Such a wonderful shop, friendly staff and delicious cakes! I came last minute to pick up a cake and was so pleasantly surprised. This cake was not only decorated beautifully and the staff was so kind to provide me with a sparkler and candle as well! The cake itself was perfection, I highly highly recommend purchasing your next cake from AO cake.

Earl Grey Cake

Great service and really the lady was really nice! The shop is small and kinda hidden but it's worth giving it a shot. I ordered my cake with a week in advance through instagram and the pick up was really easy. They also do other custom cake designs but I went with their classic Earl Grey cake. It was really moist and you could taste the tea flavour! The sponge and cream were very light and not too sweet. Although the crispy parts at the top won't last more than 2 days in the fridge without going soggy.

I didn't expect to find such an affordable bakery inside a mall, but Cake Talk is actually a hidden…read moregem The space is pretty big with seating, so it's nice for a quick dessert break while shopping. Everything here is very reasonably priced -- especially in Toronto. The $1.50 egg tarts are freshly baked daily and honestly such a good deal. They also have a big selection of pastries and cakes, including 6-inch cakes for under $40 (which is hard to find now). It's not a luxury bakery, but if you're looking for something tasty, convenient, and budget-friendly, this place definitely hits the spot. Pro tip: I usually check Ezsave before going out -- you might find deals and save even more.

Wanted to check out this place for their $1 egg tarts if you purchase 12 or more, which is a steal…read morein this economy! First time I came around 11:30 and they were sold out. They said would be around 20-30 mins wait and I didn't bother waiting. Came back another day around 10:45 and they just came out fresh out of the oven. I generally do not like the crust of the egg tart (I'm weird, I know LOL) so I can't comment if it good or not compared to other bakeries, but the eggy part itself was pretty. It's a bit sweeter than I like but hey, for $1, I can't complain. They also have your traditional Chinese buns along with some specialty buns. I tried two of their newer buns: Red Velvet Strawberry Cream Soft Bun and Cheese Durian Bun - both were so fresh, soft, and not too sweet! I'd definitely get it again. I also got their black sesame loaf, but it was just a few black sesame seed on top and the inside was all red bean paste...I wouldn't get this again as I was hoping it would be black sesame paste. Their prices were affordable ranging between $2-$5. The bakery itself is big and has plenty of seating. They have cakes at the front, buns in the middle, and smaller cakes/sandwiches/(cooked food?) in the back. Service is friendly and they can get quite busy when trying to pay as they only have one person at the front making the drinks, taking order and payment. Located inside of Bridlewood Mall, it's a bit hidden if you go in from inside the mall, but they have a separate entrance from the outside as well.

Staff were very friendly and keep giving out samples :) Plus, the portion and flavour were very satisfying especially considering the price (very affordable!) Wish I could visit here more often if it were close to me. My favourite of the day was chicken sandwich and napoleon cake, which was pretty big and not so sweet :)

Xuan Bakery has been on my list since they've opened and I finally had the chance to take a peek inside! It's your classic Chinese bakery, so nothing special there - you just take the tray and tongs at the far end and make your way to the register. The spacing can be done a little better - you can't really have more than 2-3 people looking and getting buns at the same time. SELECTION: There wasn't a lot of variety, but with the selection they do have, it was pretty unique. They have two different types of Pineapple Buns (bo lo bao): the classic and a Taiwanese version (which looks like Japanese melon buns). They also have several different sausage buns, including one with cheese and another with pork floss. These also look a bit different, it's not encased in the bun, but it's more of a hotdog kind of look. They also offer cakes and free samples of their cakes, which look and taste like your typical Chinese bakery cakes (not my preferred taste). They seem to really want to upsell their cakes (the lady kinda tried pressuring me to try and buy). PRICE: The prices were on the higher end. You're looking at about $4-6 per bun. They also have a 'lucky draw' going on right now if your subtotal is more than $25, but my draw required a minimum purchase of $35 lol (for a free slice of cake). FAV: The classic pineapple bun. The top was SO crispy yet the bottom was SO soft. I would go back just for this by itself. There was a lady ahead of me who ONLY bought the pineapple buns. She knows what's up.

You could really taste the tofu flavour, but not in the traditional off-the-supermarket-shelf kind of way. The tofu flavour was not overpowering and complemented the black sesame perfectly. The cake portion was very tiny (~1cm) and I usually prefer a larger cake to mousse/icing ratio, but this was an exception! To add, the design was simple, yet vibrant. Overall, my family and I enjoyed the cake! *Below is a review on their online order/pick-up system in RICHMOND HILL* There isn't an actual "7 Bake Boutique" in the plaza. The boutique seems to be in partnership with another company as a distribution centre. Song Tea is the name of the bubble tea shop you go into to pick up your order. You give the employee your order number and proceed from there. My partner and I didn't know and spent a few minutes driving around the plaza a couple times. We called and was then told the information above. It was confusing, just FYI!

You ring the doorbell and a masked employee greets you at the door. You give him the order number and they bring the cake out. The cake itself was pretty awesome. It had a layer of mochi paired with red bean inside. The presentation was a dome shape. The chewiness of the mochi added a new dimension to the texture of the cake. We ordered it with sweetness level 2 and it suited my palate very well (Asian style desserts without too much sugar). It was sufficiently not-sweet that we felt comfortable giving some to the birthday boy! Overall it was an excellent experience and we would order from here again for our next special occasion.
