I came here with one of my friends for lunch during a rainy day. The place is unassuming and small. The menu had some decent offerings. I decided on the garlic ramen and took my friend's sheet of nori since she didn't care for it. I will say the broth was at a good temperature but a bit salty for my liking. The garlic flavor was good though. However, the noodles were tender and the egg was cooked well. The garnishes/accoutrements that typically come with ramen were nothing to write home about and expected. Also, the service is pretty typical of most Asian restaurants. They come once to give you the food and once more for the check. Overall, what I got was decent. I think it came to around $11-$12 before tax. Not horrible but for a bit more, I could have gotten something I like better like sushi or pho. read more

The egg was made perfectly and looked beautiful. My only complaint is that the ramen wasn't as spicy and the chashu was kind of hard to chew. I wish it was more tender. An area that I never drive to, but after being sick for the last four weeks, I needed a change in the soup I was drinking. We came here around 1:30 pm, and it was extremely busy. We did not wait to be sat for long. the customer service was friendly but a little forgetful, and I had to remind the young lady several times for a cup of hot water. We both ordered the garlic ramen noodle. The protein in the soup was pork and an egg. The one concern I have with this place is there needs to be more diversity in protein for the ramen bowls. I am not a pork eater, but I did eat it. Overall, I will be back for the rice bowls and give a report. read more

Great ramen place in Kansas! The number one thing I was impressed with was how quick everything was. Having a toddler, this is important to me. All of the food we got was great! The bao bun was different than ones I've had before, it was more of a sandwich. I got ramen, which was good! Plenty of noodles, but not as many extra things in it as I usually like. Came here for lunch on Black Friday. It was a chilly day and perfect for a hot bowl of ramen. Our server was very friendly and made suggestions of favorites on the menu. The flavor was good but very garlic heavy on each dish we ordered, including sauces. We love garlic but it rode the line of too much and not having balanced flavors. Found a good ramen place in Olathe, KS. Seriously, Aoyama Ramen is serving tasty food in a place with a Japanese pub feel. The base broth is deep in flavor, the noodles have a great chew, the slabs of tonkatsu are meaty and tender, they have a solid variety of ramen dishes and the location feels like a Japanese pub. I've been to Japan twice, trust me.... If there was one thing I wish they changed, it would be less cook time on their eggs. I prefer mine a little more "yolky" - is that a real word? :) Try them out, you'll be happy you did! P.S. Much better than the ramen places in LFK and Waldo. read more

Food was ok. Good enough for Kansas City. I lived in Japan for 3 years so I have a high standard. But the atmosphere is really good food came out fast. The curry rice was good kids enjoyed that. Was jonesing for ramen on a cold night and landed here. The ramen is pretty good and would recommend for anyone looking to warm themselves up. The ramen is a generous portion with a whole soft boiled egg. The egg is cooked pretty well and I personally think that's a sign of the ship knowing what they're doing. The ramen I got came with minced pork which is alright. I would recommend you get the chashu. The chashu for me was a little on the soft side and was sort of fatty so I was a little disappointed. Could've been better. Maybe if they seared it, I would've enjoyed it more. Decent thickness. The broth was thick with great amount of flavor which again points to them knowing how to make a good ramen. I personally like thicker al dente noodles. This place has sort of thin to medium noodles. It was fine but not my preference. The chicken Kaarage was very generous. Very traditional Japanese style breading with thick juicy pieces. I usually could eat one by myself but this was actually almost too much chicken (I can't believe I'm writing that). If you're looking for ramen in KC definitely drive down to check this place out. read more

We are visiting from Cali and just needed a ramen fix and we are so excited to find this place. Service is on point, food is beyond delicious and the the ambiance is hella fun! Had the Aiyana Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and Takoyaki. Both are amazing and made my tummy super happy. If we move here in the future I'm glad to know I can still find an amazing ramen place that even beats some Cali places. Definitely a good ramen spot. Had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and Pork Bun. Pork bun could have used a little bit more sauce spread across the entire bun. It was more towards the middle and you definatly could tell as it was a mass flavor pocket. Incredibly good but that made me want it with every bite and not under half. The Spicy Tonkotsu was flavorful and had a good amount of heat with it but not overly spicy. Only downside is that nearly everything is pork based and the only other option is the veggie ramen. Would have been nice to add in some crunchy toffu or some additional items to give the bowl some depth. read more

This definitely wasn't my favorite ramen place due to only offering pork dishes (I prefer chicken), but the flavor of their classic tonkotsu ramen was standard and rich. I didn't like how tough the pork was myself, but it wasn't bad overall. The small restaurant was busy and the dish was delivered very quickly though, which were pluses. I had also ordered their Karrage chicken, but the server didn't hear me; all was well, because the ramen was filling enough. My date and I came on a Thursday around 5 and it was pretty empty so we were seated right away! The service was great and our servers were quick and attentive. We ordered the pork baos, takoyaki, and the classic and spicy tonkatsu ramen. The only downside was that the pork in the baos were kind of tough and hard to chew. Parts of the dough were also a bit chewy when they're supposed to be fluffy and soft. The chashu pork in our ramen had the same tough, rubbery texture like the baos did. Two stars off considering the pork was in 3 of the 4 dishes we ordered. Overall flavors were really good, noodle texture was perfect, and the egg in the ramen was cooked perfectly as well! Takoyaki was tasty too, a little crispy on the outside but soft inside and stuffed with octopus! I would still give this restaurant another go and try some of their other dishes. read more

The Aoyama Spicy Pork Tonkatsu Ramen was flavorful and had a good kick of spice, but isn't spicy enough to hurt. The pork was very tender and the egg was your perfect ramen egg. I don't think adding chili paste made the ramen any spicier. The takoyaki was savory with a crispy outer shell and then a soft creamy moist inside. If you like bonito flakes, you'll like this dish A LOT. They were very generous with them. read more

Food came out within 5 min. Water was constantly filled. (I drink a lotttt of water) Anyways - started with the Gyoza. (Very hot and delicious and just the right amount of pan fried crispness) I got the beef sukiyaki rice bowl. It was good but the meat was a smidge tough. Hubs got the spicy tonkoyosu Ramen. Ordered two beef sukiyaki and paid extra to add broccoli (got like 6 small florets). My husband and I both agree that the bowl was 95% rice and about 5 bites of shredded beef that was shredded so thin you couldn't even taste it. We also had to add sauces from home because it was very bland and dry (because of all the white rice). We also ordered gyoza and it was ok, but nothing special. For how much we paid, I will definitely not be going back here, considering the only thing that filled us up was the rice. read more
