From reading reviews I was excited to try this spot, but was immediately disappointed and underwhelmed because of the poor operations of the place. WE WAITED OVER 60 MINUTES while other parties who we didn't see in front of us grabbed their pizzas. The loud music and atmosphere made it impossible to hear people's names. While waiting for our pizza one of my party members went to ask when we should expect our order but they were treated with a rude and abrupt response. I decided to go up and chat with the staff and they said they LOST our order. They immediately got one of our pizzas but then we waited another 10-15 min for the final pizza. I've been to many pizza places that are as loud and busy as this one and they need to get a better system in place for people to know when their orders are ready. Instead of calling people's names out they should have a number screen available where people can see if their order is ready. That would help eliminate all the confusion with staff yelling out names that may or may not be mispronounced. We weren't the only party who experienced this wait too, I saw at least two other groups go and chat with the staff letting them know they were waiting and they were able to receive their orders because of that. Likely will not recommend this place to friends and family unless they get their systems improved. read more

After not hearing my name called, 35-40 minutes from placing the order, I asked about my pizza. 10 minutes later, they let me know that my pizza had been left boxed 'on the rack' and that no one called my name to say it was ready. 2-3 other customers were complaining about similar issues/extended waits . Delicious. That is the end of this review. Just kidding. But it pretty much sums it up. The restaurant is cute inside. Kind of reminds me of a high school lunch room. There are long tables and benches where you can sit. I think if it gets busy, you might need to share your table with somebody. I think these tables can sit maybe 6 to 7 people comfortably. Drink coolers are off to side, choose your drinks. They do offer a small selection of beer and wine. They haven't array of soft drinks and sparkling water. Now let's get to the meat and potatoes of this review. The pizza... amazing. We ordered the Margarita pizza with extra cheese. They were not skimpy on the cheese. Ingredients were fresh. The other highlight of this pizza... the crust. To die for!! Very chewy and soft, with the perfect amount of slight char on the bottom. YUM!! They have condiments on the side for those who need: parmesan, salt, pepper, oregano, hot pepper flakes, etc. You'll also see a prepackaged orange looking oil. Don't miss out, give it a try. When my wife told me that Antico was a good pizza spot in Atlanta, I wanted to try it out. I've had pizza in NY, good pizza in Knoxville (hard to believe, but it wasn't bad), and other places around the world. So Antico was put up to the test. We ordered the diavola pizza, and all I have to say on the size is that one pizza was more than enough. The pizza comes with peppers, spicy sopressata, and bufala. The spice level is pretty high for this pizza, so keep that in mind. What I did love about Antico was that they had unlimited garlic along with other sides where you can just refill. That was different compared to other pizza shops. The seating at this Antico is more family style, and basically wherever you can find a spot that's open it's free to sit at. I think it can foster some random conversations, but from what I saw it was basically just separated by where you sat at the table. Make sure to keep your ears open, because they'll yell out your order number and you have to just self identify yourself. I think this could be improved, maybe have a number display to show when the pizza is ready? I don't know, I guess they like yell the numbers out. Overall, this pizza is big. If you want a definite take out, order 2. If you just want one good extra meal after you should just order one. Antico's pizza is solid, I wouldn't say it was the best pizza that I've ever had. It was a little bit too saucy so most of the toppings sort of fell off. I'm sure this won't be the last time I eat Antico and will be on my revisiting list. read more

Drove up to Avalon from Buckhead today and decided to eat at Antico. We were all craving good pizza. We walked in and were a little confused about what to do: sit down, or order, then sit down, etc. The place was empty, yet two employees watched us turn in confused circles without asking us if they could help. They just sat and stared at us. We finally realized that we had to order at the counter. One of the employees, Tyler (whose name my sister took note of due to his very rude service), who had watched us without help as we walked in, walked behind the counter to take our order. He literally just stood there and stared at us. No "hello," or "how can I help?" Not even a "what can I get for you?" Just silent stares. We asked him if we could order and he grunted agreement. We ordered two of our three pizzas well done. I specifically said "super crispy, borderline burnt." Tyler finished taking our order with very little personality or welcome and we paid, then sat down after being asked to tip on the payment system. My sister said her finger hovered over the 0% for quite some time before she felt guilty and tipped anyway. For what we are not sure. Of course when our name was called our pizza was not well done. Wow.... if you're competing to find seating you know the place is poppin. Hands down the best pizza place I've been to. The open kitchen environment provides a unique dinning experience that is both fun and enjoyable especially for those who may not be from around here. We brought our three grandmas visiting from South Korea who are normally not pizza lovers. They were skeptical to try but after the first bite, no more convincing was necessary as they dove in for another piece. The San Gennnaro was perfectly simple yet flavorful while the Verdura was the perfect combo between white sauce and vegetables. SERVICE WAS THE BEST!!! The food may be good but if the service is not to par it can definitely disappoint the dining experience. The manager explained every type of pizza so we knew exactly what to order for the grandmas and he was very patient with us as we chose our drinks. I've eaten here one time before, but this is my first review. This is a little piece of heaven that makes me feel like I'm dining in Italy. The pizzas are completely unique. They serve their pizzas on a large metal sheet. They use just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The ingredients taste fresh and flavorful. If you save room after eating pizza, make sure and try their gelato for dessert. They have a number of traditional flavors with Italian names. I tried the salted caramel gelato, and it was amazing. As you come in there are very long tables with benches to sit family style... and little beyond that there is a front counter where you place your order and pay. Food then is delivered to your table. Pizza here has a good flavor but it could be a bit more crispy. Crust almost feels soggy, but toppings are fresh and pizzas are a good size. Prices are a bit on the high side for a pizza place where you stand at a counter and order fast food style. There are better places. read more

Place doesn't take reservations but they have an area called "reserved" that sits empty while people lord over you while you eat. Can we sit there - "no, it is reserved" was the reply. So instead we stand there with a tray of pizza in our hand waiting. Raining outside so you can't make use of the outside seating. I guess shame on us for coming when the weather is bad but to have 1/4 of the place reserved for no one seems a bit ridiculous. When you get up people are so desperate to get your seat that they practically slide under the small gap between your butt and the chair. If that's how you like to dine, go for it. We've always loved Antico but believe it's a pizza best eaten in the restaurant so haven't been in the past 2 years - boo covid! We were up in Milton and decided to stop by Avalon and grab pizza on a Sunday evening around 6pm. Parking was easy in the garage and we quickly made our way over to Antico. While crowded inside, it seemed most people were waiting so we walked right up to order. We ordered a margherita, w capricciosa, a side salad, meatballs, and delicious Chianti. Lucky for us, a group vacated a table so we quickly found a spot to sit at a communal table. We loved the condiment bar, getting plenty of parm and peppers for our meal. We did wait a bit for pizza, long enough for my daughter to finish her milk and for us to finish our cups of wine. But the food was worth the wait! I started with the salad which was simple but so delicious. Fresh lettuce blend with perfectly shaved Parmesan strips and a fantastic homemade herb dressing. The small was plenty to split between two hungry adults. The meatballs came as an order of 2 and with a great side of Rosemary focaccia. My daughter loved the meatball and happily ate it alongside her slice of margherita. The Pizza was as yum as I remember - great crust, fantastic flavor, fresh toppings. It's easily my favorite pizza in Atlanta. I just wish I lived closer so I could patron Antico locations more often!!! read more

I brought some out of town relatives here to try out some foo foo pizza....I'm more of a traditional cheese and pepperoni type...but I keep an open mind and be willing to try out new stuff... The place has a farmer's market feel to it with picnic tables and open floor plan. The folks here are friendlier than many of the other vendors in the Avalon. We ended up getting the Sophia which consists of Bufala, cipollini onion, roasted mushrooms and white truffle oil for $27.00. I wasn't sure about getting pizza with no sauce on it but to my surprise it was pretty darn good. Great pizza place in Avalon. Probably best quality pizza you can find in the area? Got the Margherita pizza with mushrooms. They burnt it a bit, but it was still delicious. Usually can't have more than 2 slices of pizza, but ate half of the whole pie. You order at the counter then find a seat, and a staff will bring you the pizza and clean it up afterwards. They should think of a better system of bringing the pizza to the customers though; yelling out the order numbers isn't really efficient nor pleasing for the customers. read more

I've been here and the West Midtown location a couple times, and we usually get the Margarita pizza. This time we added in pepperoni, which was soooo good. The flavor of the pizza and the chewiness and char of the crust is amazing, but I always find the texture of the pizza to be so soggy. It falls apart while you eat it. I feel like you can get better pizza for the price around the area. I'd recommend coming here if you have a pizza craving in the Avalon and don't feel like leaving the area.
