Outta The Park! We were delighted with the 3-Course Meals To Go we ordered from Anthony's. The Seasonal Salads were so fresh, and just delicious! Steak and Prawns for the main meal were perfectly executed. The steak unbelievably tender and flavorful, the prawns scrumptious, and the portions were generous. Well prepared fresh vegetables- YUM! Anthony's sourdough upon request? Yes, please. Desserts- mousse and cheesecake- were exquisite, and the right size. The food was superb, as we have come to expect from a meal at Anthony's. What really impressed us is that, despite a 30-minute drive to get our meals back home, they arrived in perfect, restaurant condition. We received 2 bags when we picked up our dinners. The salads and desserts were cold, packed in one bag, and the hot meals and bread packaged in a separate bag. Thank You, Anthony's, for making our celebratory meal something special! We moved back to Olympia from Minneapolis in March of this year. We just got around to visiting Anthony's again last night on Saturday Nov 11. The first two restaurants we tried had at least a 30 minute wait so we were glad to see that Anthony's had a virtually vacant parking lot. It wasn't busy at all (only a few tables were filled at 8 pm) so we were sat right away. It took a while for someone to greet us at our table though. Mixed drinks from the bar that we ordered were undrinkable. We had to send two of them back after one sip. My Margarita was watered down and tasted like a sweet mixer with virtually no alcohol at all. The rim was not salted properly (only 1/3rd of it had salt). The mojito had no flavor and tasted like water. My husband's Bloody Mary came separated and not mixed well, not to mention was way watered down as well too. Shrimp tempura (dinner size portion) was decent. The slaw that came with it was way too vinegary and gingery for me (it made my face pucker). Measly portion of veggies came with the shrimp (three asparagus and two onion rings). The presentation of the plate was depressing. In the past this dish had large portion of food but this time it was more reasonable. Hawaiian Poke nachos were good except they came with too much sauce. I like my homemade version of Ahi poke better (maybe because of the sauce difference in mine). My husband couldn't imagine that Anthony's charges $4 for one raw oyster when he can get them from his work for a little under $1. That it is a big markup. Waitress rarely came by our table even though the restaurant was virtually empty. We liked her though - she was nice and took the drinks that we didn't drink off our bill and she seemed knowledgeable about the menu. So, the hubby and I had a long week and decided to celebrate with a nice dinner. We decided on Anthony's. We have eaten here in the past. It was just past 4:30 on a Friday. We checked in and they said it would be 5 minutes or so, well, it was like 30 seconds and they had us seated in a booth over looking the water. We each ordered a whisky sour. Very, very good and I tried not to hug the waiter when he set it down in front of me. Did I say it had been a long work week? Anyways, we started with a calamari appetizer. It was just ok. Maybe a 2 because it was under cooked and not much flavor. I know I said I do not eat a lot of red meat, but, I think for the first time this year we both had steak and shrimp scampi. It came with mashed potatoes, and green beans with corn on top. Literally, the most tender, delicious steak I have ever had. Perfectly seasoned. I ate maybe 1/2 but in our case my hubby cleans up after me and finished his and mine. The shrimp was grilled with a really.good flavor. The potatoes were, well mashed potatoes. Not much flavor. I am not a potato girl so there is that. Veggies were good. Sour dough bread on the side with butter. We both enjoyed it very much. For dessert the hubby ordered huckleberry cheesecake. I had a tiny bite, it was so good. Waiter and wait staff were wonderful. Will we eat here again? Probably. read more

I used to be an Anthony's fan. In recent years ( even pre Covid) it has gone downhill. Thought we'd try again. Service was horrible on all levels. They served me rotten crab- so strong an ammonia smell that the entire table could smell it. The manager was nonplussed...overall terrible. read more

We had a great Sunday afternoon experience! We sat at the bar and had an awesome experience. The bartender so soooooo friendly and accommodating. Apparently, post-brunch is a bit sketchy on what is and isn't served. The bartender gave us menus and assured us we could order at will. The roasted pear martini... YUM! Holy sugar rush! The Caesar ordered by my friend was not as well received. But easily addressed! The food was great... Two bleu cheese salads, the Hawaiian Nachos and the mussels... I've been visiting my parents in Oly for 17 years and this is their favorite restaurant so I've been here a lot but never written a review. My impression, over the years, is that the food is consistently good. Not overly creative but just good, fresh homemade food. Is it pricey? Yes, definitely. But the view is killer. The overall atmosphere and service is too old-school for my taste but our service tonight prompted this 5-star review. Everyone in our party of 11 enjoyed their food also. We had 8 adults, 4 kids. One person in my party had provided us with free appetizer coupons which is not normally my thing however there was extensive discussion and fussing over the happy hour menu, the coupons etc. and the young lady who was waiting on us was very patient and not a single bit of attitude. She agreed up front to split our check (five ways!) and got it all right. She took our drink and food orders in random order as folks were ready or not ready (like I said, lots of fussing from all of us, lol) and kept everyone happy by being at the table frequently. Refilling waters, getting more drinks... Bringing out some of the salads early but some not, as requested. You get the picture. We were a complex, demanding and probably annoying group and she handled it with a smile... Even knowing our bills would be reduced by those silly coupons. I know she was tipped well by my hubby... Hopefully the rest of the group, too because she deserved it. We will undoubtedly see you next time we're in town, Anthony's! read more

Hmm.. where do I start. It was a crappy birthday dinner and I am kind of pissed. I was super fortunate to be my family that I loved to spend time with. I should have stayed home and eaten popcorn and watched a movie. I decided on Anthony's for diner because I was excited when I saw the Ahi Stack and Citrus Fennel scallops (which I didn't get to try) on the menu. I have been to Anthony's more times than I can count over the last 2 decades and I thought I could count on a decent meal. Today was awful. My son's noddles were burnt all the way through, the salmon "dip" (which should be called a dollop of salmon spread) was bland and tiny, the Caesar salad was mediocre (it used to be flavorful and my favorite Caesar salad in town), the Ahi Budd Stack was the blandest item on the menu it had zero flavor. Our order kept getting messed up and we had to send back 2 items before getting the stack we originally ordered. I wasted 1.5 hours of my time and my family's time and went home basically hungry without a birthday dinner. Thank you Anthony's for providing one of my worst birthday dinner experiences to date. I have had more than one fabulous birthday dinner at this very location, not in the recent past. Maybe you don't provide the same quality that you used to. I would not recommend this restaurant unless they can step up their game and make some serious changes. read more

Clean restaurant Food was good (not impressing but still good) I went there with one of my friends so of course we eat slow busy with chatting but I could see server was rushing us to leave. I understand if we are sitting there for like 2 hours and if there are a lot of people waiting but restaurant wasn't packed and we were still eating . We weren't even there for two hours ... she comes to us so often to see if she can take our plates away when we are still eating and we still had food on our plates. before we even ask her for our check, she came by and she asked us if we need any boxes to go too. My husband and I were having a great meal at Anthony's celebrating our anniversary, until we found out that the strawberry lemonade I ordered and was drinking was a "spiked lemonade." A huge mistake on the part of our server considering I'm 21 weeks pregnant, and visibly so. But as I told the manager who told me "it wasn't up to their servers to discern who is pregnant," it's beside the point...I ordered a lemonade which is listed on their non-alcoholic menu, and was given alcohol without my consent. There's nothing that can be done do "undo" what happened, and this review can't change what happened. Rather than continuing to enjoy a nice anniversary dinner and night, I ended the dinner calling the consulting nurse in the parking lot to discuss the possible risks to my unborn baby. read more

I'm not a big seafood fan as I don't eat 'insects of the sea' like crab and lobsters nor 'liver of the sea' animals like shellfish that eat the waste of the ocean, but some good white fish is tolerable at times - my wife is a seafood fan so we make a point of going here every time we visit the area because I love my wife. :) One ding right off the bat is for the fine print at the bottom of the menu that reads 'Bread available upon request'. Really? The bread is a good sourdough, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside - too bad the butter served is ice cold right out of the fridge - you can almost see the steam rising from the bread when you chop a chunk of butter off the portion served on the little plate, and put it on to melt (There is no smearing it on as it is as hard as ice-cold butter can be). Why in the world would it be 'upon request' other than to keep costs down? Low class element for such a nice restaurant. This visit was for lunch and we did ask for bread about 10 minutes after we had ordered, and it was delivered within 5 minutes of that. When lunch arrived about 1/2 way through the bread, my wife had what I referred to tongue in cheek as a drunk Codfish - Menus said something about Alaskan cod ($15.95) cooked in white wine - and I had the fish and chips ($15.95) as that's about as much sea food I want to see, food. Of course you go here to be seated along the glass wall overlooking the marina and waterfront and the fact they serve good food is almost a bonus, and we've never been disappointed - 3 stars is a fair rating, the setting, the staff, the food all combine for the rating. Not outstanding, but consistent and what they serve is good if not great. My wife's "True Cod Sour & Dill" was good not great she said, but she didn't care for the chutney flavored rice that came with it - would rather have had a savory rice as that would have been a better choice for such a lightly sauced fish. The fruitiness just didn't compliment the fish. I started with a very average salad with Thousand Island dressing ($6.95) that had dressing on it under the layers of lettuce and served with a small serving of additional dressing. Note to self for next time; mix up the salad first to see what they gave you before automatically pouring the side-portion of dressing on the salad - with that it was swimming in dressing and I was glad for the bread which distracted me from the soupy at this point, salad. I had the basic fish and chips - if you don't like sea food there isn't an appetizer without it, not a soup without it, so you're left with salad and burgers. Or maybe, burgers and a salad if you want to mix it up a bit. I've had fish and chips from Larg, Scotland to London, to Ogunquit and Portland, Maine, to Captain D's and Long John Silver's to Anthony's, and this was on par with any of those - tough to mess up. I do think my newspaper wrapped fish and chips in Larg was 2 steps up from the plated food at Anthony's - bigger portion, lighter batter, better overall flavor - but for American fish and chips with the requisite heavy batter, this was...average. The 3 planks were a mere 1.5 inches at the wide end narrowing to .5 inch at the other end. Heavily battered and done to the color of burnt toast, though not actually burned - just heavier batter than I've had in other parts of the world. The taste was not fishy in the least, and the tartar sauce served in the little clear cup was standard fare you'd see at Long John Silver's, and the fries were basic as well. Any other setting might charge $9 rather than a nickel shy of $16...but you do pay for the ambience. So...we will return when my wife wants to, and/or we are with a larger group as the staff is great, setting very nice once you get around the logging port to the round-about (1st right and you're in the parking lot). We both had water to drink so the bill was $42 and change for the 2 lunches and the salad and tax...the waitress was excellent, intuitive, pleasant and worth the 20% tip I gave her. If you want to go to lunch in an informal to business casual setting on the water with someone who loves seafood, you can't go wrong here. If however, you like seafood and your dining companion doesn't and isn't in the mood for a basic hamburger in a fancy setting, search Yelp for a restaurant the evenly balances sea food and non-seafood. We'll be back at some point, nice setting for a couple or quiet family meal, and consistent in every way. read more

I replied with "yes, aren't they great, tonight is their last night", and she disappeared like a rocket. This place ROCKS.......I had to go down to Olympia to see some family that were in the area for the day and we had lunch here. The server was great, she helped me figure out the best grub to eat because this was my first time here. Guess what? The food was AMAZING. NO, really it was amazing. Even the oyster sorbet for desert. They have a gluten free menu and a full bar. To top it off if you drink a lot they even have TV's above the urinals in the bathroom. I think I love this place. Great service, they let us stay and visit forever and made sure we had everything we needed. I wish all restaurants were this awesome. Great job guys. read more

We have lived here in the Olympia/Tumwater area for 15 years now and after going to this restaurant since 1996, I have to say they have slid down that slippery slope of complacency, either that or everyone in this area enjoys bland food. For such an upscale fish house their quality control is mediocre at best. It's loud in there with the kitchen staff yelling and breaking glasses and flatware every five minutes or so it's very annoying! I have emailed them several times but the GM Scott Desota just gives you some excuse as to why it was not up to par and a gift card to come back. Well Christmas Eve this year was our final visit! Almost $100 for unseasoned food that wasn't even good enough to be a dogs dinner! It's unfortunate how much decline this place has gone through, all the air ducts are covered with dust and spider webs and the wait staff are too busy playing grab ass to get anything done! Maybe it's just me but nobody moves with a purpose or sense of urgency anymore! Our food came out with a skin on the fettuccine sauce mind you on a $30 Dungeness Crab fettuccine oh and I got one little piece no larger than my thumb as the "Dungeness Crab"! I asked our waitress if this was a joke, she said they're supposed to put 4 oz of crab meat in that, I asked does that look like 4 ounces? She replied no way! Needless to say save your money and go to the Seattle Crab Pot for a lot more fresh Crab and not as expensive i.e. Anthony's 12 ounces King Crab $55 with steamed vegetables, Crab Pot 24 ounces of King Crab with potatoes and corn seasoned $48!!! Really delicious food, quiet restaurant, tons of seating, great service. Definitely an older oriented restaurant, most of the people in here are retired and there are not a lot of kids. This is where we go sometimes for our anniversary when we want to enjoy a nice long four course meal thanks to the sunset dinners. They used to have good food, but their standards have gotten worse and worse. The portions are small, but expensive. My husband has left hungry more than once. He used to love their fish and chips. You used to get large pieces of fish, but now some are the size of chicken nuggets. The coleslaw is sour and vinegary too, just awful. What a lovely experience! I was visiting Olympia and was treated to dinner at Anthony's. The restaurant has spectacular views of the port and a welcoming atmosphere. Copper River salmon was in and it did not disappoint! We enjoyed seasonal cocktails with our appetizers and a wonderful glass of wine with dinner on the recommendation of our server, Noah. The timing and presentation was spot-on and we especially appreciated Noah taking the time to chat with us about some things to do in the area. A Truly awful experience itemized: (1) party of 7 was set for only 6. Repeated requests had to be made to get menus, dinnerware, glasses etc.. (2) had to request bread for the table multiple times. (3) When dinnerware was finally brought to the table, waiter tossed onto middle of table. (4) entrees brought immediately after appetizers (5) one member of the party never received their entree (?), even after several requests. And the entree was a salad !‍ (6) Had to request water glass refill, then waiter topped off a lemonade with water (?) (7) after complaining of the never received entree, manager apologized for poor service, then never returned. Waited on a check that never arrived only to track the manager down again to find out the restaurant waived the charges. Appreciated the gesture but would have been nice to not to wait an additional 30 minutes to find that out (?). On the plus side, those who did receive their meal felt the food was very good. SUMMARY: keep the back of the house and retool the front. Wait staff is far too raw & inexperienced to justify the prices. read more

Visiting Olympia from Seattle for a birthday gathering for a friend. Nicely greeted at the door was seated at a nice table with a beautiful view of the marina. We did let the the host know that we had a friend coming and gave his name and described him. He was seated at the wrong table for about 20 minutes. The server was friendly but seemed a bit flustered and over seated. Our drinks were served out of order. We all ordered the sunset specials, again the server forgot who ordered what and I was the left out of the mix because I was given something I didn't order. Who ever who was helping her serve was in such a hurry it was very uncomfortable to be bombarded with plates that weren't even ours. After about 8 minutes I received my order. It was pan fried oysters the same thing ordered by the birthday girl. These oysters were breaded and fried, my guests were over cooked. The oysters did not taste fresh.:( That night she got very sick with food poisoning, my stomach was upset but not food poison upset. I felt so bad that my friend got food poisoning on her birthday:(. This restaurant was highly recommended and rightfully so. Sits right on the pier and boasts ceiling to floor Windows from wall to wall offering every seat a view of the beautiful scenery. Their service was outstanding and prices are hard to beat with steak and lobster tail for less than $30. Amazing tasting seafood and clam chowder. Locally brewed draft available and they all are excellent. Folks here take pride in their brew and I wish I could take some back home! read more

Anthony's answer to Happy Hour Specials: No Staff! My wife and I cam here for Happy Hour. We sat down at the bar and the server said they would be right back. Well, they never came back. We saw a couple hostesses and servers on their cell phones, but nobody wanted to help us out. Sooooo.... off to Budd Bay Café for Happy Hour (which is a very good happy hour). I have been to Anthony's before and the food was good and the service was fine. But, this was just unacceptable. A restaurant shouldn't advertise Happy Hour and then not staff the bar for Happy Hour. Could have been an isolated incident, but I will likely not be back to confirm. read more
