If it were possible to leave a 0 star review I would due to Apex's terrible content and customer support. My school district pays $700 US per student, per year for Earth Systems Science amongst other classes. I used Apex over the summer to get credit for a summer trip and found Apex quite contradictory with its study guides often going against the quiz answers. Similar to Glenna V., I had a wonderful teacher who knows the content in and out and could both override my Apex-given grade - which on it's own would not at all represent my actual understanding of the subject and destroy my GPA - as well as help me to understand the parts that I got no clarification on. After taking this course, I fact-checked with National Geographic, NIEHS and The Australian National University amongst other sources, many of which did not support Apex's ideas in publication, and in fact, went entirely against them. I believe that Apex is either outdated or has always been incorrect and, in either case, needs to be replaced by educational resources that can deliver correct information in an age of misinformation. Schools should be the places where students turn to for reliable information, rather than another source of confusion. If you plan on purchasing this curriculum for your district, school or child, I would strongly recommend turning to another educational resource due to the misinformation, confusion and stress that are an added 'perk' of Apex. Apex Learning is a predatory and privately held company who engages in the same fraudulent business practices that caused the CA AG's office sue and close Heald College, Corinthian colleges, Everest College and ITT Tech in 2015. The company is run by the CEO, whose name is Christopher Porter and Mr. Porter does not have a degree in education. In fact no one in the C-suite of this company has a seems to have a degree in education. Not even the Chief Academic Officer. To be fair she claims to have an MBA in Educational Software though the University of Oklahoma, but the school offers no such program as you can see here: https://www.ou.edu/price/mba/online-professional-mba Apex does not have a full time staff and relies on people using Apex as their side hustle instead. Apex Learning costs school districts hundreds of dollars per student, per month and only $20/hr goes to the teacher. The local grocery store pays $17.61 for entry level cashier. Now Apex Learning claims to have 1 million students, which would mean their revenues would be about $200-$250 million a year. At 8% growth you would need to hire 50+ headcount to keep pace. They only have three part-time positions open which tells us their enrollment numbers are fudged. Apex has no intent to teach your child whatsoever and because Apex is a privately held company, your tax dollars are making a very small number of people, extremely wealthy at the expense of your child's education. The Apex interface gamifies the teaching experience by allowing and credentialed and non- credentialed persons alike to grade your students work. The result is unresponsiveness, poor engagement, poor quality of the responses, and a complete lack of accountability. The problems with Apex are well represented by other's Yelp comments. The only reason Apex Learning has teachers is so they can piggyback off their credentials, but don't expect to have access to credentialed educators. Apex curriculum is incomplete and blatantly misrepresents their service as quality education. There's a lack of content and instead of developing curriculum, they take existing courses and change them superficially. My child was offered the same course three times with only the title a single bullet point changed between each syllabus. For example they have a course which teaches you how to use Microsoft Office, specifically the version which is no longer available for sale. That course is represented to be an accounting course and several other courses as well. My child went a month with no math instruction because Apex had an uncredentialed person teaching the class, and they were caught by the district. What little curriculum exists is substandard and research suggests is outright detrimental. The user interface for Apex Learning is riddled with defects. Expect your student to become a Apex's unpaid QA department. The curriculum itself is also faulty as the answers are often wrong. The grammar makes most of the questions unintelligible and the tests engage in "trick questions" and other nonsense readily proven to be ineffective. According research by Andrew C. Butler, Chair and Associate Professor of Education Associate Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences PHD, at WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY, trick testing is a poor method of assessment and shown to have negative educational outcomes. Apex high school credit recovery was a cruel joke. Our school district says that the classes have an accredited teacher, and that was completely untrue in my student's case. We received no instructions until an email 2.5 weeks into the course said that ppl needed to have been signing in online for 3.5 hrs a day, but we had no link or sign in. It was the first we had heard of it. Even the warning email didn't include any details. Then, my child had a question that we weren't able to type into Google because the chemistry equation included symbols that aren't accessible by keyboard. There was no teacher, no tutor, no one with any course knowledge. The schools didn't know what to do. After 3 weeks of torture, we dropped the class. Nothing is worth that kind of stress and demoralization after already having failed the course previously. Do yourself a favor and show your school counselor these reviews. Don't let your kid slide into this black hole they're providing whole they sell it to you as an "easy" way to make up a course. Apex Learning's French 4 AP class is an enormous disappointment. The promotion and syllabus for this course are misleading 1. No contact with the teacher 2. No Language lab 3. No tutoring Support Issues. Communications come from so many sources it is difficult to track who is who. Our child received communication from. Apex. ALVS. MIddlebury, Edmentum and edm geniussis.com. We have asked for a refund. It has been almost a month and we keep receiving calls and emails asking for documentation which we provided. Still no refund. my husband is working with my granddaughter on a couple of courses this summer. They have found many mistakes in the program and there is nothing they can do about it an it affects her grade. Many of the questions had answers that were not even and option and or double options of the same thing. She is taking Algebra 2 as well as Science . Also , you have to take the pretest an if you pass, no matter what the grade, she has to accept. PRE test. The option to go in and read the chapter and then test was not there. Whether it's a new class or a recovery test, this is not a great asset to this program. It causes many periods of unnecessary stress. read more

Unfortunately this platform is a mockery of teaching. Its standards for its math courses are in no way national standard as I have seen one of the managers respond with before. The Algebra I classes have everything from what I took as (Higher/University level or what you call "Sophomore") Geometry and Senior Trigonometry shoved in it with little explanation on how to actually solve or create the problems within the subjects. It is a waste of time and terrible for students due to the stress it imposes when put into a full school setting. I'm in 10th grade, been doing apex since 8th grade. Words cannot describe how much I detest this decrepit platform. As somebody with Asperger's syndrome, I find it very difficult to learn anything on this platform. The lessons follow the exact same format, long walls of text in a narrow margin, followed by MAYBE a single image, and if you're lucky it's interactive. The program is filled to the brim of spelling errors and misinformation, along with convoluted trick questions designed to make you fail. All the lessons are more time consuming than informative. I'll spend hours on a single English lesson only to realise that I already know half of this information, from 7th grade. The only "interactive" part of SOME units are the "practice" assignments. These assignments are either an essay for English, or a random set of questions barely appertaining to the lesson you just spent hours reading and taking notes on. All of the practice assignments are separate webpages that make you copy the page to a text editor, answer the questions in the page, then convert it to a PDF to send it to your teacher in messages. This brings me to my next major complaint about Apex, teacher interaction. Most of my teachers are local, which gives me the responsiveness I need to get work done on a regular basis, right? No. Half the time, I have to resend a message for it to go through, or I end up waiting hours just to have the message forwarded to my teacher, who then may take hours, or even a full day, to read my message. And most of the time it's just a teacher telling me to redo half the practice assignment, without so much as a single comment on how well my work was done. And this bring me to Apex quizzes, they're just a set of 5 questions at the end of a lesson, often with questions that are either difficult to understand, or questions with answers that are clearly wrong. If you aren't too busy racking your brain on an answer for a question, you're racking your brain on what the question even is. If you get one question wrong, that's an instant B on that assignment. Two questions wrong mean you get a D for that assignment. And there's still more, the website itself both looks and feels like it came straight out of the early 2000's, with very basic functions on the homepage, and visuals that make you feel like you're using a PalmPilot. No, seriously. The page is filled with bugs, one such bug being the "Page Not Found" bug, where if you try to advance to the next page in ANYTHING, there's a 50% chance it won't work, and when you try to go to the previous page, it'll just kick you off saying "Page Not Found", making you have to sign in again. Apex is an absolutely horrendous excuse for an online school. It seems as if they only care about money and profits. If you have Apex for school, you're better off watching Kahn Academy videos instead of their bogus maths lessons. If you have a choice, don't go with ApexVS, all these "good" reviews are obviously paid, don't listen to them. If you have to do ApexVS, then figure out, then take the quiz and look up all the concepts they ask you about, their "studies" and "study guides" are utterly useless. read more

Welp, I'm with almost everyone else here. I don't know how in the name of Newton the schools got sold this megaliter of snake oil, but they have and we pay the price. Our options are to deal with the scalding public school atmosphere of pressure from peers and staff, struggle with Apex, or muddle through on our own. I suspect the third option would yield the best results. Apex would be problematic even if the educational content and curriculum pacing were stellar. You work forward but you can't look ahead and come back to something you struggle with. "No skimming through the unit to see where these quadratic equations are leading us until you finish your work. No, you do your work like a good little robot and when you finally pass the quiz THEN you get a peek at that naughty little next chapter about graphing. You work on what we say you work on, no independent thought for you!" Come to think of it, it's no wonder the school system likes it. Districts hate independent thought unless you're independently giving them money. Besides, they might be hoping Apex drives homeschool students back to the schools. So Apex Learning is the opposite of intuitive. There appears to be no thought for a logical, reasonable method of leading from one concept to the next. "Open your head, honey, and we'll pour in some data. There, you've been educated." But to make things worse, the stuff they're teaching riddled with errors! Spelling, grammar, actual real world facts. All of which are pretty fecking old, by the way. And Heaven help you if you take a math class. I'm working with my daughter on Algebra 1B and I can't count the number of times we've had to stop cold to teach her something that was fundamental to understanding the current lesson, some concept THAT THE CURRICULUM LEFT OUT. Or when we've had to stop and practice a brand new concept that they showed in a single page and then never reinforced before launching forward. She'd get a better math education working her way through Khan Academy tutoring videos... then again, they actually have standards so no surprise there. Alright, so she'd get a better education just following the video content from some random schoolteacher with a Youtube channel. Apex Learning... I don't know what your real motivations are. If you actually want to provide good educational materials, you're gonna have to get your butts in gear. Their website says that they have been doing online learning since 1997. Well 25 years later (in 2022) it doesn't seem like they've changed at all. They have a completely ridiculous system that you have to write internal "emails" every time you have to submit an assignment. Oh, right, and you can't submit a file that is over 7 MB, which means that if you have an assignment that has lots of photos or a video, you're gonna have to find a compression service to compress said assignment just to be able to submit it. Some of the lessons have 20+ pages that you have to click through. This does not include their dumb "study guides" and "focus sheets" that are separately linked to the lesson. And if you step away from said lesson for half an hour, you have to start all over from page 1. Furthermore, the "compelling multimedia" consists of unnecessarily drawn-out videos with abhorrent animation that looks like it was drawn by a five-year-old. And the assignments themselves don't teach you anything. They are repetitive as hell and are the exact definition of busywork. Why should I have to do dumb projects that no one gives a damn about and that don't teach me anything at all (because I can simply fake them just to avoid going crazy)? The essay prompts for my AP Lit class are the worst, too. Here's my prompt for Shakespeare's Twelfth Night: "Select a pair of characters from Twelfth Night. What is their relationship?How does it change over the course of the play? What influence or effect does their pairing have on other characters, or on the events unfolding on Shakespeare's stage? Support your argument using specific details and direct quotations from the text." And all of my other prompts are just as ambiguous and unclear as this one. This is actually one of the better ones. Finally (and this is what frustrates me most), you can't look ahead. Ever. Why??? Their calendar sucks too. Instead of showing what you've already done, the assignments on your calendar just disappear. And the calendar doesn't automatically jump to where you're at if you're working ahead. You have to click the next button every single time if you're more than a month ahead. The teachers also have to "unlock" your unit tests for you (regardless of whether you're working ahead or not). Oh, yeah, and they charge almost seven grand for a year of high school ($6,875 to be exact). Completely outrageous price for a completely outrageous experience. Feels like they are cheating you out of your money. For that price I was expecting a seamless and logical platform, not the piece of crap that they offer. Basically, don't ever use Apex if you have another choice. (I didn't. I am taking Apex's courses through IVLA, a private school that gives you a choice among several online programs, but only Apex had all the courses I needed. If I could, I wouldn't even give this program a star. Unfortunately, a couple months ago my school lost all their chemistry teachers and our school was forced to issue this program to my peers(including me), due to the lack of teachers. And well it has just been a complete nightmare. To begin the program itself has so many bugs, that it's so difficult to grasp the material. Sometimes you are asked multiple choice questions in the middle of the lesson and you are supposed to get a window stating if you are right or wrong. However, that not never works, making the content once again, not easy to understand, which absolutely sucks because the content is already latent and brief. In addition, you are issued "work" that has material that is discussed in the lesson for one slide. Not preparing you for the assignment, leaving you wanting to have a mental breakdown,because you don't know what to do. "What about the online tutors?" They are not helpful at all!!!! They take long to reply and often don't know how to help someone they can't see. It's rough. This program also has an outstanding amount of grammatical errors(in assignments and lessons), and yet you get punished for answering the questions wrong. I could really write about how much I DETEST this program, after using it for 1 Semester,but I don't think people would read all the way through. Anyways, my school is still lacking teachers and here I am again taking this course for semester 2 and not even 1 unit in and I'm already having so many problems and issues with. It's ridiculous! If you are a parent/student/superintendent/principal please seek other programs and/or alternatives, don't make whoever takes this miserable. Not worth the money. Oh and did I mention that I haven't learned a thing? And no I'm not a slacker or someone who hates school. Also, I came across this one question during a lesson and I just couldn't figure it out, so I proceeded to ask my virtual teacher if he could answer it. He replied a couple days later ( oh yeah, you should expect to receive replies when you don't really need them anymore), with him not being able to answer the exact same question because there wasn't enough information. The same thing I had stated. End of story, he couldn't help me. This program is absolutely dreadful, It has caused panic attacks and loads of stress. Questions are unnecessarily complex and convoluted in order to trick students Content is full of spelling errors which erode trust with students The platform doesn't allow check back to review work and looses place if the session expires. The product is poorly developed, many times not fitting the screen so student can't read questions. Tests are performed as 5 questions. If the student gets one wrong it is an instant B. 2 a D. Many errors in the code means that students can get conflicting messages. It's is a decrepit platform, uses mostly long texts in narrow margins. There are few illustrations or interactive elements. My kids took several virtual online classes but APEX is the worst in terms of the policy. The high school students normally face a lot of challenges at school by juggling several non-academic activities. My kid wanted to change the semester but missed the specific deadline. Although no single class was started, no extension or changing semester has been allowed. My kids recommended APEX to many friends but no more! What APEX insisted is to pay a full amount for an extension of the classes. That't it! Just money. Compared to other virtual online schools which are willing to help the students and their situations, APEX doesn't have any flexibility but they keep asking to pay a full amount all over again for the classes that the students didn't even start. We are really glad to find out this profit oriented policy with APEX. I recall that one of the representatives of APEX asked me to leave a good comment/review in the social media including Yelp to help their business when I contacted her to register a class. I believe that this honest review should be helpful for many parents and students. It's just a business. APEX has no education oriented policy for students at all. I'm currently a student for a geometry course, but I'm going to be honest, the program is very flawed, students have to teach themselves everything and sometimes complete up to 2-3 tests and a "journal" which can range from 5-15+ pages all due in one day, I along with others are barley passing simply because of the lack of communication with the teachers and the unreasonable due dates. While we get a live help session from 8am - 5 pm Monday through Thursday, they don't always help, they have told me to use things that we haven't even covered, and they help with the wrong question. and on holiday breaks, professors can take it but students have to work without the Live Help sessions. I would rather give this 0 stars but unfortunately i cannot. As a student currently taking apex as a substitute for school during COVID i have seen a lot of problems with the website. The text is super outdated and some of the information is just plain wrong. An example of this is my biology notes telling me that biomass is the leading source for renewable energy. Id also like to point out that often the website brings me to websites from 2005 and when i reverse google search some of the graphs on my notes it bring me to old websites from the early 2000's. PLEASE UPDATE THE NOTES. This helps the learning experience and prevents outdated beliefs. The videos are awful. While watching the videos for classes it feels like a drag. Such a disappointment because I am more of a visual learner. And watching the videos help me learn better rather than reading pages of text. There is no tutoring help for languages. The website provides you a link which is used for tutoring. You can ask questions on whatever you are confused on, and its very useful. The only downside is that there is absolutely nothing for language. I'm not sure if it were to the lack of teachers or if it is due to the lack of updates on this website. But please if its possible add languages. All in all if you are looking for an online school program don't go on here you will regret it. read more

While some of the horrendous pictures are able to get a good chuckle out of me, my Music Appreciation course has given me false information on more than one occasion. This obviously made me answer quiz questions incorrectly which normally wouldn't be very bad, if they didn't take their millions of quizzes so seriously. If you fail TWO times you have to contact a teacher to reset the quiz, from which you would have to do so for every future failure. Not only that, but in my Algebra 1b class they love to so kindly ease you into a new concept before dropping you into the deep end without even the slightest explanation. Like they're teaching you to climb up a plastic rock wall assuming that would be enough before making you climb mountains professionally. All of my classes seem follow a different schedule because some of them have a different number of units. Some have six, others have seven, etc.. Each unit should be about a months worth of work, but some units also have extra lessons, and a single lesson should be about a weeks worth of work(the amount of work in a lesson can vary). Which means sometimes I have to move things around in order to have time to do the extra lessons. That tagged onto all these extra assignments that you can't even mark done in APEX, it can be quite a hefty sum of work. Algebra gives you these "journals" and "practices" which are just word problems with extra steps. I once got a "practice" that neither me or my mother could figure out and ultimately gave up on. Honestly, I'm only still using this because I have to, my anxiety is bad enough that doing APEX is just easier. On a side note, what IS with the Music Appreciation pictures, some are ok but so many of them look bleached and/or totally messed up. Sometimes to the point there's no reason to have a picture at all! Some of them were just badly traced images of musicians that look to be made in MS Paint. It's hilarious but why???? read more

Do not even get me started on how horrible Apex Learning is. Please don't waste your money on this, I beg you. The lessons are very unclear. For STEM (math and science) subjects, the lessons are not explained well and I have to end up googling the concept or using Khan Academy. For humanities like history, English and foreign languages, the questions are worded so badly that it's hard to pass quizzes and tests. They also give way too many assignments that it's hard to stay on track. Even though late assignments are technically still accepted for credit, it's easy to fall behind and get very discouraged. Over 10 assignments were given over my holiday break, which destroyed my chance of connecting with family and even relaxing. Another thing is that you can't see the answers you got wrong. How are you supposed to learn from your mistakes if you can't even see the questions and correct answers to ones you missed? This failure of a program is not worth paying for! There are other programs that can give you a better education for less than half the price. $350 for a semester of a class from hell is not worth it. Like all the other negative reviews suggest, do not use Apex if you have the choice. As a high-achieving student, I feel like I'm being cheated out of an education to this excuse of a virtual school. If you're a student, don't let it happen to you. If you're a parent or educator, please don't waste your money and time with Apex. *For reference, I'm taking 3 college-level classes outside of Apex and they are all easier than Apex high school classes. This is possibly the most poorly executed program I have seen, when you make google classroom look good, I think you should re-evaluate what you made. I take this for math due to COVID, and it has been the worst. For example, today I had to take a couple of quizzes to move myself up for the due dates, here are some of the problems. 1. The quizzes themselves are only ten questions, meaning if you get only two wrong you at a B or a mid C. Trying to move your grade up when you are doing everything correctly in person, and then having a Half baked program to "learn" is hilarious to me. My grade goes down every time without fail, if I waned to learn from a program who instantly brought me down because of the lack of questions, I would fail purposefully. 2. The questions on their own are lazy, and often aim to trick the kid trying to answer the question rather than give them an actual strategic approach to the question. Most of them don't even make sense. My own math teacher has to go through most of our quizzes because some of the questions either relate so little to what they say they would, or deliberately try and trick us rather than help us understand. 3. YOU CANT GO BACK TO THE PREVIOUS QUESTIONS! Seriously, how lazy and incompetent do you have to be to not include a back button on a test? when you hit previous it brings you back to the window before the test even started, so if you want to go back and check what you have done, well, suck it go somewhere else. Imagine developing a fighting game without a rematch button. That's what this is. Such an elementary feature taken out and for what? to make us redo stuff? 4. The questions themselves, don't even make sense. I covered more on the trickery earlier, how the questions don't aim to make the student retain the knowledge but try and see through the laziness of the design, or maybe you know you make the questions like you do, in which case, you guys are a complete joke. I'm in 12 grade, about to be an adult and trying to take this as seriously as possible, but I cant because every question (almost) that I come across it either constructed so poorly that I have to ask my actual teacher for help,or they are just wrong. Just previously I started a quiz, and I thought something was up with the questions, so i pulled out a calculator, and the answer was not even correct. Great job you guys. 5. Contact your teacher. If you fail a test, one or more times you are forced to contact your teacher. What if you can't you ask? Get screwed. Seriously, there is no other option if you want to try again. Today for example, I can't get the attention of my teacher because they are teaching other classes, so I just sit and wait, and hopefully they see the email that I sent them before they decide to not put in any other grades. This is a joke to me, If your going to preach about online learning at least do it right, but its not. I really wish I could give this learning curriculum a 0. If you're a parent wanting to home school your child with this curriculum, DON'T DO IT. Please, just finish reading these reviews and you will see just how terrible it is. As you can tell, most reviews are one-star, and I can see why. Here are only a few inconsistencies I see with this trashy curriculum: Poorly-worded questions designed to trick students into getting the question wrong Works off of memorization instead of effective learning strategies Grading is horrible. On a quiz with 5 questions, get one wrong and you have an 80. Get two wrong and you fail. Progress isn't saved. There have been plenty of times where I am forced to shut off my chromebook while I was working on Apex-often on an essay question- and when I open it back up again all of my progress is lost. Some of the answers to the questions make no sense. More often than not, I am taking a quiz and I chose the option that makes the most sense. But nope, it's incorrect. So then I have to ask my Honors Language Arts teacher to look into it. Every time an issue like this comes up she gives us the points for the question because she agrees that the answer Apex chose is not valid. Because of this curriculum's stupidity, my teacher wastes her time and us students waste our time on worthless assignments from this curriculum. There are so many more problems with Apex, but I could write an entire book with all of them so I am going to leave it at that. Please, save yourself and your child from this curriculum. Today I was working on apex for math class when I started getting a headache, so I left my chromebook open and while I was taking a break it went on snooze. When I was ready, I opened my chromebook to continue working on the Apex. It told me the page had expired, so I reloaded it multiple times, yet I still had to close the tab and reopen it. And guess what. All of my progress was lost. I spent nearly an hour on the assignment and all of it is demolished. I just emailed my teacher about it. Wow, thank you so much Apex. The teachers are also non existent, and are there to just mark your assignments. This program doesn't even deserve a star its so bad, the apex people started the course 3 weeks late, they locked me out of my account, and there are many log in problems. The course assigns an insane amount of unnecessary work, I had to skip all of the stuff that apex assigned me and just learned from khan academy and do the quizzes. It takes hours of work every night and i'm only in 8th grade. There were many mistakes in the questions and the journal activities were the worst. I had to write my answers on paper and take a picture of them send them to myself then download them on to my school computer then send it to apex for it to be graded, get an email back, change some stuff and do it again. This is the single worst learning program that I have ever used. I had to use this program to take a geometry course. After the second unit I decided to get a tutor to teach the lessons to me because apex was doing a horrible job at teaching me. By the time that I reached unit five the lesson was set up so inefficiently that it took 27 slides to teach me something that my tutor taught me in five minutes. And even in that little time it took to learn I was still able to pass the unit test. In conclusion this program is completely and utterly useless. Horrible software! My kid just started online school. Although I have no complain about the school we chose, they use Apex Learning and the experience with them couldn't be worse. I will state the facts, you decide: 1. Disrespectful customer support via phone. Before I could even finish explaining the issue, he immediately cut me off to say the problem was to be taken to the teacher, even though the issue was the website. He proceeded to give me attitude throughout the call. 2. We found a bug that prevented us from reading all the website information from the drop down. 3. There is no way to reply to teachers emails! If you engage in an email exchange with the teacher about a specific topic, every email has to be a new email, new topic, etc. Even though the topic of discussion is the same. You cannot reply! I have never seen an email that does not allow replying!! There is no possibility of creating a thread. 4. There is no way to export the school calendar to your preferred calendar (iCloud, Google, etc). To Apex Learning, please address these issues and reach out if you would like and I will gladly delete this comment. I understand your employee might have had a bad day. I understand your software has a lot of room for improvements. But we parents just want what is the best for our children. My child has been redoing work over and over because their Middlebury platform is having difficulty. The assignment gives a grade but then won't upgrade in the gradebook. My daughter and I had horrible experience with APEX. My daughter took online PE class as she is an athlete. Throughout the class she had constant problems with it. Tests and quizzes are super purely worded, it is impossible to get 100% on them. The assignments that she submitted constantly were marked as overdue, and on top of that they have different grading scale, so an "A" starts from 94%. In short, if you want to lower your GPA go ahead and sign up for APEX class. very confusing system and every time there is a momentary pause in internet connection -- which happens constantly with the school district cheap chrome books -- the system logs the student out and requires logging back in and starting over. Both my daughters have taken math courses with Apex to augment the math sequence at their regular schools. There was a bit of learning curve time for each of them to get used to working in an online environment but this has proven to help them. Online learning in some form is in their futures. We did not have any issues with the technology. The teachers were responsive. Apex provided different modes of learning for different types on learners. The courses were rigorous. My older daughter went on to do very well in subsequent math course at her high school. My younger is still completing her course. The courses both provided a clear schedule of topics to be completed each session and both my daughters opted to move faster due to external constraints. It was clear how many topics they had to complete each day to finish on schedule. I would use Apex again and recommend it unreservedly. read more

Apex courses has topics that are mainly focused on an educated opinion rather than stone cold fact. I am a student at Union High School currently, and we use this system but I am not an unintelligent human being and I can see from an academic perspective there is something off with the curriculum. Not to mention, if you get too many questions wrong on a quiz you have to contact your personal teacher to unlock the assignments again which can be an extensive and unnecessary time process while trying to hurry and get assignments done before the high school graduation date. Let me start by saying to anyone thinking about taking any Apex learning course, it is a truly awful program. It takes so long to absorb the information that is presented, due to the fact that it is only shown briefly and not explained in any depth that would allow you to comprehend or apply the lessons. The "tests" that are given are only five to ten questions long and have one or two problems that are meant to trick the student into getting them wrong. A good example of this is when I had chosen an answer that I thought was the most correct of all the multiple-choice answers and got the question wrong. This was because after going through the lesson only being shown the most common depiction of the virgin Mary (the one of her with Jesus on her lap) I hadn't seen anything to prove otherwise.
