The staff is mostly pleasant but store over all has an unwelcoming presence . Hoping the new owner will take note. One instance In particular I was made to feel very uncomfortable When I wanted points added for my purchase. The person ringing me up acted as if I was asking for something that I wasn't entitled to. Basically Since their computers were down she acted as if I was a nuisance.

Ocean Grove has a very nice 2 block section of Main Street that has many distinctive shops. We patronized the store in Asbury and were quite happy when the store relocated (and survived Hurricane Sandy). The proprietor is a very friendly sort who seems to actually like what he does and appreciates our business. Now that we have 2 grandsons, we will be frequenting the store. The store itself is a treasure of wooden toys, dolls, puzzles and books with hardly a battery operated toy in sight. Who knew - toys that allow children to use their imagination instead of a button. They have a great selection of Playmobile toys as well as a large selection of wooden train engines (Think "Thomas"), a favorite of our oldest grandson. Prices tend to be a little higher the the big box stores but this is my kind of shopping. Take a trip to Ocean Grove (the boardwalk was destroyed but the town is intact), visit all the shops, stop at Nagle's for ice cream and then go to the Store By The Shore.

I also love checking out their book club section on the far right wall for some recs for future reading. The team that was working that day let me know that almost everyone you see in store is a volunteer & that they host lots of events over the course of the year.

Much of the items are priced in the $4 range and if you are specifically looking for something, you should probably know what they have and what they don't. They really do not have much of a variety of products. Good for toys and cell phone accessories, but be cautious with the phone ware. The store really doesn't do anything for me.
