    XL Cheese Pizza

Was in the area for youth travel sports. Was in the mood for pizza and fortunately had stopped into Antonio's. We ordered an extra large cheese pizza and small margarita pizza. We watched the dough freshly prepared and topped. The pizzas were plentiful and delicious. Had the pleasure of chatting with Antonio, a hard-working gentleman along with his staff. We'll definitely come back!

    Pizza large cheese

Pizza was thin and crispy as requested. Could've used some more cheese and topping it to the edge. Eggplant parm sub was good and included some chips.

THIS IS NOT WHAT I ORDERED

I ordered a medium Penne Vodka with sausage pizza and wings at 7:35PM via Yelp. Delivery via GrubHub was estimated for 40 minutes to an hour later. When it got to 9:20PM, I called GrubHub. They called the restaurant and relayed to me that the driver was "2 minutes away". Fifteen minutes later, a car rolled into the hotel parking lot. A nice lady apologized and handed a pizza box and some wings to me. I went upstairs and opened the box and examined the contents. I honestly have no idea what kind of pizza they delivered, but it was definitely not a Penne Vodka with sausage pizza. Those tend to have penne pasta, vodka sauce, and sausage. I immediately called the restaurant. The man I spoke to confirmed that my order was incorrect and asked if I wanted him to fix it. I stated that I did, he promised that it would be on its way immediately. It's been an hour and 10 minutes. They closed 50 minutes ago. I was pretty sure they' weren't coming. At approximately 11:30, my pizza finally arrived. Stone cold, but finally here. It tasted OK after a minute or so on the microwave. Tl;dr: incredibly late delivery. wrong order. Even later redelivery. NEVER AGAIN.

Major props to Antonio's for delivering during the COVID outbreak! The lady and I were looking for somewhere to snag delivery from on a Friday evening and Antonio's was right around the corner, so we figured...why not?! She ordered their basic calzone (just cheese) and I got an Italian Hoagie with a large Caesar (came with garlic bread). Delivery arrived in just under the estimated time (45mins) in about 35mins. The calzone was top notch - really nice crisp on the dough with a good crust to cheese ratio and a tasty tomato sauce to accompany it. The GF rated an 8/10, I'd give roughly the same. The Chicken Caesar salad I got was actually the highlight of the meal. The dressing was definitely house-made, and had an excellent flavor that was heavier on the parmesan. It was a perfect compliment the fresh romaine and chicken, which was cooked to perfection. Many times, chicken that comes with a Caesar salad is pre-cooked and dried out, but this grilled chicken was not dry at all and had a solid flavor to it. I ordered the "large" size which came with garlic bread. The garlic bread was the same bread they use for their sandwiches but uncut and with a nice garlic butter spread across the top - a nice treat. The croutons in the salad also appeared to be house made, I believe that it was their bread they used for their sandwiches and garlic bread cut small and seasoned/fried. They weren't as crunchy as the typical store-bought crouton but I appreciated this. I do like to judge an Italian restaurant or deli by their Caesar Salad and Italian Hoagie, and the hoagie was the more lackluster of the two. While it was definitely not bad, the qualities that REALLY MAKE a stellar hoagie just weren't there. I would have preferred a bit more of a spicier salami and maybe sharp provolone. The salami did not have enough bite to cut through the mild provolone and the heavy ham flavor. The bread had a nice outer chew to it but coming from Trenton and knowing the value in a nice crusty, chewy roll for an Italian hoagie, I'd stick with other menu items from Antonio's such as their calzone. Next time, I'll be giving their pizza a shot and see how it holds up against their peers.

    Cheese and "Corleone" style slices

This place recently opened up and the curb appeal caught my eye. It has a nice new sign and the inside certainly follows suit as well. Very clean and a good place to grab a quick slice or sandwich. I had 2 slices and some wings. Unfortunately, as I ate my lunch, my enjoyment went down. I first ate the traditional cheese slice. It was a pretty good--a standard slice, but could have had a little bit more sauce to it. The slice also had a decent thickness to it. As for their "Corleone" style, it's a thin and crispy square pizza. For my liking, it was too thin and crispy-- I need a little bit of chew! Lastly, the wings were terrible. They were those crappy breaded wings served dry with a side of hot sauce. I'd expect the same from a rest stop. A few other things I've noticed. Their website has pictures of a traditional pizzeria with checkered tablecloth layered over white tablecloths. It portrays a completely different atmosphere and I was a little surprised when I walked in. Another thing I was confused about is the name. "Antonio's Old World Pizza". To me, I'm thinking straight from Italy. I was a little disappointed to see the pizza ovens as opposed to a brick or wood fired oven. And finally, the music in a restaurant being played should be for the customers, not the employees. For some reason, I'm in an Italian eatery and they're playing music in Spanish I can't understand. If I'm eating tacos in a Mexican place? Awesome, it adds to the ambiance, but it doesn't make sense here. I'd give this place another try, but I'll probably be walking instead of running to it.

Ravioli was stuffed with fresh cheese.

Plain cheese pizza was very bad. Maybe it was an off day or just take-out. Garlic knots were good.

They brought a giant bowl of salad for the table to share which was nice. All was going well until the entrees came. They were all disappointing. I ordered the Joe's Seafood over homemade spaghetti. The seafood (clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops) were dropped in a smaller than expected portion and I suspect the seafood was frozen. It was mixed into the pasta and no shells at all. Others ordered the lobster over pasta, broiled seafood and other seafood dishes. The fish was definitely not fresh. The side vegetables of broccoli (frozen and overcooked to mush) and baked potatoes were not good. I would come back for apps and drinks and maybe even happy hour but NEVER for dinner.

Each table was equipped with quality olive oil and other necessary accompaniments (cheese, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper) so everyone could season their dipping oil to their liking. We decided to skip appetizers tonight, something we rarely do, and it ended up being a great decision as the entree portion sizes were huge. Each entree came with a choice of salad, Caesar or House.
