I popped into this Anthropologie on the weekend while roaming lakeshore. Similar to other reviews, it's definitely a window shopping kind of store for me. I compare it to browsing a book store because there is so much to look at here. Clothes, accessories, housewares, books and stationary. I personally love the style of clothing at this store. It's certainly on the pricier side however if you make your way to the top floor and head to the back they have a pretty extensive sale section. If you are like me and like a good deal, they have tons to choose from. I like the design and layout of this store, it's big enough that we could social distance while browsing. In terms of staff, it was difficult to figure out who was working and who was shopping. I didn't need assistance but if I did I wouldn't be sure where to turn. I noticed this time visiting there was no one manning the door to count capacities, but I know they have staffed for this in the past. Overall if you're in the area and want to browse funky clothes and housewares, go ahead and try Anthropologie. read more

Im not sure how Anthropologie does it but they seem to score a lot of gorgeous historical buildings in high traffic spots to set their stores. This particular location is quite large for a suburban downtown and has that heritage feel. Love how it's an old re purposed bank. For those who love festivals, bohemian lifestyle or style, or just looking like you fit in with other native Californians, this would be your store. Everything here is carefully curated and presented to give you that desire to look and be inspired by the beautiful tropics. Like the website, the store has that refined luxury vacation vibe... it also needs the price tag that goes with it. I have to give credit to Anthropologie... though they do follow trends, they are not limited or hop onto every single new instragram trend. They do stick to the same image of the carefree glam girl. I also feel that they dont quite take their store sizing to petites like me. Their normal dress length makes me feel like a kid... I think you'd need to be at least 5'7" to be making these long flowy dresses and skirt work. For the clothing itself, I found most of designs simple and basic but their prints and colour scheme is what keeps them unique. Vivid and bold, all of them stand out ... especially against the millennial dusty pink trend of late. When I was there, it was bold sienna, rusts, splashes of turquoise, or saffrons. If you want to be carefree and yet catching looks... good spot. I will say their white fabrics... sheer. So if you want to buy a white dress, you'll probably need to get an extra lining. The other thing about Anthropologie, the price point is notably higher than what you'd see in a mall. Simple short dresses start at $120 and the nicer ones are above $250. How carefree is a $250 free flowing dress? ... probably not what I was expecting. They also carry a lot of interesting skincare and house ware to keep you browsing for a while. I saw some nice brands like Farmacia, and Tocca. I would have been extremely impressed if they had RMS or lanolips are those are harder to find in Toronto. For Oakville, this was a step up seeing how there isnt a Sephora nearby. As for service... I didnt really see anyone except the lone person behind the counter. On a Sunday afternoon, it was quite empty ... store and service. No one was there to greet anyone or help people find sizes. Though to be fair, I've never been in an Anthropologie with a proactive service staff. Usually you have to hunt someone down or find someone in the change area to help you. Oakville seems like the right demographics for this spot ... maybe if there is a sale, it might be more reasonable for some to afford a cute low key dress but for now, I'll just continue browsing. read more

Let's keep it real here, neither myself nor anyone I personally know actually *buys* clothing from this store 'cause it's kinda cha-ching! Anthropologie is a lesson in how merchandising can drive sales. If you take away the displays and shoegazery music, and just slap these clothes on a rack, I don't think they can justify their price tags. Most, if not all, of their clothes are nice looking, eclectic, somewhat hippie-ish, but still made in China. When I do walk into Anthropologie, it's just to be inspired, look at styles that I may not necessarily find at the mall, get ideas for home décor, & smell some candles/perfume. I appreciate how their items are merchandised, but not enough to blow 2 weeks worth in grocery money on 1 dress! beautiful looking store. boho to frumpy , with a few current pieces but those on the pricer side. Went to return an item that I was told I could return that I purchased over the phone .The policy always changes so I made sure prior to purchasing that full refund was applicable. I Went directly in store and the manager said '' its sales final'', pause, so immediately I reacted and said I was assured by 3 sales staff I could return it. I believe in retrospect she was going to return the item, but needed to power-trip ,and look like a hero . Since I didnt give her the opportunity to play her game, it took way too long to get my refund as she stood holding my reciept for ransom playing this nonsense game. I did get my refund , but this was The worst customer service Ive ever had! I will never shop there again. read more

Cool stuff if you like monogrammed gift ideas and boho plates, towels, etc. Good 40-50% off sales occasionally but otherwise pricy merch. Nice women's clothing which I would feel comfortable buying as a gift for my wife but only because I know her style and size. Always nice to come in for a look. I have been a customer of Anthropologie for over 15 years. I would pick up items while in the States. I'm delighted to be able to drive to the Oakville store. I love the feel of the space, an old bank! The clothes are unique, if somewhat overpriced. I have had difficully finding anything quite like the inventory at Anthropologie anyway else, so for me, it's worth it. I do have favourite brands, Pilcro and Charlie pants and Bordeaux and Left of Center tops, always winners for me! I'm happy to be able to return on line orders now. def not Canadian consumer friendly. you buy off their website and its all American, in US dollars with a duty and tax bill when getting the goods. try giving them back! you wont get your duty and taxes back, just the what the items cost, unless you spend more money and ship them back to the USA, though we have Canadian stores, they plead 'sorry cant do anything for you up here in canada'. who wants to support a retailer who doesn't support you? lets stay Canadian and show these americans how we stand together. yorkdale already closed, doesn't that say something?? styles, fits and fabrics are always cheap with bad fits. stay away unless you want to through your money out. stay Canadian!! read more

Anthropologie has beautifully tailored clothes for casual wear, that make casual looking clothes something unique and special. The cost of the clothes is exorbitant however I was lucky to find a very cute jacket on sale last year that is totally unique and "wowed" everyone. You pay for the exemplary tailoring and uniqueness of style that will set you apart. The sales people are friendly and take care of their customers fairly well. I'm writing this review on behalf of my wife, who has set foot in this store once and will likely never return. After picking out a couple of clearance items in the back, my wife was treated to an experience with the sales associate cashier like no other. Both items she selected rang up on the till at full price, and the sales associate basically sneered "the sale price tag is not right" on these and proceeded to start trying to prise the sale stickers off, implying my wife had somehow changed them. Unless the manager stepped in (perhaps she at least recognized the items were clearance), my wife would not have bothered completing the purchase then and there. read more

My daughter and I have been frequent customers at Anthropologie for several years. Unfortunately a recent experience proved that this company's customer service is seriously flawed. We had travelled from another city expressly to shop for a festive dress for my daughter's upcoming Christmas party. As our time was limited, we headed directly to Anthropologie. She was pleased to find a dress she had seen on their website and within a few minutes she was assured there was a dress in her size in another city and it would be shipped directly to her home. She was to leave her name and phone number and the other store would call her for mailing information. Assuming the sale was confirmed, we then set off for a few hours' shopping, but we became concerned when the call did not come from the other store. We returned to the Anthropologie store to inform them of our concern, and after consulting the salespeople we had originally dealt with, they informed us that their staff had not called the other store immediately, the dress in the other city had been sold, it was the last one in the country in that size, and that we were out of luck. They had my daughter's phone number and they did not even have the decency to call her to tell her of the problem. When a retail company makes a serious error, as this was, they need to make some gesture of compensation by means of a discount or gift certificate. A verbal apology just doesn't cut it. Let this be a lesson for all shoppers: If a store tells you an item is to be shipped to you from another store, do not leave the store until you personally witness the call to the other store, and insist upon giving the mailing information yourself in order to assure the order has been placed. I hope this will help others to avoid the disappointment and frustration we experienced with this company. read more
