As we were downstairs looking around, one of the ladies (short hair and striped top) came down and ducked around the corner watching us. I knew what she was doing but chose to ignore her hoping my kids wouldn't know what she was doing. We did find 3 lead soldiers and asked for help, the ladies at the counter told is they would be right with us. We stood there for about 5 or more minutes until someone finally came to help us...apparently they all needed to help one customer. We bought our items and left. My two kids pointed out in the car to me that they knew the lady in the striped top was watching us. There were plenty of other customers also shopping but she decided to follow and watch us. No thanks. This is the last time we'll ever come here. There are plenty of other antique shops around that don't do this to us. We love antique shopping. It's sad too, as we live in Elk River.

The three levels are laid out well and you are not cramped walking through there. Never an old musty smell or tons of junk. I have bought many things here over the years from old fireplace mantles, to upcycled gifts, a midcentury drink cart, Vintage Pyrex, and even Cutco knives. I love this place and every time I am up in Elk River i make sure to stop in!

It's packed with awesome antiques. John carries a lot of high end merchandise like antique gas pumps, signs, jukeboxes, neon, antique clocks, advertising, and vintage coin-op vending. I'd say his shop has a lot of appeal for male antique collectors in particular...but not exclusively. This is what my family experienced, we love thrifting and antique shopping…read more We went there today and did not have a good experience. We were followed from the main floor to the top floor. My son and my daughter wanted items and were told that the staff will hold on to it, these items were not locked up. My son bought an item and was told they will lower it to $10 but instead charged him $19. We have thrifted and antique shopped from Duluth all the way to Winona, we are local and decided to try this place for the first time and definitely the last. While you were busy following us thinking just because we are POC, we would steal, Dick and Jane over there were probably stealing. FYI, POC people like to thrift and antique shop too. I have never had this happen, this is the first time, which is just disgusting as we are locals. I'd much prefer the Antique 101 or Elk River Antique. Our POC money is just as good as a white persons. You don't have to follow us because of our skin color.

It takes up almost the entire "Old Post Office" building on downtown Anoka - 1st floor, 2nd floor, and basement. You enter up the big exterior steps and through the antique front doors. But the actual store entrance is inside the front lobby of the old US Post Office. The number of vendors and the quality of the merchandise is impressive. There seems to be something for everyone. I'd estimate about 10% of the merchandise can be considered non-antique items like hand made crafts and reproduction stuff. I particularly like one of the vendors on the 2nd floor. He has a lot of very high quality, rare, and fairly expensive stuff from early 1900s and a few things from the late 1800s. This dude has really good taste in antiques! My daughter liked the vendor in back, on the first floor, with a lot of music, beer, and Americana related stuff. Many of his things are reproductions but he also has a few originals here & there. My wife really liked the rock & roll stuff in the basement and some of the funky shoes. The two women that own Emerald Isle are also very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed talking to them. Stop in if you're in the area. You won't regret it.

My wife and I have been in this shop a couple of times and we both like it. I'd say it's probably 3 1/2 stars. It's owned, operated, and stocked primarily by a mother & daughter along with some other family members. Since this isn't a "mall" with hundreds of independent sellers, it's better than average because they're free to sell whatever they want...not just whatever small nick-nack crap they can cram into a little rented corner. Both the mother and the daughter are very nice. They're also dog lovers. This is reflected in the larger variety of canine themed antiques you can find sprinkled throughout the store. My wife and I get a kick out of this since we love dogs too. BTW, I talked to them about the previous negative review on Yelp. They told me that they have a policy of not buying anything from people who walk-in off the street. They have this policy out of a concern about not accidentally buying stolen merchandise. So they never buy from people who just come in with something, no matter what it is or how good it looks. Anyway... I attended one of their flea markets today, that's when other antique vendors set up outside the perimeter of the house with their own goods. On flea market days, the white house items are an extra 20% off ( excluding sale items). All sales are final. Very fun place to walk thru, reminded me of all those antique shops in the Stillwater area. There are so many little spaces to discover and dig thru. In one of the rooms they even have free coffee to sample! Free parking in the lot next to it, in addition to free street parking in downtown Anoka. All the staff were welcoming and smiling as we came thru.
