It was a few years since we last dined here. Good to know you can now make a reservation. We've always enjoyed the Signature Pie and shared a small salad which had been plenty for two. The crust was more of a cracker rather than a thin crust pizza. While we generally enjoy a well done pie this really bordered on over done, resulting in the cracker type texture. We also remember the chopped tomatoes being robust and it was sparse, though it was still tasty. We shared a wedge salad that was really just for one. With so many pizza options in the area not in a hurry to return. read more

I had a great experience at Tacconelli's. I thought the thin crust pizza had great flavor and texture. Thin crust may not be for everyone but I'm a fan and it was cooked well. The pastas are also decent but I felt the pizzas are a must get. They also allow customization for the toppings. There is ample seating and parking in the back but it can get packed in the restaurant. It is a great setting for large groups. Highly recommend! read more

It's a different kind of pizza. Like a delicacy. It's the best if you want something light. There's pasta dishes that are also excellent.

Started off with a small Caesar salad, which was big enough to share. Very tasty. Our pizza was slightly over cooked as some of the pepperoni was well done. The other half had spinach which had almost no flavor. The place was busy with large parties so it did take a while to get our pizza. Our server was nice, refilled water glasses as needed. With low ceiling it made it difficult to hear one another. Strangely enough they ran out of pizza boxes for our leftovers. So they were layered on top of one another allowing the toppings, sauce and cheese to get every where - not the best way to package up leftovers. read more

The pizza is good. I Love their salad! Am I going to wait two hours for it good? No. Never again. My husband and I went there for dinner on a random weeknight. We both had a really busy and long day. We barely ate and were STARVING. We don't go out to eat much but the entire point was we didn't want to cook, we wanted something quick and close. To start we each got our own side salad to hold us over. I don't think a side anything would have been able to hold us over for this wait. We ordered one simple pizza, that it is it. That's all they do! It's their one job lol other than pasta. Well, we sat there and waited and waited .. so much waiting I even got to watch one table in the corner get served .. paid .. left .. another family came in and sat there. They too got served, paid ... left. Two turnarounds and still I wait for my one pizza. I looked around and watched other tables who came in way after us get served, holding their slices, taking bites, laughing .. I'm starving. I felt very singled out at this point and out of hunger and frustration could almost feel my eyes water. We only had the server stop by to refill our water. We were even told that our pizza "would be right out" but continued to wait another hour. I wish she would have been more attentive, I wish she would have refilled my salad not my water. I wish she would've said we are backed up and still may be a little while instead of telling me it's coming right out. I wish she would have done anything but ignore the one and only table not getting the one and only thing they make! Now yes there was a function in the private eating area but.. no excuse. TWO HOURs for a pizza . why did I have to watch the entire restaurant get served twice? If you can't balance both then don't do it. We tipped her off course cause we live in wild times where we reward people for doing nothing or the bare minimum. Did she deserve it ? No .. I had put my purse on and was ready to walk out when it finally came. We ate we were both miserable at this point. I got there at 6:20 and got home , which is up the street, at 8:30. We had other things to do that night but didn't get to any of it cause of the one single two hour pizza. I don't think I'll be back at least not anytime soon read more

If your style pizza is thin and crispy this is the place for you. I called around 6:30 and placed an order for pick up. I ordered a plain red pie and asked if they could have it ready for 7:20. The girl answering the phones was upbeat and friendly and had no issues making accommodations for me. They are cash only which I was notified over the phone when placing my order. I arrived at 7:19 to pick up my order and it came out of the oven pretty much right at 7:20. The pie looked beautiful. I thought it looked so good I sent pictures of it to a bunch of family and friends who all also thought it looked great. I wanted to look at it before I left the restaurant and I'm glad I did. It made me excited to arrive at my destination so I could eat. The sauce was a tad sweet for me but the thin and crispy texture of the crust was perfect. Portions though were pretty small even for dinner portions? Three stars though because service was lacking. Our server was nice enough but there was an edge to her. Food was slow and two items were missing. The worst part was the forgotten food items were for the littlest ones so there was some crankiness amongst our guests that we felt badly about. Wow! I knew about the Philadelphia location, and just learned about this one. In fact, my former neighbor is in the family. I'd never been to either location until last night. There was a small celebration in a private room. Very nice décor. 16 pizzas had to be ordered (for around only 30 guests) to book the room - interesting. I LOVE pizza, but how much could you possibly eat, especially with all of the other goodies being served? Their gnocchi was fantastic, and the sauce was delicious as well. (My dad even liked it and he doesn't even fancy gnocchi). Good bread, and everything else that I tried. We had such a nice dinner here the other night for a friends birthday! Service was super friendly and quick, and we really appreciated the honest recommendations from our server (everything she recommended was absolutely delicious). Three of us split the gnocchi gorgonzola and a plain pie with mushrooms. We probably could have used one more dish (another pasta or a salad) since there were three of us. Wow! Even if you flunk out of culinary school you can still make a living. Ok we tried out this place for first time. Nice ambiance so we THOUGHT this might be a good place to eat. Hoo boy were we wrong. The VERY limited menu consisted of pasta dishes and pizza only. We ordered a signature white pizza and a plain pizza and a large salad. The salad was fresh but lacked enough dressing to actually taste flavored. The pizza was charcoaled like a burnt offering to a deity. The white pizza was actually brown and tasted like charcoal. The plain pizza was more like a hot tomato pie. The ONLY saving feature was the dessert. The dark side of the moon and the tartufu were delicious. Oh yes - this place is CASH ONLY. Now I know why. Why haven't I ordered from here earlier? This pizza is awesome. Perfect crust, nice variety of pizza types and toppings to choose from. Can takeout or eat-in. It's easy to order online. The pick-up time was the exact time my pizza was ready. They are known for their pastas and Gelato too. I'll have to get one of each next time. Huge parking lot behind restaurant to use for dining in our taking out. Tips for online ordering: 1. Garlic is Garlic Powder. There is no fresh garlic as a topping. 2. Well Done Crust is their "normal" preparation. You can get it undercooked so you can reheat at home or more well done to your desire. They only take reservations by phone. Don't bother placing an order by phone. It'll be quicker to do it online. I'll be back for sure! read more

I was finally able to try this Tacconelli outpost! It's just as busy as the original so I suggest making a reservation, however you do not need to order your dough in the morning like the original. The pizza is delicious! We always order a plain pie. This one has a thin crust, slightly sweet sauce and a nice amount of cheese. It has a crunchy crust with some charring. The Margherita was also delicious. The fresh mozzarella and basil were so good. The spinach and tomato pie is a favorite! It has just the right amount of veggies and cheese. This location also has salad and dessert. We shared a salad. It had a good mixture of lettuce, tomato and cucumber. The balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. The gelato was yummy! You offer "not well done", "well done" and "burnt" as options. Ordered this one not well done - it's burned to a crisp and completely dried out. The red "XCHZ" pie, ordered "well done", is completely black and barely has as much cheese as the white. Hubs had been wanting to give this place a try for a while. We were really happy to find out that they have a location in NJ so we didn't have to travel to Philadelphia. We arrived right before the lunch hour rush and were immediately seated. The restaurant is large and vast, with the space seemingly going on for miles. The lighting is dim, almost in a romantic manner. Rows of lights dangle from the ceiling near the front of the restaurant and sconces adorn the rightmost wall. A long, continuous booth runs along the rightmost wall, while regular booths sit along the leftmost wall. There were regular tables with chairs sit in the center with one table being round. We ordered 2 pies: One with hot sausage and anchovies and the other one was a Margherita pie. Both pies were delicious. It was hot and the undercarriage was perfect! The pies were surprisingly quick. We enjoyed watching the owner making the pizza pies and putting it into the oven. Obviously, they perfected the technique! Almost forgot. The waitress asked us if we wanted some hots. I thought it came along with it since she asked. Nope, we got charged. Didn't matter. It was only 75 cents. The lunch crowd eventually came in and the place was busy! Service was friendly and quick. I have a pretty firm stance that really good pizza is hard to come by in South Jersey. Tacconelli's is one of the few pizzerias that is an exception to this. I visited their previous Moorestown location in what feels like a million years ago. Since then, I've eaten a lot of pizza and have come to think of myself as somewhat of a connoisseur. Although, I can't fully remember all the details of my first visit, I do remember enjoying the experience and most importantly the pie. Fast forward to a decade later and I find myself ordering from here with a friend that appreciates pizza almost as much as me. We tried their red/plain pie w/pepperoni - thin crust, flavorful red sauce and mozzarella w/roni cups (the good kind curl while cooking). It was fantastic. Recently, my friends and I caught wind that Dr. Brewlittle's Beer Co. opened nearby. Needless to say, we paid the brewery a visit and ordered from Tacconelli's which is just 2 blocks away - a combination that I highly recommend. This time we did a red pie w/pepperoni along with a margarita - both were exceptionally good and didn't last very along amongst the group. Looking back at my previous review, I complained about the prices being too high but 22 year old me has since learned that you pay for what you get. We ordered the white cheddar Mac & Cheese for my son. It was on the watery side, but he still ate it. When we asked for napkins, our server came back with only 2 napkins and told us "it was all she could find". That was a first for me! The pizza was just ok. I haven't been to the Philly Tacconelli's location but recently met some friends at the newer Maple Shade location. The restaurant itself is very big and has several seating areas. We were given a table at the front of the restaurant overlooking Main Street. Our server was friendly and extremely attentive. We had no complaints as some other Yelpers had mentioned. The pizza itself was very good. We ordered two pies for four people, a regular and a formaggio white pie The Taconelli crust is thinner and crispy then most standard pizzas I have had in our area. We didn't add any toppings. I did really like the pizza but it wasn't an "oh wow" experience for me. It was very, very good but not great. For dessert, I ordered the Key Lime Cheesecake and that was excellent. It was not overly sweet and the Key Lime taste was just the right percentage. After 4 years of living in Maple Shade, finally made a trip to Taconelli's on Main St. As a good judging point, I ordered the "Signature" on one half of my pizza and the other half with hot sausage and mushroom. I also ordered two of their large caesar salads - one for myself and one for the girlfriend. The pizza comes in one size, roughly 13" if I had to estimate. The pie was definitely cooked fresh, as I saw it come out of the oven when I came and picked it up. The staff was friendly and looked like they were enjoying making fresh pizzas and pasta (would like to get back in the future for a pasta dish). For the size of the pizza and two salads, I do feel the price point of $50+ was a bit unwarranted, but I wanted to let the food speak for itself before writing it off simply due to the price point. However, despite the awards and recognition all over their wall and the famous Taconelli's name, I was a bit let down. While the toppings were very flavorful, the crust lacked any real chew or body and was ultra-thin and crispy. Some may prefer this, but I like to have a little bit more body and chew to my pizza crust. Even though I usually order my pies with just slightly less cheese than standard, I felt this pie could have used a touch more. I feel like the pizza would serve better as a KILLER bar pie, as it was super light on the gut and toppings, and would be great to split over a few beers with your respective other at the bar. If I knew this was the style going in for their pizza I would have likely skipped out. The Caesar dressing was nice, though, and had a nice brightness to it with a touch of extra lemon. So all in all, despite the fame around their name, friendly staff and general hype of the establishment, I likely won't be back as I didn't feel that their style of pizza really suited my taste and was (in my opinion) overpriced. read more

I was here for a private event, a wine tasting to be exact. Cesca Family Wines to be exact. I came directly from work and could feel myself on edge and just a nudge away from being in a really rotten mood. Everyone went out of their way to make me and the whole group of 25 feel welcomed and engaged. Once the wine started flowing woke mood disappeared and a state of calm washed over me. The owner was there welcoming us all and his son is the main chef. He also came out to address the group - very handsome young man I may add. Ok, anyway...about the food. Their homemade pasta stole the show. I do not eat meat so for me there was a gnocchi in a Gorgonzola sauce....omg so tasty. The gnocchi were so soft and fluffy. The sauce was nowhere near as heavy as some cheese sauces tend to me. They sent out several meatless pizzas, in a margarita girl so yes the classic was my favorite here. The staff was friendly and attentive, the place is clean and very busy. There were many people coming in to pick up their take out and there were several large parties dining in.
