred from a high school math class to this for distance learning, only to find it completely confusing and like nothing I had been taught before. The "practices" they have you do are completely useless and do not share a lot of helpful information. Additionally, response times are extremely slow when emailing or even texting your teacher. Not to mention the fact when you take a test it locks every other resource you have making it extremely hard to learn properly. read more

I truly can't explain how terrible this "online learning website" is. Maybe it's just their algebra programs, but either way, my experience was very poor. The lessons ramble and ramble only to never actually get the point across and the quizzes are always worded in a way that overcomplicates the questions. I have resorted to only doing the warmups on here as the study guides and check-ups are utterly worthless. Instead, I log onto Khan in an attempt to learn what Apex poorly tried to teach me. This program made me hate math even more. Completely worthless, I don't understand how this even passes for an online school. Trust me, I'm a diligent student that actually strives to learn and will take the time to read the notes and everything. Apex just does a poor job at simply teaching. My daughter injured her leg over the summer and needed an ACL reconstruction and so we encouraged her to take an algebra II class in order to get ahead on her sophomore year at school. the process was smooth, teachers were responsive and the content was engaging. so much so that she finished the entire course of both semesters during the summer break and enrolled in pre calc for her sophomore year. i couldn't speak more highly of the entire process and apex provided my daughter with so much flexibility for the rest of her school career. lastly, she is doing very well in pre calc. read more

Impossibility frustrating program. Having been planning to finish a class' work this night, I was prepared to drop it today. However, I failed a single task and now I cannot progress any amount without the assistance of an administrator. But of course, as my day consists majorly of the night, they're all asleep! Now I have to sleep with the stress being unable to continue, and having to deal with it tomorrow. I had a very negative experience with APEX's AP econ course last school year (2018-2019) and I would not recommend it unless significant changes are made. Luckily, my high school's AP econ teacher helped me with the course and was able to override APEX's grading system, which helped me complete the course. Had it not been for him though things would be a lot worse for me. This teacher also was the one who suggested I write a review in the first place. At the time I was the only one in my high school taking this course online. I am now a freshmen in college and have been a 4.0 student all throughout high school and my time in college. To this day, online AP econ was the most difficult class I've ever had. Below are my complaints: 1) With every other online platform I have used (schoology, wiley plus, moodle, etc.) you were able to go back to questions that you weren't sure about. However, on APEX, you HAD to answer a question before moving on to the next one, and you could go back/forward. This was extremely unhelpful when I was taking a test and would put me far behind in my course progress if I needed to wait the entire weekend to ask my teacher about a certain question. 2) Questions on tests and quizzes were often inaccurate (the wrong answer was marked as correct), poorly worded, or went far beyond what was taught in the video lessons. There were also no explanations given as to why answers were wrong on tests, and sometimes they even stumped my AP econ teacher. 3) APEX customer support was minimal and I had no access to anyone who had designed or overseen the curriculum, which made figuring out what I needed to know extremely difficult. There was no one to contact if there were issues (like I mentioned above) with tests and quizzes. 4) All of the lessons that were given to me seemed extremely dated. All of the economic data that was given was from the late 80s and early 90s. I don't have anything against watching econ documentaries from 1992, but it gave the impression that the course itself hadn't been updated since then. 5) This course did not sufficiently prepare me for the AP test and I decided not to take it because my econ teacher said that there was material in the APEX curriculum that he hadn't seen since college. I figured that I didn't want to waste my time and money taking the AP test if I was not properly prepared. So, there you have it. Overall, this course brought me a lot of undue stress my second semester senior year and really brought me very little in return. With some changes, I think APEX could be a good way to learn outside of the classroom, and I liked the concept of watching video lectures, practicing, and taking tests on my own time with one software. There is no worse choice for school than Apex, inactive teachers, questions on quizzes which have answers that are blatantly wrong, useless support, bombarded with assignments so that you never truly have a break, my class deadlines expired before they were scheduled to, and in the first 3 weeks on enrolling I had been locked out of my account 6 different times. They have old software so just to turn in assignments, the students have to figure out patches to send work in. When the patches dont work and your kid sent in their work the teachers get a bunch of numbers. Then the teacher makes the kid watch a video on how to turn in assignment. When that doesn't work the teacher blames the students and won't accept the assignments by email. Then the kid gives up and quits. Keystone has up to date software and you dont have to go through so much crap to turn in a freaking assignment. read more

My teacher was extremely condescending and patronizing. Also, he was perhaps the worst grader I have ever seen. I am a good student in school and I understand the difference between a teacher who doesn't know how to grade with a teacher who is a hard grader. Apex is frustrating because the answer you put seems to always be wrong. The videos weren't helpful and the quizes,tests, and hw were leaps and bounds harder than the actually content we learned. My experience with Apex is not a good one. I would never recommend Apex learning to anyone. It was a waste of 350$ and absolutely pointless. I originally signed up for an apex course in order to get another last minute AP credit in before applying to colleges, only for it to be a complete waste of my time. The course (AP Psychology) barely explains major concepts and then often tests you on terms and concepts that were never even mentioned in the materials or study guides. Because of apex's lack of adequate information, I've been forced to spend hours searching for other resources before taking assessments in order to avoid a terrible grade as a result of the terrible course material. Because Precalculus is a prerequisite to take AP Calculus, I had to take precalculus on apex. This curriculum is nothing but poorly done and overall confusing. Many of the concepts that are "taught" just leave students confused.I would not recommend learning on apex since it's a waste of money and time. I am an 8th grader who is 3 years ahead in math and our algebra 2 teacher retired, so I did Apex along with 3 other classmates. Right off the bat, things went wrong. Apex did not do a good job getting us signed up and the start date got pushed back week after week until we finally started- in October. Due to our late start, I began the class behind and with missing assignments, which they did nothing to fix. When I actually started, I found that Apex's courses were unengaging, and then things went downhill from there. It is a frequent practice among Apex to assign 2 or even 3 quizzes per lesson. On top of that, I was locked out of my account (again) more than once, and even while I was in my account, Apex provided no motivation to go forward, just busywork. I actually considered failing on purpose to get out of it. They also have an extremely confusing format for submitting some questions that it took me more than a month to figure out, meanwhile falling further behind. To pass (with a 65% grade) I had to work 2 periods a day for the last 3 weeks of the course. Apex also uses the business practice of asking people to write good reviews on Yelp (this particular variation of the practice is just one step above being illegal) and commenting on their own reviews to try to salvage their PR. If you are reading this, do yourself a favor and don't take any courses from Apex. read more

I am currently enrolled in the Chemistry, Algebra II, and English courses, and have completed the Physical Education and Spanish courses and they are all terribly written. The lessons are confusing and there are frequent typos in them. I had to get a tutor for Chemistry because it was particularly confusing to me. They speed through complex concepts and overcomplicate simple ones. The labs are extremely confusing and the test questions are often unrelated to the topics that we're supposed to be getting tested on. The structure of Apex classes is very monotonous- we read a few pages of lessons then take a quiz on what we just read, and that's ultimately the entire course. Absolutely zero hands-on or interactive activities. The program itself doesn't effectively teach any critical thinking skills- all of it is based off memorization. Taking Apex classes is the worst learning experience of my life. read more

Apex Learning Virtual School was incredibly conducive to my learning and informative across a variety of subjects. I took four online courses with Apex, all of different disciplines. All were impressive in their thoroughness and quality. Taking AP US History with Apex Learning, I never worried about my potential exam score because of the course's meticulous and excellent preparation. As a word of warning/advice for potential online learners: Apex's APUSh course delves into the nuances and specifics of each time period and thus expects people to give their best effort in comprehending and analyzing these time periods in depth. You get what you give. In my case, Apex helped me blossom into a much more independent learner with the ability to write essays quickly and strategically within time constraints. It also honed my focus and taught me to manage my time well. Reading an entire textbook may seem daunting, but if done strategically, it doesn't actually take that much time and becomes so engrossing. All of these aspects proved enormously useful in later courses and made the exam a breeze (I got a 5!). I would venture to say that if you complete all the assignments in the AP courses, you are sure to get a 5! A note on the perceived difficulty of multiple choice quizzes: reading other reviews on this website, there are trick questions for sure! However, that is what makes the courses so much fun and so interesting. Apex really keeps you on your toes, challenging you to understand the course content with nuance and making the official AP test much easier for you by comparison. There was this one project that I did and for one problem they weren't at all clear of what they were asking and I had to guess what they meant. I wouldn't recommend this for someone seeking online learning. read more

This curriculum is faulty enough that I would rather put myself at risk of covid then suffer academically due to the inability to see anything I get wrong, erasing opportunity for improvement. There is no checkup, review, answer key, that is not an unanswered pdf that was never even started. I have nowhere to get answers and on top of that I have also hurt my grade from the grammatical errors/missing words/phrases in unit TEST and quiz questions that I will never see again. I get my disappointing score/percentage, but nothing else. I never see what I get wrong and right besides a check or x next to an unclickable box saying "question 4". I can't use an empty review pdf to help with that. My grades are suffering and there is almost nothing I can do about it. There are bugs, crashes. Random sign outs. It is because out of security they don't want us seeing the assignment that was already completed in case we leak answers even though they've already been leaked everywhere. There's no longer a point in doing so. I've heard good reviews and I feel like different classes affect your experience. I'm stressed ash right now. Please don't sign your kid up for this if you have the choice too. There are alternatives that were actually completed and not left empty and unhelpful. read more

Horrible, I took apex APUSH. I had me, my sister, my tutor, and 2 of my friends help me do this course and the ending grade was a 35%. I want to thank apex for nothing u ruined my summer and wasted $350 and my time. For one history lesson there is 3 quizzes YES 3 per day+ a huge project which was like an essay. Even after reading the sections, taking pictures of each slide and study guide to help me with the quizzes i would still get a 60% since the questions were poorly worded and not relevant to the readings. Now i have to take this class next semester in my school in order for me to graduate. I did almost all of the work and ended with a 35%. I hope u realize that u wasted my last summer of high school I was forced to work all day every day during summer except for Saturday's. I had to take algebra 2 also which just made it even worse. I didn't even do good in that either. Don't waste your money on this class I wish I could get a refund. You ruined my last year of high school because now I'm grounded.
