I was sad to discover that Zuma has retired. She was absolutely the best thing about this business. When I called and inquired about alterations for a wedding, which is still three months away, the first and ONLY thing she was interested to know was whether or not I purchased my dress in her store. Since I did not (it is a vintage gown), I was dismissed and told that she needed to give priority to customers who bought their dresses in the store. So basically, I could either come in within the next week, or not come in at all. I suppose everybody is entitled to a business model, but this isn't the one that I would personally go with. I suppose you will get decent service if you are a high school student, and you buy your prom dress in their store, but I wouldn't count on receiving the kind of care and attention that you would have received when Zuma was there. I made an appointment to try on bridal gowns. The selection is not that great, and the person who had helped me wasn't the friendliest nor the most helpful. Out of obligation, I tried on one dress. They directed me to their Brick store which was supposed to have a bigger selection... except it was closed that day (and didn't look that great from the outside either). read more

I had an awful experience with this store. DO NOT GO THERE. The store & the owner are unprofessional, unorganized and out dated! I have a looong story, so here it goes...First, I gave all of my information including bridesmaid names, dresses styles, wedding info etc. They told me I could have my mom stop over to pick up the swatch (I live in SF now). My mom goes, and they said they had no record of me. They were rude to her about it too! I called back and they say the person I spoke to was fired; so we start over. They tell me they have the 2 dresses I chose in stock; 2 of my 8 girls go, and they only have 1 of the dresses there. Now it was back to the drawing board. The girls picked out another style, and then we find out weeks later, it was discontinued. I even called twice about this dress & its availability; I could not find it on the designer's website and a bridal shop here in SF said that meant it was most likely discontinued. They assured me, yes, yes it's available. Then I get a call, it's discontinued! Being I had 8 girls and was running out of time, I asked for them to get a list of the dresses that were not available anymore as the women told me they had a "lot of older dresses there". What happened? Another dress was chosen only to find out its discontinued!!! The women who works at the store was trying her best but apparently she was new and the store was totally unorganized! I had no faith in them getting the order right, plus was so fed up, I didn't want to give them my business. However, one of my girls had already given her deposit -- and they wouldn't refund it!!! At first they said no, then I called the owner and explained my story. She agreed. The owner then called the worker telling her she had to pay for the dress and that I blamed my whole experience on her - which wasn't true! Yes, the worker was involved but by no means did I say it "was all her fault". The owner even lied to the worker saying that I preferred the other women (who had been fired and messed up the first time!). I know all this as the worker called me all upset that she had to pay for the dress and asked why I said all those things. It was ridiculous!! It was a "she said, she said" with a retail store! I assured the worker I did not say those things they way her boss told her. As for her paying for the dress, I told her I felt bad for her as it seems like she is working for an awful women... Then I get a call from the owner - she was LISTENING IN ON THE CALL and refused to refund the money now cause I "bad mouthed her!". Unbelievable! I signed up for Yelp just to post this!!! read more

Oh where to begin?? I have wanted to write this review since I picked out my wedding dress last June (2013) but I was planning on telling you all the bad about the store despite a good seamstress. This is no longer the case. I picked out my dress last June (and got my bridesmaid dresses there). From day 1, there were issues. I asked for extra fabric from my bridesmaid dresses (offering to pay and such). They never ordered it nor did they offer any apology. Fast forward to when my bridesmaid dresses came in - they forgot to mail my maid of honor her dress (despite her paying for shipping). Then, my dress came in. Be sure that you have cash to pay for the second payment on your dress. I didn't bring the dress home for another 4 months yet paid in full for it...$800 of which was cash. They were never accomodating for fittings and the one bright spot seemed to be them having a good seamstress. I had a gown with straps (my wedding was Friday...I waited until I had the dress in my physical possession before writing a review) and I asked the seamstress if I should reinforce the straps - I was told No that it would be fine. We were unable to even have my dress picked up 2 days earlier (as it was not ready despite them having it for 10 months); our concern was the rain and a lack of water proof bag to carry it in...they laughed at us when we expressed this concern, asking if we thought there was a hurricane. We get my dress, seem pleased with the alterations and then, 10 minutes into my reception, the strap breaks. I spent an hour of my reception having it initially pinned together before I had to be sewn into it...and I am a small person. The bustle also broke. I had a $2000 dress that I could not move in. Long story short - they aren't accomodating at all. They tell you things that they never go through with and their dresses are overpriced. My wedding was amazing, Antoinette Rose (I went to both locations) was truly the only negative side to it...which is pretty sad. I wanted to warn you all so you don't make the same mistake. read more

Although we did find a couple decent dresses...the owner does not allow pictures to be taken of the dresses. This is ridiculous and something I've never heard of. How are you supposed to go back and look at the dresses? These days ALL bridal boutiques allow pictures to be taken. I would not recommend this boutique solely because of that. Personally, I had a great experience at Antoinette Rose and bought both my dress and my bridesmaid dresses here. The woman was very helpful, but not too pushy. Unlike some other big bridal shops, I was able to freely browse the dresses and try on at my leisure. With every dress I tried on, I got closer and closer to the one! When I brought my bridesmaids here, they too had the ability to browse the selection and try on as they pleased. Overall, I appreciated the "freedom" I had at this store and had a great experience. I'm so happy I chose my wedding dress from them! read more

Fantastic selection of Prom dresses ever, daughter was so thrilled and boy I am glad to get this over. No heavy sales tactics, no pressure, sales staff asked questions of desire and styles and was able to succesfully direct my daughter into a dress that looked great but did not break our budget. read more

If you like overpaying for dresses while having extremely rude and off putting customer service then this is the place to go! I wish my friend didn't already buy her dress from here because I'm sure it would have cost her $300 less somewhere that the owner doesn't act inconvenienced by her customers!!! UPDATE 10/3/11 - After leaving the wedding yesterday, I noticed red on my feet. After removing the shoes, my feet were dyed BRIGHT RED and half of the dye stayed on after a shower. Expensive, terrible work and terrible attitude. STAY AWAY. read more

I had a totally different experience. I did nto deal with the owner but with Allison. She was terrific with helping my daughter choose and try on wedding dresses. She spent over two hours wiht us and we did find two faiirly reasonably priced dresses that my daughter loved and she finally chose one of them. We had been to five other salons and all staff there were professional and nice but Antoinetes had two dresses we didn not find anywhere else. Hopefully, the reaminder of our dealings will be as positive. read more

This is what I wrote to the BBB of NJ: I wish I could put this complaint type under Collection Issue, Service Issue and Customer Service Issue. I have been greatly disrespected by the owner, Antoinette, earlier today 09/26/2012. I bought my wedding dress from this establishment, was able to have my alterations done and preservation. The problem come with the perservation portion of this sale. I dropped my dress off on December 9, 2011 and the waiting game began. I called the store a few time, between 3-4, to see if my dress was ready. I was told I would receive a call back. I never did until the end of August in which I was notified the dress would be ready by the end of September, more than 10 months past the date I dropped it off. Antoinette called me this afternoon to notify me my dress was in and that $100.00 was due at the time of pick up. I called back to dispute the charges as I have been waiting for over 10 months to get my paid in full wedding dress. I was met with a nasty attitude and horrible remarks such as "Come on, what were you going to wear it?" "I had to overnight this dress to get it back." Not 45 seconds into the conversation I was hung up on. I called back and no one answered I left a message asking her to call me back to figure the situation out. As a paying customer, who met all deadlines with more than enough time, I feel completely disrespected. Clearly, Antoinette is charging me for the overnight fees, but if the dress was sent out in December as it was suppose to I do not belive the "overnight fees" would have abeen applicable. It does not matter whether I was wearing the dress or not, the point is it is my dress. I am highly upset and will never reccommend this establishment to anyone. I am desperate to get my wedding dress back and my anniversary is on Sunday September 30th. But I refuse to pay any more money to her establishment. read more

Antoinette Rose Bridals in Belmar was so sweet and willing to take the time to prepare the dresses that I was interested in BEFORE I came in so they were ready to try along with similar styles (just in case). The woman that owns this shop should be ashamed and embarrassed! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and would encourage anyone reading this to avoid this place. Weddings are such a special time and the people at this shop are rude, unhelpful, not pleasant. On my first visit they completely ignored me for 30mins while I waited for them to show me color swatches of bridesmaids dresses. You should at least acknowledge your customers! I very recently had absolutely terrible alterations service for my Mother of the Bride dress that I bought at the Belmar Antoinette Rose store. Sarah, the young woman who runs the store, was excellent and very understanding but it seems to me that she gets very little support from the owner. The woman who was supposed to complete my alterations there did such a lousy job and i ended up having to go to the Brick store after going to the Belmar store three times with very poor results. I called the owner at the Brick store because I was told that's where she works most of the time. I left a message that I wanted to speak to her and would she please return my call. She never called me back and that to me is inexcusable if you really care about your customers. Buying bridal gowns, mother of the bride dresses, or prom dresses is very important business and I really think Antoinette Rose is in way over her head. Her service is awful and customer service is not a priority for her. I would never recommend that store to anyone. It's too bad that Sarah gets so little thanks for the great job that she does trying to keep everyone happy with so little help from the owner. This store and it's employees do not even deserve 1 star. I had an appointment to try on wedding gowns and there was one girl working who kept running downstairs to answer the phone or check if another customer had walked in. She just threw me in the dressing room alone with all the dresses and I had to fend for myself. They didn't have any veils in my desired length at that time to try on. Talk about a terrible bridal experience! They lied about how long it would take for my dress to arrive so I would hurry up and order and they said I wouldn't need my shoes to order my dress-- just so they could charge me for the hemline. Their alterations prices are ridiculous. Even though Castle Couture in Marlboro didn't have my dress in stock to try on, I still went to them to order it because Antoinette Rose was so horrible and I would never give them a single cent ! Castle Couture is a beautiful salon with friendly and educated staff who go out of their way to help you and make your bridal experience the very best. Their prices are very competitive and they don't try to scam you, like Antoinette Rose. read more

Very frustrated with this store! Went bridesmaid dress shopping here for my sister in law. She decided to go with Bill Levkoff for our BM dresses. I wore Bill Levkoff in May for a wedding and the dress store in DE that I got it from ordered me a size 8 long. When I went to Antoinette Rose in Belmar she said I was measuring a size 12. I asked for her to double check and she confirmed I was a size 12. So I was panicking when I had my fitting for the wedding in May and was wearing Bill Levkoff in a size 8. I thought for sure the dress wouldn't even zip up. I go to my fitting in DE and the dress needed to be taken in! Just a little but still, it fit just fine. I immediately called Antoinette Rose in Belmar and told them there was a mistake and the woman mis-measured me. The manager rudely told me over the phone that she has been measuring for 20+ years and she didn't make a mistake. I asked for her to then explain why the Bill Levkoff size 8 dress I just got had to be taken in and she couldn't answer that. I asked if they could order me a new size and she said no, it's too late and there is nothing they can do! Talk about customer service! So now, I have to pay and arm and leg for alterations thanks to Antoinette Rose. I do not recommend this dress store to anyone! Horrible customer service and they mis-measure you to make more money off alterations! read more

Avoid this dress shop. A horrible experience in getting my mother of the bride gown. I genuinely believed they lied to me and sold me the sample dress I tried on, as the day I took my dress home there were stains all over it. Plus, the seamstress did not know what she was doing and actually had the nerve to get rude with me when I complained of her inexcusable sewing mistakes. Long story short, I ordered a dress in January of 2012 for a June wedding. The lady that sold me the dress never measured me and guessed my size; then quit that same day (I found this out months later). Perhaps this is what explained the wild goose chase that ensued months leading up to the wedding, as I was told my dress would be in by the first two weeks of April, and as that time came and went, I was told they could not find my dress in the computer. I was then left with anxiety but consistently told not to worry. Finally they told me my dress came in 3 weeks before the wedding. When I tried the dress on for a fitting, it was double my size (reminding me of the sample dress I tried on). They assured me they could do everything I wanted to fix the cleavage due to the excessive size, so I trusted them, as I thought they were a professional wedding shop. The following week, I went in for a fitting and the seams on the sides of my dresses were sloppy and uneven. One side was an inch longer than the other. I was obviously upset by this and confused as to how a professional seamstress would see that as satisfactory work. She immediately got defensive and rude saying she was "not a magician..what was I going to do with all that extra fabric?" I read from another post that she said the same thing to another person, so she must be used to this. Either way, I was pretty baffled as to why she was defensive about a sloppy and unacceptable job. Anyone would be upset about it. She huffed and puffed when I told her I wanted a bustle in my dress too, because I guess she just didn't want to deal with me anymore. (maybe she was embarrassed because there were others in the room waiting to be fitted). So my next trip, three days before the wedding, she did fix the problems I had, and I was relieved, until I took the dress home and saw multiple stains all over my dress. I know these people saw these stains and simply ignored them, because they had to steam my dress prior to giving it to me. Two days before the wedding, I called Sarah and she said she would clean it for me. She did, but of course she did as best as she could, and didn't get all the stains out. Oh yeah, and there was a pin still in my dress stabbing me while I was in the limo on the way to the wedding. Couldn't get any worse. Sarah was a nice girl and helpful, but I just would not recommend going to this store with the seamstress currently working there. read more

RUN AWAY! The owner is sweet as pie while making the sale, but after she gets her money she will give you the cold shoulder. She even insulted me during a fitting! Not to mention I bought my dress off the rack and was still charged WAY TOO MUCH for it. My dress was no where near ready at about 1 week before my wedding. I still needed major alterations done and they weren't! In the end it worked out, but some of the tacks for the hem came out the moment I posed for my pictures (which were taken before my ceremony and reception). Also, the seamstress is very young and has little experience. She is nice, but not very forthcoming with information and help. JUST STAY AWAY! Dont do it no matter how beautiful you think the dress is. If you are a good person just looking for a beautiful dress and an honest sale, leave. If you dont care about people being rude to you and commenting rudely about your weight, by all means, take the risk. My advice? Avoid rude people during the course of planning your wedding. It ruins the entire experience. DONT GO HERE ITS NOT WORTH IT!! read more
