Spent a rainy Sunday afternoon exploring this shop. It's a large antique store with many booths that offer a good variety of items. Lots of mid-century modern furniture and decor. They also have knick knacks, jewelry, pottery, toys, art, and more. The store was quite busy with customers while I was there. It was nice to see. The staff was friendly and helpful, quickly opening glass cases when I wanted to see something. Their inventory is so large I found it difficult to see everything in one visit. Their prices are reasonable. I ended up buying some California pottery, a framed floral print, and an MCM trinket dish. I'm looking forward to returning and taking another look around the store. There is a parking lot in the back of the building. Note: Some vendors have modern items mixed in with their antiques. A quick Google image search before you buy is a good idea if you care about the age of an item. read more

If you love vintage items and spending hours exploring antique shops, I highly recommend Antiques Colony! It's a large store with an excellent selection and very organized layout. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. My partner and I visited one day, and although we spent more than planned, we found a gorgeous landscape portrait framed in a beautiful brass-gold frame that will be a cherished keepsake for years to come. read more

I don't know a lot about antiques, I'm an aging thrift shop / surplus store fan. But i really appreciate how this place and its collection of vendors is like a couple steps up in presentation and selection than just looking thru bins of Interesting junk. I appreciated how the two guys manning the shop were helping different folks up front, and seemed knowledgeable. There were a couple of things that stood out as ooooh I maybe have to have this, tho this recent trip we ended up not getting either (a mid century folding bar cart, and a Heath ashtray, if you have to know) as we're on the hunt for a very specific little gadget that we're sure is going to show up on a shelf in a shop somewhere. We'll be back! read more

I'll never forget how they took advantage of me. I had items to sell and expected them to be fair and honest. I was wrong. What they paid me was WAY below what I could have gotten anywhere else. Having dealt with other estate people since then, I realize how badly they took advantage of me. If you want to sell items to them, be sure you know their value before you see them! Lesson learned. read more

Hubby and I popped in while driving by and we loved this antique store. We both collect and the vendors there have a little bit of everything. I found my way to porcelain while he to the comic books. The prices were fair and we will certainly be coming back. read more

First of all, don't come in, saying, "What's new?" This shop is the flagship of Antique Row. To be honest, I don't think the term "Antique Row" exists. In fact, it might even be the director of "Training Day", I'm not sure, but there are four antique shops in a row. One big one, one small one, one medium one, and one that has a "Back in 15 minutes" sign permanently taped to the door. Anyway, this one is big. I'm not a huge fan, but it took me 1 hour 20 minutes to get through the whole store, which is well-organized and packed. Though to be honest, 50 of those minutes was the Playboy section. Those articles are long. Like I said, I'm not a huge fan, but I do like looking at big clunky lamps, politically incorrect Americana, lunchboxes, things with boobs, clocks, bookends, cookie jars, geographical postcards, things with ugly faces, salt and pepper shakers, three wise monkeys, things that light up, pre-1990 pop culture (especially old toys and games I may have had, 70's fast food glassware), and unique furniture pieces, especially if they have weird right angles or bartending functions. I don't like quilted stuff. I smell pee just thinking about it. read more

I called ahead before making the hour-long drive to this store to sell some high-value antique items. I was told there were no restrictions on what they accept, but when I arrived, I was informed they only buy certain items. It felt like a complete waste of time. On top of that, the few items they were interested in, they only offered me pennies for. Customer service was lacking -- I was repeatedly made to wait while they prioritized helping other customers. read more

The staff is super helpful and are great at answering questions. A customer was looking for something very specific and they put him in contact with another local antiques store who would likely have the item. Plenty of space to live around without feeling like you'll knock something over. Wide variety of vintage and collective items. Their retro furniture is amazing and everything is in great condition. I definitely recommend. read more

I had never been here before and I used to go to college not far from here years ago. So when I finally got the chance to look around here for an hour I was excited to see what they had. Now I am not against paying more money for something unique and stylish or hard to find but the things here are hardly that. I had gone to an estate sale earlier and much of the same things I found there for dollars were upwards in the hundreds here. The big ticket items like furniture are overpriced considering they probably get theirs from estate sales which can be bundled and half if not a quarter of what they charge here. The clothes and shoes here were a miss I would not get them skip and pass. The smaller Knick knacks were also expensive, things I could find for cheaper on eBay and mercari were triple the price here. That being said I thought their crystal selection was great and very fairly priced if not cheap for the selection. I will definitely check it out again if I can. The jewelry seemed fairly priced and unique I'd have to check again and ask about individual pieces because they were pretty. The older man in the Hawaiian shirt who was at the cash register when I paid was very nice, the women who worked here, if they did, were not and ignored me. Will check this place again and avoid those ladies. read more

Literally so obsessed with this place. I heard about it after a random google search and decided to stop by for a bit. We were thinking it would be a quick look and then dip to enjoy the rest of our day. HOWEVER, I was in here for almost 3-4 hours yall! My man literally left to the house and then came back to pick me up because I refused to leave lol. I wanted to buy everything in there! My new obsession is collecting unique purses and man did I score! Honestly if I hadn't just paid all my bills I would've dropped a lot of money here lol. For all my antique loving people, be prepared to spend at LEAST 2 hours in here looking at everything. I was legit getting dizzy because my eyes could not focus on one thing. I was trying to take it in all at once lol. It's a must visit! read more

I love thrift shops but not ones that carry an air of "polite racism", as one yelp reviewer coins. I came in with my Hawaiian bag that can hold a lot of stuff, including my water bottle, my cough drops, keys, phone, and my tiny bottle of antibacterial gel (for places like this). Like my two Caucasian friends, I was in my own little world looking at all these knickknacks. Once we moved into different aisles, my experience as a customer changed. At the back of the store, I was looking at things in windows, and I know I had my hands in my pockets as I looked. I finally decided to dig in my big bag for my antibacterial gel, and then I heard footsteps right behind me. The footsteps continued to follow me while I slowly looked at more artifacts and while I had my hand in my big bag, feeling for my antibacterial gel. I knew this was the sales associate who was helping a couple earlier around the corner from my friends and I. I slowly turned the corner into a main hallway, still at the back of the store when I finally found my antibacterial gel. I brought it out slowly and started using it. The footsteps still maintained their pace behind me until I turned another corner. The footsteps decided to go to the front of the store at that point. My friends were pretty oblivious to what happened. They both walked away with gems and saying praises about this place. read more

So much fun stuff. Lots within budget, but, alas not all. Nevermind, it's still worth a long look-see at Colony. The shop is spacious and filled with various vendors' goodies. I also really appreciated that Colony sells a solid selection of furniture-related cleaning products. Our haul included a Lane hope chest in fairly good nick, an old globe (an Xmas gift to my bro) & some old SF resto match books. If I had more space in my apartment, I would have probably tried to buy more treasures. It's sort of good I don't need anything. Well, it's good for the pocketbook. Among Colony's sortiment are: mid-century furniture pieces, pyrex bowls, Danish cookware, vintage jewelry, lamps of all description, stained glass windows, wall art, shelving units, fun kitchen gadgets from yesteryear and more! read more

I have mixed feelings about this store. I bought two nice Heywood Wakefield pieces from this store. The transactions were conducted over the phone and my husband picked them up. The transactions went smoothly and the customer service was great. However, not to long after, I personally visited the store to browse and was quickly followed and asked by an elderly woman if I would place any items I was interested on the counter while I did more browsing. Meanwhile there were other people walking around carrying items while they browsed. I noticed there was a difference between them and me, I'm a POC. My husband who is not a POC quickly realized what was happening and said we should leave. It was quite humiliating. Please do better. read more

The people here are amazing :) I was looking for a glass mini hen on a nest, and before I knew it, the staff (and a customer!) started searching for one throughout the store. While we didn't find the one I was looking for, there were so many neat finds and I decided on these two amazing items. Would highly recommend coming by. You can easily spend hours here, browsing their wide selection of high quality antiques. read more

This is another fun store to stroll through! The mid century furniture is worth it alone! The employees/stall owners are helpful and kind. There is literally something for everyone here, from carnival glass, furniture, sterling silver sets, clothing and more! racist old ladies. would not even look at me when I walked up to the counter, although they made sure to greet every white customer who walked in. especially deplorable considering the amount of overpriced asian antiques they sell. on the other hand, Burbank Antiques next door was a great experience! Upon entering the store, I was immediately asked to put my bag in the front, as I walked through I noticed no one else had been asked to do the same as everyone had backpacks with them. I even asked the other customers if they were asked to put their belongings and got all no's. I seen a pair of heels I liked and began walking with them throughout the store and sure enough, the same man who asked about my belongings again came up to me and asked if he could put my heels in the front. I ended up buying the heels after being told I could have them 20% off because they were stained and being sold at a higher price than online and I was charged pretty much the same price upon looking at my bank statements. On top of being very overpriced, I get a bit of very polite racism coming from this place. I don't recommend anyone of color to go here unless you want a very alienating experience. The owners are older white men so I assume they come from that time when it was more appropriate to do so. On a positive note, the owner of Memory Lane Antiques next door was super polite and eager to engage in conversation as well. read more

8/16.2017 I am very sad after many years of being a customer to learn buyer be ware. If you purchase an item you are responsible to authenticate it's quality and value. After I purchased a 30th anniversary ring, what I was told was a Platinum ring with 1.6 baguets, see pictures. About a month after purchase my wife informed me the ring changed color due common use and wear. We took the ring to get to another location to be cleaned and checked and was informed it was copper not Platinum, see readings. The owner at Antinques Colony stated it can't be our ring. Will keep everyone informed on this journey of dispute. read more

One of my most favorite places in San Jose. Excellent selection, good curation, reasonable prices that are somewhat flexible. Wonderful place to peruse on a Saturday afternoon. "Portobello Road, Portobello Road Street where the riches of ages are stowed. Anything and everything a chap can unload Is sold off the barrow in Portobello road. You'll find what you want in the Portobello road." Anyone who gets that song reference get's extra points. Also an apt description of Antiques Colony. I could literally spend days in that place! And thousands upon thousands of dollars. If I ever decide to go on a shopping spree... it will be here or a place just like it. So many different vendors ( means a lot of different pricing). That's the only qualm I have with the place. Some consigners are much more reasonable then others. But you can truly find such a huge and wide variety... it's just remarkable. I got an old Folgers Coffee Tin, a couple of old advertisements, and an antique pressed glass drawer pull. A very very fun visit. I just explored and explored. The women who worked there were so nice! They tried to help me find some boy scout memorabilia. One found an old Boy Scout manual, unfortunately- it was one that I already had. I have like 5 out of around 90.. so of course that would happen to me. In any event - if you're in San Jose and love antiques- you must make your way to this store. Hey! Even if you don't, you'll become inspired, you must come to this store. read more

Very welcoming and warm employees. Really good jewelry selections. My favorite antique store.

If you have a lot of time to browse at antiques, this is the place to start. There's tons of antique stuff here at Antiques Colony. You can easily spend hours here just looking through all the glass display cases and reminisce the past. Don't miss an aisle! Some of the vendors have items on sale in their spaces! Many of them are very organized and have their postcards, magazines, etc. categorized. I really like that! It helped me speed my time to finding exactly what I was looking for! They're open Mon-Sat 10am-6pm and Sun 11am-5pm! www.antiquescolony.com I heard that the antique business has been very slow, especially on San Carlos Street! :( Help them out and buy more stuff there!! read more

Unless you want to be racially profiled don't come in here. Came a couple weeks ago and immediately entering the store- I already had someone follow and spy on me down every isle I walked. The store assigns several employees to walk around and act like "customers" though it is 100% clear they are employees. God forbid you're holding a purse, because in that case they will also either make you hand it over to the cashier or force you to exit the store bc they're so paranoid you'll take something. Go to Burbank or Brianwood Antiques next door instead- owners are super sweet! read more

This is a true antique and vintage store, not one of those stores loaded with 'collectibles' and new merchandise. It has everything from fine jewelry, precious cut to jade, to mid-century furniture to American, European, and Asian antiques. A collection of fabulous antique mall filled with everything and anything and more! Photos, dishes, linens, framed art, jewelry, knock knacks and so much more. The prices seemed appropriate for high quality things, at least in my area of interest. Though you can get a low prices if you negotiate. read more

Great place - they seem pretty selective about what they let in, and careful about placing items thematically, which is great as you can avoid wasting time wading through knick-knacks and junk if you are there for the bigger and/or bigger ticket items. I've bought a couple hundred bucks worth of things from them, and I've been incredibly happy with everything I've gotten, and got an especially good deal on a large piece of Thai woodcarving. Be aware that if you want to haggle, you'll not get far with the front desk. Don't expect to be able to get the price down much unless you're lucky enough that the item's consigner is around. read more

This is the most rude store employees I hsve ever encountered they're prices are way too high and I purchased a beautiful sterling ring with a orange stone couple days ago paid a good amount for it and this morning stone fell out on the floor so I called them to see if I could return this or at least exchange it and I was rudely told to look at my receipt at bottom it states no refunds all sales final this is ridiculous I could understand if it were my fault but it was not at all and I'm never going to step foot in this store ever again very rude employees and this is just pathetic customer service And I would not recommend others shop here especially for jewelry and of you are not wearing Versace forget about getting respect or assistance in this store they will ignore you and follow you all around the store thinking you are going to steal something news flash what your wearing doesn't mean you don't mean you have no money to spend read more

I was looking at the jewelry and had a woman open several cases for me. I picked out several pieces including one piece from the lady who helped me (Carol?). (It's a co-op with many different sellers.) I said, "I guess I've taken up enough of your time," and she said "Yep!" RUDE. Also, if you're looking for things to resell, don't bother. Most things are overpriced here. read more

I've been to hundreds of antique stores over the years and this collection of dealers is one of the most interesting and varied styles I;ve come across. The prices vary from expensive to bargain depending on the dealer. On this occasion, both dealers I bought from were willing to negotiate a discount. The staff were helpful, pleasant and practicing safe social distancing and cleanliness. It was fun to look thru the mid century stuff and I will be back soon to continue my search. Not a fun experience. Cashier rude and unfriendly. He has graying hair slicked back. He thinks it is high end dealer. Store is boring. I only went back because one of the vendor was super nice. How do you get customers if you continue to be that way... read more

The stars are for the merchandise, not really for the store. I prefer knick-knacky stuff to furniture and they have plenty of both. The staff is hit and miss. Sometimes they're happy to help you but often they're like elderly teenagers just hanging out chatting and act bothered to open a case or even ring a purchase. The pricing isn't *unfair* but it's not great. I've never tried to haggle for anything like I do at Briarwood (LOVE) next door because the staff is too intimidating to ask. The thing that bugs me is that they don't mind taking you on a ride if you don't know what you're buying. I once shelled out $90 here for 1960's Playboys because I had no idea they're practically free on Craig's List. $10 each? Thanks for taking me for a chump, Colony. I'll be back though :/ read more

This review is strictly for Craig at Antique's Colony. I have yet to visit the store. I want to give Craig a High 5 (or 5 stars.) He spent a lot of his time with me on the phone on two separate occasions, answering questions and pointing me in the right direction on how to get started selling my late mother's antiques. I do not know a lot about auction houses, estate sales, consignments or how to go about private party sales. Craig graciously made suggestions and guided me on the "how-tos" of auction houses. I'm not a big fan of antiques. I am much more of a minimalist, but Craig's conversation actually piqued my interest in it. I am beginning to appreciate this "old junk." Who knows? Maybe I will actually get into selling this stuff (and buying) for a fun hobby. And a shout out to Joe, who answered the phone today. Very pleasant and easy to talk to. I might have to stop by for a visit. read more

I love antique stores!!! I ended up finding out that owners place the things they want to sell here and price however they want it. This is one of the better antique shops on San Carlos. It's really large and everything is set up sort of in categories. I wish they would keep all the clothing in one section though. They have a lot of fur but I feel like the price is the same as if you'd buy it at a retailer for new. They have this super old radio that is set to an oldies station. I couldn't believe it still worked. If you want to bargain, the workers call the owner to set up a deal. Definitely a fun place to check out. read more
