Disappointed. Chips straight from the bag. Salsa, meh. Ordered flautas, got taquitos. Rice and beans... meh.

Service was great and the portion sizes were very good as well. Chips are salsa were warm. Not much heat just okay. We will go back again.

I stopped in for dinner while on the road, as I was in a Mexican food mood. I had the two chickens enchiladas, rice, and beans. I think they call it the Number Five form my receipt. My ordered drink was a margarita. The margarita was good. The rice and beans were good. I have to be honest here, the chicken enchiladas did not win me as a fan. The chicken was dry and band favor to no flavor. I ask another diner how it was, and they were disappointed as well. I had to add the salsa from the chips and covered add some type of flavor as the cheese sauce did not help it. I had Mexican food from different restaurants over the years and never tasted anything like I was served. It could be a bad night. I was not impressed. It did not taste like Mexican food. Improvement is a lot needed. What I did like the atmosphere was nice and it appears lots of people were having a nice time, and the waiter staff joins in the singing happy birthday to them. Look, I understand there's not a lot of good Mexican food to choose from around this area. That being said, this is why Antonio's has such high ratings. It's just ok. Came into town to rest after a long day of driving, Antonios was right across the street from our hotel so we said to hell with it, let try it. The food was good, service great. It's your typical Tex-Mex resturant. The Salsa was really good, just add a smidge of black pepper and BOOM. I go the #10 from their lunch meni(taco and burrito w/ rice and beans) it was really good. Being a truck driver, it's hard to find good food and service on the road anymore. But this place was phenomenal! Right across the street from Petro, it's a quick easy walk for truck drivers to have an inexpensive yet really tasty hot meal with amazing customer service and peaceful fun atmosphere! Hands down the best place I've eaten at in a while! Staff smiled when they walked by, drinks never went empty and we were offered more chips and salsa throughout the entire meal. Our waitress was fun and friendly and most importantly very attentive though she was clearly busy! We will certainly be back here next time we are in the area! Food was great this last Sunday night, but the waitress seemed to have an attitude. Her body language gave me the idea she didn't like a big party (10) that late. Granted we came in late (730) on a Sunday. The order was taken correctly but there was a big lag in getting it all out to us on time. Everyone but me got their drinks refilled. I drained my glass and sat it on the end of the table. I was on the very end and she had to walk by me first. I paid the entire ticket 154 dollars and some change. I left her a tip of a dollar and a note to make sure everyone got refills. Most of my beefs are with poor wait staff and for good reasons. Food is ok. Nothing exceptional about the fare other than the mushroom queso. It's your typical run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Never excited to go back but it gets the job done. This is the second time that I've actually eaten here. I gave it a second try because honestly I thought maybe I got the cook on a bad day where the food was just mediocre and the servers were just after game. How my second visit I find out that no chef wasn't having an off day last time we put up mediocre food he's just a mediocre cook. There's no seasoning to anything, I got fajitas today and they are unseasoned huge chunks of flank steak, onions that are best halfway sautéed, and three pieces of raw Bellpepper. The waitstaff is bad is apathetic as they were last time the only difference being that I didn't actually have to Yellit her manager to get initial service they just took him forever to finally wander over to take my order. It also takes him several minutes actually bother to stop talking to each other to look around and see if any of the customers actually need anything. Seems that I have to update this person half an hour after I wrote the review. I've been trying to get someone's attention so I can actually get my bill for the last 15 minutes so I can pay and laid this rather bad excuse for a Mexican restaurant. That ultimately is why I wish I could get this place zero stars because it's a bad Mexican restaurant in Texas, yes I said a bad Mexican restaurant in Texas that she just should not happen at all ever. read more

They have definitely gone down hill the last year or so. I was never a big fan, for all the reasons other people mention.. the meat quality is meh at best on the beef and it is so so so bland. This is the Weatherford equivalent of La Mesa in Sherman... loved by locals who have no remote idea of what actual Mexican tastes like. In the past I could count on the breakfast dishes to be ok... not so much... had the Huevos Picos (spicy according to the menu) It was supposed to have jalapeno, tomato, onion, garlic, crushed red pepper and bacon. I detected zero garlic or red pepper... no salt either. Not even from the almost non existent bacon. I am usually not the type to add table salt to anything at all, but I had to salt these eggs multiple times... worse yet I had to salt refried beans... really? read more

We stopped to eat here on a Tuesday night on our way through town. The staff was friendly but the food was delicious! The sour cream sauce was the best I'd ever had. The refried beans extremely smooth but the beef fajitas that my daughter got were amazing! The beef was so tender you could cut it with a fork! I had the Huevos Rancheros, comes eggs cooked to order on top of a corn tortilla with ranchero sauce spooned over eggs, the eggs were cooked to perfect medium, served with refried beans and papas, onions, jalapeño. The Ranchero Sauce was more like a New Mexico Red Sauce to me, but GOOD. My wife had Chile Relleno - One poblano (pepper) with cheese, topped with queso sauce, served with rice, beans and guacamole' all was GOOD. Stopped by on my way to the Brazos and was pretty disappointed with my experience. Started off my meal with some salsa and queso and the salsa was pretty good but the queso was horrible. I think it was the kind of cheese they used to make it but it was not good and was extremely lumpy. For my entree I decided to get 2 chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce, double beans no rice, and an extra cheese enchilada on the side. I review this place bout 7 years ago or so, not much has changed, service still some of the best around if not the best; food is also great I really love the shrimp tacos and fish ceviche, a few new faces but looks like Antonio the owner implements same service quality principles with new recruits that's why service still at top even with new people. This is the best Mexican and tex-mex restaurant I have had in the entire DFW area. There is a large menu of delicious items to choose from, and the vegetables are always fresh. Also, they are always willing to customize any dish to satisfy you. Customers often include people visiting from Mexico who are pleased to see how much effort Antonio's puts into satisfying their patrons. This is a restaurant, not a taqueria, so there's no horchata, but all the delights of Mexican and tex-mex cuisine are here. Lunch was such a disappointment. Maybe I should know better than to order a chicken fried steak at a Mexican food restaurant. It was fried but it certainly wasn't a steak. It was like the chicken fried steak you buy at Walmart in the freezer section. The cheese enchiladas my husband ordered could have been bought at Walmart, also and cooked in the microwave. This is a local place where the owner will come out an greet you sometime during your meal. The food is good but I don't know that I would say it is great. It definitely is a family run business as the feel is more personable than a franchise but there is something lacking in my opinion. You can "ask" for anything you would like to make the menu to your liking but you will pay for that. Seems to me a small portion of dressing or a dollop of sour cream should not be reason to up the bill. The little things add up to me and the little bit here and there that is less than par is the reason I just say this place is ok. The table and chairs are stark, the atmosphere is empty and the food is just ok. Nothing really grabs me here and says excellence. Don't know that I would want to take a guest here that I would want to impress.
