On his…read morefirst visit he caught some carpet beetle damage (the piano hadn't been tuned in at least 12 years) and did a minor cleanout and repair for free. He explained the issue clearly, and told us what to watch out for in case the issue advanced. Joel is very professional and responsive with clear communication via texting. Every year it's very easy to schedule another tuning, and he does an outstanding job each time. He accepts Venmo. We highly recommend his services!

Excellent piano technician -- highly recommend Joel at United Piano…read more This review really starts with a little backstory. We have a Schafer & Son SS-51 baby grand piano, and it is my teenage son Jaeden's main piano. After having the piano tuned by another tuner, we were disappointed to discover that several sticking keys we had specifically asked to have looked at were still not working properly. After several attempts to get the issue resolved and not receiving a response, we decided it was time to find another piano technician. Since this is Jaeden's main piano, he actually did the research himself and found Joel Lane with United Piano. We decided to give Joel a call, and I'm very glad we did. Joel showed up at our house exactly as scheduled. From the beginning, he was respectful, professional, and took the time to inspect the piano and explain to us what he was going to do. The difference in the level of attention and workmanship was immediately noticeable. Joel meticulously disassembled the piano keys and began working through the piano, doing the necessary tuning, adjustments, and maintenance. I watched his progress intermittently, and it was clear to me that he was actually getting into the piano and addressing the mechanical issues rather than simply tuning the notes. Joel spent just over three hours working on the piano. During the process, he also noticed that some of the keys were still off from the previous tuning and made the necessary adjustments. When he finished, Jaeden sat down and played the piano. He was thrilled with how everything felt and sounded. Most importantly, the issues that had brought us to Joel in the first place were properly addressed. As someone who doesn't know a great deal about piano repair or tuning, I really appreciated that Joel took the time to explain what he was doing and then actually took the time necessary to properly maintain the piano. This was a completely different experience from our previous service, and it gave me much more confidence that our baby grand was being properly cared for. When it's time to have the piano tuned again, I already told Joel that we'll be calling him. Thank you, Joel, for taking care of Jaeden's piano! We will definitely be using United Piano again.

Vincent answered the phone and, because of a cancellation, was able to come out the same day. He showed up as scheduled, which I appreciated. I don't know a lot about piano tuning, so I was expecting him to inspect the piano carefully, especially since I specifically asked him to look at some keys that were sticking. Most of the tuning was done using an iPad program. Vincent was very talkative and spent quite a bit of time talking about various things while working. He did wiggle and check the sticking keys briefly, but then continued with the tuning. The tuning took about an hour and a half, and I paid him $180 through Zelle. The piano is my teenage son's main piano, so when he came home from school, he was excited to play it after having it tuned. Unfortunately, he immediately noticed that the same keys were still sticking exactly as they had before. The issue had not been addressed. We contacted Vincent right away and explained what happened. He told us that he was waiting for some special piano oil and said he would take care of the problem once he received it, which he said would be in several days. We agreed to wait. A week went by without hearing anything, so I called him. He answered and said he was still waiting for the oil. A few days later, I tried calling again, but there was no answer and his voicemail was full, so I couldn't leave a message. I tried calling several more times with no response. I then went to his website and sent an email explaining the situation. I never received a response to that either. At this point, I felt like I was being ignored and decided to have another piano technician look at the piano. I also wanted a professional opinion on the sticking keys that I had originally asked Vincent to inspect. To be fair, Vincent did show up on time and did tune the piano. However, based on my experience, the tuning felt like the minimum service necessary, and the issue I specifically asked him to look at was never resolved. The biggest disappointment was the lack of follow-up and communication afterward. I paid $180 expecting not only a tuning, but also for the sticking keys to be properly evaluated. Instead, I ended up having to contact another piano technician. I'm sharing my experience so other piano owners can make their own informed decision. My experience with the initial service was acceptable, but the follow-up and customer service afterward were very disappointing.

Everyone that I had spoken with up to this point made me feel like they eere trying to squeeze as many people in as they could and for a high price. Now don't get me wrong....I totally get that you have a business to make money. But I just felt like another number and that made me question whether or not they would treat my belongings with care. However, the minute I spoke to Rachel on the phone with SC Movers, I knew that was the company that I wanted to go with! She was genuine and personable and answered all of my questions. They were also very fairly priced! Fast forward to moving day, Shawn and Cain were a few minutes early which we appreciated. They took a few moments to find out exactly what we needed and quickly accomplished it. My roommate and I were both impressed with how professional, friendly, and efficient they were. AND - they took great care of our stuff!!! So fast forward a few days. We were struggling with getting the rest of our belongings out before the final move-out date. Not that we were slacking - we just have too much stuff. Lol I called Rachel again (and, of course, she was as nice as she was the first time) and asked if there was any chance that the guys could come out in the next day or two to help again. They accommodated us the next day and did a fantastic job. So thank you, SC Movers!!! Highly recommend and will definitely use again if there's any need in the future!

He answered his phone within a couple of rings, gave a great bid, worked with our schedule, showed up on time, and moved our piano down the stairs in less than 45 minutes. He arrived on the dot. The last time my great grandmother's 1879 upright which weighs at least 800 lbs, was moved, it took 3 guys. I felt bad when I saw it was just him like maybe I should have provided more information on what kind of upright we were dealing with, but he made it look easy and handled the piano with great care. I wanted to watch the whole operation but didn't want to make him nervous haha. Then, after the move was completed, he played it a bit and revealed that it had been muted, for who knows how long, and showed me where the mute slide was. I then got to hear its full voice for maybe the first time ever. Amazing. Sadly our new home flooded the following week and we had to move the piano a little for the mitigation and will probably need to move it around some more for renovations but at least we know who to call if we need help. Thank you Larry!
