They have a hard time doing even the simple things correctly... when u order your sandwich with meat cheese and mayo only to get home on a regular basis and figure out they either didnt put cheese or mayo on the sandwich is kind of pathetic... this happens on regular basis!!! I have complained to the owner but he doesnt seem to care cuz half the time hes the one making them to begin with... read more

When I'm in the area I'm stopping by! The Italian sub was REALLY good! I mean GOOOOOD! You know the kind of good that you feel when you're eating it you're having an experience and don't really care what you look like when you eat it? Yeah that kind! The peppers they add to it really make it. It's a lot of food, enough so, that both my eyes and my stomach were ready to throw in the towel, but I wouldn't let them!! No quit in our book! Antonini's is clearly the only restaurant in Houston that took up the challenge of naming a restaurant after the first word on their iPhone's predictive keyboard. Or at least the only one that has survived a total reliance on word of mouth and the totality of the evidence of existence from its outside encompassing all of the word "SUBS" posted above a white-red-and-green windowsill. Once you realize Antonini's isn't an unemployment home for Italian substitute teachers or a German U-boat manufacturing facility, and are greeted by friendly people asking you if you've been there before with half an eye still expertly fixed on a sandwich griddle, and the other half silently directing you to the many accolades and autographed pictures of illustrious patrons from NASA posted on the wall, you stop thinking you're at the wrong gig and prepare yourself to devour what you'll soon discover to the most "pure bred" Italian sub in the Houston area. The TV perched above the fridge transparently chock-full of soft drinks, bagged iceberg and Galbani provolone cheese proclaimed that the French women's soccer team was not doing all that "hot" in the sweltering 95-degree summer weather of Paris, as they lost to the US 2-1 during our visit. So my maternal dining companion and I, having ourselves weathered 90-degree Parisian heat in metros almost exactly one year prior, took pity on the partly French waitress behind the counter and ordered their signature "cold" sandwich - the Italian sub with more cold cuts than a "Roast Me" Reddit special. We watched our waitress slice a bumper crop of onions while our sandwich was being made and were glad that she wasn't crying because of France losing. However, the sky outside was bidding her "Anything you can do, I can do better - I can do anything better than you" for no apparent reason, threatening to remind us we were in Houston by carrying our vehicle halfway across the street upon water like it was the hot rod that Jesus drove, to helpfully save on the gas bill we were about to have to incur at Shell. At risk of my being left to pick up the check, she left in a hurry to move the car to a safer location "within bounds" of the front door, and return to two not-piping-hot sandwiches, one of them having defeated the other two halves to one. And within one bite, we saw why despite France's enormous culinary contributions to the world as one of the top cuisines on the planet, America was victorious this time. The Italian sub was invented by Giovanni Amato in Portland, Maine in 1903, and has become an icon of Italian-American food that spawned imitations across the fast-food universe obviously sponsored by The Matrix, never replicating the original glory of the real thing. While the aforementioned iceberg lettuce is a slight imperfection, the top-quality provolone and cold cuts glisten with slippery sheen like they'd just been shipped from the manufacturer, piled ridiculously high until the sides of the sandwich are unable to hide them, and then laced with the single most delicious hot pepper spread ever conceived of. So good, in fact, it's sold out front by the register to take home. Equal parts vinegary and peppery without causing coughs or five-alarm fires within one's mouth, working in equal balance for a double whammy of zippy chile flavor, the sandwich simply would not taste the same without it, and is the knockout punch that would end any bout against any other sub it was thrown into the ring with. Capicola, ham, salami, provolone, and midway-dense Italian hoagie roll meld beneath its magic, yet the sheer density of the wall of cold cuts keeps the flavor sturdy long enough for a deliciously meaty aftertaste. Such a culinary masterwork requires an actual cool-down in the form of an all-but-cool bag of Zapp's Hotter-n-Hot potato chips, themselves tantalizingly walking the lines of thirst-inducing salty and nose-tingling spicy. Antonini's motto is "Quality is not an accident," and Mike Antonini defies the list of classic food items created accidentally that includes the onion ring, popsicle, and beer, to fly the flag of another of America's classics. Yet the Italian roots of the sandwich and himself are certainly strong, with an Italian flag and a collection of rusty saws and machetes mounted on the wall alongside many of Antonini's personal successes. Still, if we have made pizza our own and evolved it into two uniquely American styles in Chicago and New York, becoming one of the single most popular foods in America, there is no reason the Italian sub shouldn't become as (in)famous. Except that, perhaps, we need a little prodding before seeing the word "subs" becomes as powerful an influence on our stomach as seeing the word "pizza." SUBS! SUBS! SUBS! This place doesn't advertise and there's a reason why, HE DOESN'T HAVE TO! - Great Subs! After seeing this on the show "Texas bucket list" I had to try a classic East Coast hoagie. Pressed for time I got a foot-long to go and made a couple of stops before I got home. First of all the bread is high-quality, very dense, rustic and never soggy. The Italian classic meats and peppered ham. What I enjoyed most was the aftertaste. No more Jersey Mike's for this kid! 5/26/19. I tried the cheesesteak on this visit and was not impressed. A few coworkers and friends said this was a great family owned restaurant to get a nice sub. I got the Cheese Steak. Sounded very appetizing. And also looked the part. They brought the cheese steak out to me. One half was decent. The other half was nothing but onions.!!! Literally nothing but onions. An onion sub if you would.!! So I spit it on the tray. Who wants to eat an onion sandwich.? Ew. So I bring it back. The grill cook and owner both came of with an attitude. They end up remaking the sandwich. And taking everything off my tray and put it all back on the grill with my new sandwich. THEY MIXED MY SPIT AND EVERYTHING OFF MY OLD SANDWICH WITH MY NEW SANDWICH. The cook was absolutely careless. If you're looking for a LARGE sub Antonini's is the place to go! A huge and fresh bun (French bread?) holds a substantial amount of fresh deli meats were loaded onto my recommended Italian sub. The location in Webster isn't fancy or pricey, just highly recommended. read more

Sigh.. I really wanted to love this place based on the reviews. I was recommend by a coworker of mine that has lived in the area his entire life. He praised this sub shop! I went with 2 other coworkers during the lunch "rush." There were only 6 customers that came in and out during the 20 minutes that we were there. I could tell that a few people were regulars by the way they spoke to the 2 employees that were working. It's a small shop with lots of personality on the wall! I got the cheese steak, and it was subpar at best :( Compliments: They are quite generous with the meat, the mayo tasted great, and the price was right! Criticisms: The cheese was hardly melted, the bread tasted average/was very hard on the ends, and the steak lacked seasoning. EVERYTHING is good here. Everything? Yes EVERYTHING! Well the only items I haven't tried are the breakfast items but everything from the tuna to the burger are just so delicious. We go here at least once a week since trying it for the 1st time during the snow storm of '21. They were one of the few businesses open. Delaware? Italian Subs? I'm sure you're shaking your head, but for those of us who've traveled I-95 more than few times, you realize that the D is a stones throw form Philly. And Philly is has at least 3 noteworthy sandwiches courtesy of hungry N. Easterners and folks running Legitimate businesses. Getting here - A breeze, it's right off Highway 3. Pawking - There's not a whole lot going on in this private lot, so you'll find parking pretty easy. That being said, right in front of the shop is a 30 minute limit parking spot. I'm not exactly sure how well they enforce it, but I'm not trying to risk it. Duh Am-bee-Anz - If you're shop teacher decided to say to hell with it I'm opening a sandwich shop, this is what it would look like. There's a pegboard with tools in the back of the shop, and the walls are lined with golf and other sports memorabilia. Soi-viss - The youngsta working the register and the sandwich line informed me that he was going to wash his hands before he even moved in the direction of the kitchen. It's not even something I would think of to ask about, or wrinkle my nose up - but he wanted to make it clear that they run a surgically clean operation. (there is a medical supply store next door? Maybe he pulls a double duty). Impressive. And as I ordered my grub, I let him know I was gonna grab a Soda (Sunkist makes CHERRY LIMEADE? OH WOW ME WANTS) and some chips, he was like, dont't worry about it, I''ll charge you at the end of the meal. Da Men-hugh - If you're looking for a full panoply of salumeria choices, you might have to drive uptown cause this ain't that kinda party. They had a number of hot subs on the menu, including a cheesesteak and a meatball sandwich (although I don't know if it was a meatball parm for my red sauce fanatics). I went with the Italian grinder. 3-4 diferent kinds of meat, including 2 kinds of ham I believe, and a 2 kinds of sausage. Lettuce, Tomato, mmm Onion, and sliced/chopped Cherry Peppers. I believe some sharp provolone snuck in there as well doused with just the right amount of vinegar, oregano, and oil. *channels inner Paisano* Mangia, Mangia, Mangia! I'd ordered the full option, and they didn't skimp on a thing. This thing could have easily fed 2 accountants! Possibly 1.61803398875 mathematicians. Chips and drink + full sandwich = 12 bucks. Gosh, to be so far from the other reviewers. Oh, well . . . I've gotten a meatball and two Philly cheesesteak hoagies here. The meatball was okay, not excellent not bad. The two cheesesteaks were not for me. I got the first one about an year ago. Given the good reviews, I thought maybe it as a fluke so I tried another -- it was the same. Both were generous and tasty, but they were stringy. Strings of something run through the meat that are like rubber bands making the meat chewy and tough. I call this stringy because I don't know what else to call it. I run into it off and on with sliced beef, but apparently it's consistent here. I won't be back. After seeing Antonini's featured on the Texas Bucket List, we decided today was the day to drive way the heck down 45 to this little mom & pop place. My husband and I have quite a sandwich favorite history from Joyce's Submarine Sandwiches in Denver to Sub n Stuff in Hutchinson, Kansas to Antone's (now Alonzo's), Blimpie's and Jersey Mike's. Antonini's was definitely worth the drive. Their Italian sandwich features a vinegary red pepper relish that adds zing. So a coworker and I wanted lunch and wanted something we hadn't had before and suggested this place. Ok,great I love new places to review! Oh yeah and new food is cool too. So we got here and yeah it's small, and yeah it's kinda dumpy but hey those are the best places right? Well, not so much here sadly. The people were super friendly and the food was ok but it just didn't have that wow factor I was hoping for, especially for the price. I mean, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. It was just a pretty good sandwich. I got the turkey and like I said, it was good but I was hoping for something that really delighted my taste buds. My coworker got the cheesesteak and liked it but he said the same thing. That it was good but he was expecting more. They do have Tastykakes though so there's an extra star for those because I love me some Tastykakes! Sandwich was da bomb, messy but yummy! It's was turkey, American cheese and all the fixings excluding the oil. The guy making the sandwich was questioning my choice of cheese since I'm assuming it's typically made with provolone. When I first asked what kind of cheese they had he answered provolone. I asked him if that was the only cheese he had. He was like well we have American. I said ok I'll take American. He shook his head in disappointment. It made me laugh, but realize he just doesn't want to make a bad sandwich. Next time I'll try the provolone. read more

Recently went to the Philly area and had an outstanding cheesesteak (shout out to Leo's Steak Shop) and thought I'd see if I could get at least close to the same flavor experience somewhere back home. I was doing some training in the area and didn't have time to pack lunch, so decided to Yelp something close and quick. And Antonini's popped up. And cheesesteaks popped up. This sandwich shop is easy to miss when you're driving down hwy 3. (Tip: the sign outside just says "SUBS", not Antonini's.) I had a craving for a meatball sub one day and a handy dandy yelp search led me here! Stopped by and picked up a meatbull sub and an italian sub to go. Verdict? The meatball sub was delicious. Craving appeased. The italian sub was just okay - a very average sandwich. I would definitely get the meatball sub again and I saw they also had a roast beef option I'd like to try. Both subs were jam packed with meat and very much so reasonably priced. Excellent bang for your buck! Good customer service - didn't have to wait long for someone to come to the register despite the place being relatively busy with the late lunch crowd. Friendly and helpful too when I asked a couple questions about the menu. Parking - this shop is in a nondescript shopping strip right off hwy 3 and has ample parking options around. read more
