Antiques Downtown is a solid 3, an average or slightly above average antique mall. This store has 3 floors - 1st floor, 2nd floor, and a large basement. Many of the items on the 2nd floor are craft or up-cycled type merchandise. I'd estimate that 90% of the items are antiques, 10% are non-antiques. Everything is clean, organized, and displayed nicely. They have a large variety of (mostly) quality items. This store has been around for a while. All of this is a sign of good management and owners that have their act together. I wouldn't drive across the metro to see them. But it's definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. -Daddy Maxx Retro

From handmade birdhouses to gourmet foods to throwback candy to inspirational books, this place has something for everyone! Be sure to check out their Facebook page and be informed of upcoming sales and events! They have a special Wednesday night girls night that includes a discount on all purchases. My anti-shopping husband and I went on a Sunday afternoon and I had to drag HIM out of the store! He found so many things that he wanted that he had to start a pile at the register so he didn't have to carry everything while he continued to shop! Our treasures included a pizza oven cook book, a shepherd's hook, a birdhouse, some peach bbq sauce, a handmade pen, a large picture/wall hanging, and a few caramels. We love it all and can't wait to go back! Pro tip....be sure to use the restroom so you can read about the history of this beautiful space. Sounds weird, I know, but what a lovely story abut a well-loved place! This is the PERFECT place to go if you are wanting to buy a unique and thoughtful gift for someone but have no idea what to get. Your gift will be the best one your receiver had gotten! The prices are fair. Not too high but not a discount store either. It is still a boutique. Oh...and the salespeople are just awesome! So sweet and make you feel like you are their closest friends. They wrap your goodies under with care and even offered to help carry things to our car. The whole experience was a 10/10!!!

I'm not all that knowledgeable on it but I'm sure they'd tell you about the "farm" it sits on. It's in a great location off of Bunker, near Round Lake. Parking is behind the building. Now you may think you are parking in a memory care apartment complex because you are. That's a part of this original Farmstead property. They take pride in MN. You'll find anything made by a local MN artisan here. There's a section devoted to just the MN State Fair. It may be stuffed to the brim with things, but it is organized well. Bath, body, kitchen, cabin, baby, faith, sports, fashion, treats. I usually want it all. And it's a great place to find a birthday or thank you gift. They offer gift cards and have offered basic gift-wrapping in the past (ribbon tied on the bag). They also host artisan markets to showcase some vendors. They gave me a postcard for an upcoming event, which includes food trucks. Sis and I stopped in on our way to the Downtown Anoka shops. But I found everything for my bday peeps here. No need to fight for off-street parking or the sidewalk sales crowd. Thank goodness!

Emerald Isle is one of the best antique stores in Anoka…read more This store is mostly a huge antique mall. It takes up almost the entire "Old Post Office" building on downtown Anoka - 1st floor, 2nd floor, and basement. You enter up the big exterior steps and through the antique front doors. But the actual store entrance is inside the front lobby of the old US Post Office. The number of vendors and the quality of the merchandise is impressive. There seems to be something for everyone. I'd estimate about 10% of the merchandise can be considered non-antique items like hand made crafts and reproduction stuff. I particularly like one of the vendors on the 2nd floor. He has a lot of very high quality, rare, and fairly expensive stuff from early 1900s and a few things from the late 1800s. This dude has really good taste in antiques! My daughter liked the vendor in back, on the first floor, with a lot of music, beer, and Americana related stuff. Many of his things are reproductions but he also has a few originals here & there. My wife really liked the rock & roll stuff in the basement and some of the funky shoes. The two women that own Emerald Isle are also very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed talking to them. Stop in if you're in the area. You won't regret it.

My wife and I have been in this shop a couple of times and we both like it. I'd say it's probably 3 1/2 stars. It's owned, operated, and stocked primarily by a mother & daughter along with some other family members. Since this isn't a "mall" with hundreds of independent sellers, it's better than average because they're free to sell whatever they want...not just whatever small nick-nack crap they can cram into a little rented corner. Both the mother and the daughter are very nice. They're also dog lovers. This is reflected in the larger variety of canine themed antiques you can find sprinkled throughout the store. My wife and I get a kick out of this since we love dogs too. BTW, I talked to them about the previous negative review on Yelp. They told me that they have a policy of not buying anything from people who walk-in off the street. They have this policy out of a concern about not accidentally buying stolen merchandise. So they never buy from people who just come in with something, no matter what it is or how good it looks. Anyway... Thanks for selling us some nice items and thanks for the nice conversation about dogs and antiques! -Daddy Maxx Retro
