It happens over and over again. It was delicious bread but something changed. So I threw out 3-4 loaves of bread (I always buy 5-6). Wasted my money and time. I drive 20 minutes every week to get this bread but now I stop to go there. I have told them a million times to make sure the bread is cooked through because the inside is raw. They are selling expired products!!! Please check the expiration date of everything before you buy. I already told them but they did nothing. Not halal

I was in the neighborhood and stopped off to pick up some goodies. They have the giant fresh baked bread which was very good. Check out their kebabs as well. Apparently, they are only available on Saturdays after 1! I have to go back.

Don't miss the fresh baked Btead from this place! I was there this Sunday to get some. This bread tastes phenomnal with Feta Cheese and Eggs. The bread is crisp and delicious. We freeze the left overs which tastes good after toastig. But the experience of the fresh baked bread is priceless. Try to get there by 11 am before the bread gets packed (2 per bag) into plastic bags which makes them softer.

This store is HARAM!! They steal peoples money. Stay away from this store, they over charge people. I purchased this halawa about 2 days ago. And I was surprised when I see my charge in my CC. I bought halawa and btl of water and they charged me for $23!!! It clearly says on the top of the container that halawa was only $5.99. Never again purchasing from this store. Never offered a receipt. Check the other comments on this store and they experience the same thing. I called today to tell them that they doing wrong. The boss doesn't wanna talk to me. I even told them it's haram to steal peoples money. Stay away from this store!

They have good Afghani/Irani Bread. Give their bread a try if you are in San Jose or Campbell.

This place has been a San Jose staple for years and has been my go-to main supermarket for as long as I can remember. The selection covers everything you could possibly need, from international products to everyday household essentials all under one roof, the kind of variety that makes any other grocery store feel incomplete. What keeps me coming back just as much as the products is the staff. Many of them have been there for years, always friendly, always consistent, always making you feel genuinely welcomed. That kind of familiarity and warmth is something you just cannot put a price on. You come in for groceries and leave feeling like you just visited old friends. This Food Bazaar is a true San Jose international community treasure and deserves every bit of loyalty it has earned over the years. Highly recommend making it your regular stop, you won't regret it

They have amazing selection of spices, meats, breads, produce and more. The shelves are neatly organized. I love the fresh pita bread and lavash that they sell. I found my favorite brand of grape leaves. I also found the pomegranate syrup I needed and the orange blossom water for my Basbousa. They had a nice selection of fillo dough. My favorite brand is the Apollo fillo dough. I got a few boxes of that for my Armenian Paklava. And I couldn't leave without getting some fresh bread. I talked with Eddie, the owner, for a bit. He's so kind and if there's something you can't find, he'll help you get it. It's always a pleasure shopping here. They have the best international food items and excellent customer service. I highly recommend checking it out.

I've been on an aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil binge lately, and have checked out a bunch of shops ranging from San Diego to Carmel Valley near Carmel-by-the-Sea. I was excited to potentially discover a closer source of high quality balsamic vinegar and olive oil. To assess how good of a product they had, I asked for the 25 year aged balsamic and the Picual EVOO. The 25 year aged balsamic was quite watery, had OK flavor (just a bunch of basic berry and grape flavors, no honey), and had too much of a vinegary bite. In comparison, the 25 year aged balsamic that I had in Carmel Valley poured like molasses with an incredible mouthfeel, much richer and more complex flavors including oak cask flavor and an ultra-long wildflower honey note finish. Next up was the Picual EVOO. Honestly, I didn't really taste very much aside from a light olive aroma. Felt very watery, not much of that green/herbal note, no sharpness, just a whole lot of nothing. This was even more disappointing than the 25 year Balsamic. The Picual I had in Carmel Valley was punchy as it should be, tons of fresh herbs, grass, spice all up front. I don't know if it's potentially a difference in first extraction vs using the remnants/grinds. But I cannot recommend the olive oil at all. The drive really is worth it guys, until an actual proper EVOO and Vinegar places shows up in South Bay at least.

The fermentation concept is woven into everything from the beers and botanical mocktails to the food and it actually works incredibly well. The food was surprisingly memorable too, especially how vegetable-forward dishes still felt rich and satisfying. The atmosphere has this warm, artsy, almost hidden-gem energy that makes you want to stay for hours. What really stands out is that the place feels intentional. You can tell the owners care deeply about craft, community, and creating an experience instead of just another brewery. Easily one of the coolest and most distinctive food/drink concepts in San Jose right now.

Fox Tale Fermentation is a small place like a Japanese ramen shop. My high school classmate suggestion this place and I thought she was vegetarian. I asked her why this place; she wanted to try it out but she's a meat eater. I'm down to try new places so we went. When we went, it was really crowded for a Thursday dinner time. A lady saw my cane and offer her table to sit at so I felt seen. You pretty much order at the front counter; you pour your own water. Front counter was so nice to us as we try to order. We got the funk salad and kombucha. We didn't order a lot because we wanted to try the place. When we got to our table, it was near the door. Our funk salad came and it was hefty mf. It was a bowl of salad all right. So you know how I said earlier that I don't like vegetarian food? OMG I was amazed. The best salad I've eaten. The vinaigrette was so good; it was citrusy. My salad was cut into small pieces so it wasn't big that I need to cut it. The sweet potato was sauteed. The princess sauerkraut was so good. I don't like sauerkraut at all but it was divine. I never tried kombucha because I thought it was dirt tea. I was wrong. It has the fermented taste and I never knew. After trying it, it's not something I would order again. I liked how I was eating "healthy" food after I ate bad yesterday. I don't have that bad bloated feeling. It's very wheelchair friendly and restroom is unisex. The restroom is clean. The establishment is clean. I would go here again if I have a vegetarian visitor. This place rocks!

The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I am hopeful that whichever future business occupies this space is more successful.
