We really liked this restaurant. We were treated and seated almost immediately. The wait staff was there for drink orders immediately. I got the frozen peach margarita and my wife got a double old fashion. I can honestly say that the peach margarita actually had a ton of peach flavor which was a plus for me. We wanted to try the table side guacamole, but when we watched it being made for a table by us, we realized that we could in no way finish or make a dent in how big it was. It looked really good though. We ordered the white queso. It had great flavor and was perfect for the 3 of us. I got the enchilada plate that came with 2 cheese enchiladas, a crispy taco, salad, refried beans, and rice. Everything was very good and it was way too much food. My wife got the 3 verde chicken enchiladas with double refried beans and our son got the chicken chimmey with refried beans and rice. They both loved their plates as well. Also on a side note, the hot sauce didn't have a ton of cilantro in it which is a huge plus for me as I hate cilantro. We had a huge take home plate and got out of there for 80$ with alcohol drinks. This was my first time visiting. The chips with hot sauce and blanco queso was good, hot sauce had a good flavor. I had street tacos with charro beans. Both were very bland, I couldn't take any seasoning. The other guest had beef enchiladas and felt the same about her meal. Our server was good and the restaurant itself had a good atmosphere. We've been here so many times, today was definitely the last. Sat at our table for almost 10mins before a server came to get our drink order. Never apologized for the wait, or asked how we were doing or even told us her name. Then we ordered table side guacamole. The young kid making our guac dropped the pit from the avocado then bent over, picked it off the filthy floor and then continued making our guacamole without changing gloves. So gross! Then multiple orders at our table were incorrect and the kids meal chicken fajita taco came with only chicken and nothing else. Again, we've been here before, so we know what the taco typically looks like. The waiter apologized, brought a small bowl of cheese so we could top it ourselves. Then has the audacity to charge us for cheese on the bill and argued with me that the kids tacos never come with cheese. Then why have they every other time? The dining experience left much to be desired. The food was overpriced and of mediocre quality, falling short of authentic Mexican cuisine. The tortillas were not homemade, and the chips and salsa lacked distinction. On a positive note, the customer service was excellent, the establishment was clean, and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, given the high prices, I expected a little more. We will definitely give it another try. So I have been here a few times and each has become worse than the time before. The refried beans tasted like watered down disgusting canned beans (seriously canned beans that have been watered down) - definitely not made fresh or from scratch - the rice of course is always prepackaged, flavorless - the shrimp not grilled, frozen warmed up and dumped in some fajita mixture of bell peppers, onions and jalapeños, very bland. Not to mention they brought me pot roast like steak by accident when I ordered shrimp. I watched them take my accidentally served steak, take it back and the server took it to the table they were all sitting at and eat off the returned plate - um that is a no go for anyone - I took the food home - to see if my dogs will eat it - not because I wanted to eat another bite - dogs pretty much will eat anything. My husband's tacos had meat in it that was to beef that tasted like Pot Roast - what the fudge. Even the queso fundido- is not that great - the change is just not up to par. They charged $10 for 4 sopapillas- which were nothing special - I ordered my son a huge burrito to go - just to see what he thought - well he stated the pork burrito tasted like a stew - this is not good - why does everything taste like stew or roast - such a shame this is what happens when you try to cut corners. I believe this place has failed it's partner in Stephenville - and I believe this place has cut way too many corners and is solely relying on the bar aspect - Maybe Azteca should go to Uncle Julios and see what or how a chain can do a bit better - not perfect but definitely better than Azteca. My husband has stated we will not return - I find very sad - Azteca is on a corner that has had many failures and I sure hope they will survive by changing their ways of the precooked food read more

Besides finding a hair in a lettuce side, the salsa Fresca was at least a day old. The meat in the tacos was rubbery and there were flies everywhere. Staff was nice (they can't help the kitchen which needs an overhaul) and parking good. Ordered one of my favorites, Taco Jalisco. this time a combo of carnitas and grilled chicken. We have been twice now. The service was good and kind both times. The ambiance was nice. The parking is a little bit of a pain, but that's just the location. The first time we went there was about a 30 minute wait and the second time the kitchen was slow. The waitress did give us a heads up about the kitchen being backed up, which we appreciated. Service was great but the food was lacking flavor and came out luke warm. Only one person of our table of 8 enjoyed their meal. We all tried different things. The brisket tacos was the dish the one person had. Rice tasted like Uncle Ben's microwaveable rice. Refried beans were watery. The water had a funky taste to it. The salsa was great but chips tasted like bagged chips and queso was lacking spice. It also came out thick and cold. I just tried this place because it has been several other restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised. Since it is Saturday I was able to order the pozole, one of my favorites ( only available on the weekends.) Fantastic! They have a BIG selection of margaritas and I ordered the mangonada which was great also. Chips and salsa with a side of guacamole were also delicious. The service was very good. Azteca: Come for the flat beer, stay for the gaslighting! We had tried this restaurant once before and it was so-so. Last night (Friday) we went to Azteca for a second time and sat at the bar. We ordered draft beers and they were coming out foam. The bartender was pouring them over into our glasses from other glasses. I told the manager I was concerned that the beer would be flat and showed him what was happening. He told me the kegs had gotten shaken up and it had made the beer extra sudsy, not flat at all! What? At long last the bartender sat the beers in front of us and they were completely 100% flat. I told her my beer was flat and she said "No, it's not." I asked if she would try the beer (since she apparently didn't believe me) and she said "No. I don't drink beer." She was super aggressive and it was really weird. She kept insisting that the beer wasn't flat. Anyway, obviously we just left and went to Oaxaca nearby, which was amazing as always. I posted this story in a local "Eats & Drinks" group and it was removed with no applicable explanation, which is highly suspicious. I'll avoid Azteca like the plague henceforth. read more

We had passed this restaurant many times when the parking lot was full. We decided to give it a try. We ordered queso with beef. It was good. Everyone has a type of chips that they like. These are sturdy and okay. I prefer the lighter, crispier chips. My husband had tacos Jalisco and said that they were wonderful! I had taco salad and it was fine.
