Came in a couple weeks ago with a friend for dinner. We stopped in around 6 on a Thursday and were seated right away. The parking is a little rough, but they do have some spots out back and street parking as well. We were greeted quickly by our kind and attentive waiter. He quickly brought us water along with complimentary chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were tasty and fresh! They have a great food and drink menu. We didn't get any appetizers, but they all sounded fabulous. I got two tacos - one birria and one shrimp. My friend got the tortilla soup and the elote corn. The tacos were amazing! The Friday night vibe in this place is lively, with diners at every table and lined along the bar, chatting noisily. The service was friendly and quick. Chips and house-made salsa were delivered to the table almost instantly. The chips were hot, crispy and fresh, and the salsa tasted great, with just the right amount of spiciness. The house margarita was OK, but was so sour and bitter that it was hard to drink. It got bussed before I could finish it. We started with the Esquites, which was a very credible rendition of the popular Mexican street food. It was just the right combination of sweet corn kernels, creaminess, tartness from the lime, and spiciness. We'd definitely get it again. We also got the Papas Bravas, described as potato wedges, beef, queso, nacho, jalapeños. They were kind of like Tex-Mex disco fries. I found them gross, but my wife liked them well enough. She got the taco plate, with the brisket tacos, charro beans and rice, and liked everything she got. I got the steak quesadilla, served with black beans and a little bit of guacamole, which was in desperate need of seasoning. The black beans were way too dry, with the texture of spackle. The quesadilla was great, though. The steak was sliced thickly, but still tender, and tasted deeply of being grilled over fire. It was also piled high inside the quesadilla, which had a nice amount of queso Chihuahua within, a proper Mexican cheese. It's too bad the accompaniments weren't any good. We finished with the delicious apple fritter, which was served hot, alongside a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. I was super excited to try this place but it really missed the mark for my husband and I. I love the vibes and aesthetic inside though and our server was incredibly friendly! We came for lunch and had the guacamole, street corn, and Taquitos. The street corn was definitely the best thing that we had and I would get this again. I saw online that the guacamole was chopped up style instead of a creamy guacamole so I was prepared for that however, it tasted more like a very bland pico de gallo and had little avocado in it. We also got the Taquitos but they were also bland and the meat inside was very dry and had a strange consistency. Not sure if we caught them on a bad day. read more

This was a neat place located in downtown Chamblee. They have an amazing outdoor seating and the restaurant is quite small. One of my favorite things with this place is the drinks. They're so good and worth the price! They serve complimentary chips and salsa - I love me some salsa and theirs is delicious with a kick! For dinner, I got the gubernador tacos plate that comes with 2 tacos on a blue corn tortilla with rice and beans. The tacos itself was sweet as the shrimp came with caramelized onions but it was topped with melted chihuahua cheese so it balanced out. The flavor was meh in my opinion as I didn't particularly like how greasy everything was with the caramelized onions and cheese combined, plus the shrimp was too tough for me. It's a cool spot for drinks and I would go back to try more of their food items. Can't wait to go back to Chamblee as this part of town has really changed and there are so many more places to eat and drink! read more

First experience here was very underwhelming. Ordered the chicken mole. Mole was bland and chicken was overcooked and tough to the point of being like jerky. The chips that came with the meal were too thick for my taste and unsalted, so they would have been as bland as the rest of the meal, if not for the salsa. Good but not great. The guacamole was diced, not mashed. It tasted good, but there seemed to be as much queso fresco as avocado. My enchiladas were pretty bland, so if I got back, I definitely won't bother with those. Maybe I should have tried some of the tacos. My husband says his steak was "mediocre, at best." The good thing is that this place seems built around tequila and mezcal, so anything I (or anyone else) says on Yelp isn't going to hurt the business, because people love to drink and will accept mediocre food as long as the drinks are stiff. I had a hibiscus margarita made with mezcal and it was better than any of the food. I'll give them another chance, because menus always evolve. read more

I have been waiting for this New Mexican restaurant to open in my neighborhood...and it did not disappoint. There are an assortment of seating options including plenty of room at the bar and booths for families. I had the house margarita and then a delicious concoction with hibiscus flower. Chips and salsa arrive at the table no charge which is a nice surprise these days. I enjoyed the enchiladas verde and they were excellent. The rice on the side was delicious, but I was not a big fan of the refried black beans. My waitress Chivonne was very attentive and prompt. Birria is delicious, came with all the fixins for someone craving a juicy taco, it was a little oily but overall hit the spot. The burrito on the other hand was not as good. This place has good food and good drinks! Plus tv's to show the popular sports games. The service is a bit spotty at the bar, maybe I should try sitting at a table to see if there is a difference. Only thing is, it's usually crowded on weekends so the bar is your best bet. I usually get the chicken enchiladas verdes which are SOOO good. Everything comes out piping hot so no cold food over here. The margaritas are crafted very nicely and compliment the meals well. Did I mention the comp. chips and salsa? Yummy! Normally, I am pleased with the experience here, except for today. We waited for one hour for a table. We had 12 people and were told there was a 30-minute wait. However, we waited over an hour. A large group of people arrived and were given a table immediately. When we confronted the host about why they were seated before us, he couldn't give a satisfactory explanation. He then lied, claiming they had made a reservation on Sunday, which we later discovered was not true. Honestly, we felt discriminated against. They allowed white patrons to walk right in and gave them a table while we, as Latinos, had to wait an extremely long time, which ultimately resulted in us leaving for Los Bravos Restaurant. It really made us feel as we are not the same social economic class; therefore, we left. read more

The Adobado tacos are usually my go to. Very good taste. Decided to try the steak tacos. Super disappointed. Totally bland with no charring or seasoning of the flank steak. The steak pieces were way too large for a taco too. The venue has been consistently way too loud with their background music. Was in yesterday early evening and unfortunately very disappointing experience. I am one who does not like to leave a bad review but this is solely for the owners in hopes to turn this place around. I had not been to Antiguo since they opened and at that time the food was so good. Yesterday it took 15 min for someone to get our drink order after the time we sat down ( we were one in three tables at the time) the chips and salsa were the only good thing we had during our visit. My chicken bowl was disgusting. The beans were like still either frozen or just very cold, the rice on my dish and my friend's dish cold, the chicken had zero flavor and also.... Cold and chewy. My friend's chicken tacos... cold no flavor one was even missing the crema that the other one had ( they were the same tacos ) it's just very disappointing I hope they can get it together. read more

Service was excellente but the food was el trashe..lol. The best part of the meal was the orange fanta. Bought a steak nacho and didn't expect much..but damn. This was even worse than expected. Like how do you mess up such a simple dish and make it...blehhh... steak was so burnt it was bitter. Even a blind man can see that. This is a great neighborhood Mexican spot! We came early on a Wednesday night and were seated right away. Our waitress was AWESOME and was super quick to bring us salsa and waters and our drinks once we ordered. The house margarita is good but the El Melvin is amazing! I was worried it would be too sweet but it was a perfect balance of sweet and smoky. I also love that they have tajin for the rim as well! We ordered both types of enchiladas and they were delicious. We are never ones to linger and hang out after we eat, so I appreciated our waitress who was super attentive and checked in with us when we were done eating and we were about to ask for our check. We just ordered take out since it's always busy on Friday evenings. I ordered a steak quesadilla, steak burrito, and chicken verde enchiladas. Our order also came with chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were on point and probably the best thing we had. Steak burrito was very good as well. The steak quesadilla was okay but our least favorite was the chicken verde enchiladas. Although the chicken was well seasoned, we just didn't like the taste. Some of the dishes came with a refried black bean side and the flavor was also not good. Great new spot in Old Town Chamblee. They have a wonderful ambience about the entire place, a fully stocked bar and full menu. The service was great, the food was delicious and the drinks we on point. They tend to get crowded later in the day so plan ahead, but the wait is definitely worth it. Awesome authentic Mexican food! Nice staff and great vibes. Cocktails are a big hit or miss but overall great local spot!

We have been waiting for this place to open as another option to our other favorites in downtown Chamblee, but we were very underwhelmed and disappointed. We'll stick to the other Mexican options we like just around the corner- Pure, Taqueria del Sol, Los Bravos. There are only 4 drink options (tequila and mezcal cocktails) and 3 beer choices, which they were out of one of them when we went. The drinks were bland and overall not great. The "guacamole" is just sliced avocados with way too many onions in the pico and too big chunks of queso fresco. The steak on the nachos tasted like Philly cheesesteak steak. Fine flavor, not a great cut of meat. The birria tacos were apparently really good. The queso fundido with chorizo was about average. Since it has just recently open, We will give it another chance in a few months with the same high expectations and excitement for the new add to Chamblee. read more

I thought the food was delicious and tasted like real food! The drinks are great too... if you like the smokey mezcal tequila and Tajin (instead of salt or sugar coated rims)... this is the place. Service and atmosphere were great. However, the food doesn't come close to the other Mexican restaurants nearby that come in at a much better price point. My fish tacos were over cooked and our guac was only 15% avocado for some reason. All in all, it was an ok place for light drinks with a date but not a place I would go to regularly. read more
