Shrimp Quesadillas
Angela K.

The dining experience left much to be desired. The food was overpriced and of mediocre quality, falling short of authentic Mexican cuisine. The tortillas were not homemade, and the chips and salsa lacked distinction. On a positive note, the customer service was excellent, the establishment was clean, and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, given the high prices, I expected a little more. We will definitely give it another try. Hopefully we just caught them on a busy night and they haven't quite got the swing of things yet.

Salsa
Victor I.

Service was fast to sit us down and get our drinks and our order. After they it was slow. Salsa and chips are awesome queso was really good too. After that the food went down hill. The sauce for the enchiladas was really bad, the beans had no flavor and the chicken was dry. The restaurant was nice, clean and big. They need work on the food and the service.

This was our first time to try Azteca it was great! We will definitely be back!!!!!!!! The service was great, the food came out quick and was really good. The margaritas were good and the table side guacamole. We have no complaints

Rubbery meat w salsa Fresca
Pamela H.

Besides finding a hair in a lettuce side, the salsa Fresca was at least a day old. The meat in the tacos was rubbery and there were flies everywhere. Staff was nice (they can't help the kitchen which needs an overhaul) and parking good. The location is perfect however I don't know if they'll make it due to the poor food quality.

Carnitas

Bit of an off night but still my go to in Weatherford. Slight delay getting drink and chips/salsa. Asked for no ice in drink. Strike one. Ordered one of my favorites, Taco Jalisco. this time a combo of carnitas and grilled chicken. Carnitas flavor was excellent but the kitchen included some gristle (see photo) that was unexpected and took the meal down a notch. Minor complaints but I try to be accurate and fair.

Chips, salsa, green sauce

Ready enjoyed our meal. The white queso is worth the price of admission. The fajitas, tacos, chips, dips were all tasty.

The rumors are true Rio Brazos Grill is fantastic. Not "good for a small town," not "surprisingly…read moredecent" just flat-out good. The kind of place where it's immediately obvious someone in the kitchen actually knows what they're doing, which already puts it ahead of most restaurants pretending to. The meal starts strong with flash-fried calamari Fresno chilies, sweet chili sauce, balanced heat, and a clean execution. It comes as strips, which feels a little safe. Rings or whole baby squid would've shown more technical confidence, but fine the flavor still delivers, and at the end of the day, that's what people actually remember. The Calabria chili shrimp follows with the same sense of control: spicy, but not trying to prove a point. Paired with grilled baguette, it does exactly what it's supposed to do support the dish instead of getting in the way. And then there's the Chicken Fried Ribeye, which sounds like a bad decision until you eat it. Crispy on the outside, rich and tender underneath, covered in black pepper gravy with buttermilk mashed potatoes, a potato nest, and because apparently restraint is optional--two fried quail eggs. It's excessive, but not stupid. That's a very fine line, and they walk it well. Chef Clint Connaway clearly has classical training--nobody just stumbles into a proper beurre blanc. The menu pulls from Southwestern, Native American, Mexican and French influences, which should feel chaotic but somehow doesn't. It works because the execution is consistent, even when the ideas get a little ambitious. That said, the place isn't perfect. The quail eggs show up so often they start to feel less like a signature and more like a habit. And for all the technical skill, there's a noticeable lack of local identity. With Bosque Ranch right down the road, it's hard not to wonder why more local beef isn't front and center. A stronger focus on seasonal or locally sourced ingredients would push this from great to something more grounded--something that actually tastes like where you are. And then there's the obvious question: why no brunch? A kitchen like this could absolutely dominate a brunch service. Instead, it's just... not happening, which feels like wasted potential. Still, none of that changes the core truth. The food is thoughtful, the technique is real, and most importantly you leave feeling satisfied instead of questioning your life choices. That alone is worth something.

This place is busy and packed but offers an ocean vibe without the ocean view. They still had decorations set up for Christmas which was over the top lovely festive. Even though it was a cool 52 degrees outside, the patio was covered and had heaters that offered plenty of warmth. Beers were cold - food was hot! We started with Hawaiian roll ham and cheese sliders- the same kind you tailgate with but BETTER! I opted for the Southern Chicken which was a 3 piece breast, drumstick, and thigh on top of a mound of waffle fries, bread and pickles, perfectly complimented with a grilled fresh jalapeño. The chicken was a little dry but had so much flavor. My husband had the Shrimp Cocktail that came with a tequila shot on the side (bonus for me..)! It is not spicy at all so if you like heat- ask for your hot sauce of choice on the side. We were here for about 3 hours and the regulars remained as new patrons consistently walked in. When coming with a large group, know that this is a seat yourself establishment and tables are all busy- plan ahead. FINS is worth the drive from Fort Worth. Come one, come all!

Great burger spot with option for gluten free buns…read more Food: I got the Guac Burger and it was excellent. You can actually taste the flavor of the meat instead of it just being lost in toppings. The gluten free bun was a pleasant surprise too; it held together really well and didn't fall apart like most do. Fries were tasty and well seasoned. Prices: It wasn't bad at all. $20 for the burger (with the gluten free bun upcharge) and a drink felt fair for what you get. Service: Good when my waitress was around. She was friendly. Just wish she'd checked in a little more often. Environment: Nice patio for when the weather's good, and the inside has a cool vibe. You can tell it gets packed though, so definitely make a reservation or go early if you can. Will for sure be going back. Biggest issue was parking. It's on the edge of downtown Weatherford, so good luck finding a spot around meal time

The burgers reminded us of a backyard burger that your grandpa would grill up at a bbq and the juiciness was perfect. Our waitress recommended extra crispy bacon and the chefs definitely delivered! We really enjoyed our time at Shep's along with the chill vibe and will definitely make a stop back in next time we're in TX Side note- love the bathroom writing! Really positive stuff that made me smile
