To me, vintage Vespas and Lambrettas are works of art that also double as transportation. And sometimes, it takes an artist to bring one back to life. Anthony Armstrong is such a man --- a Michelangelo with a wrench, if you will. There are very few mechanics in Dallas --- or Texas --- that have Anthony's level of experience when it comes to restoring Italian motor scooters. Engine rebuilds are Anthony's specialty, especially when it comes to the two-stroke motor found in the Lambretta. He's passionate about them and it shows in his work. He's also meticulous, doesn't take short cuts, and he'll return your engine cleaner than anything that regularly consumes gas and oil has a right to be. Anthony will explain what he's doing, take pictures during the process for your review, and will send you an itemized bill of his work (I haven't complained about his prices yet.) Depending on how sick your scooter is, Anthony will occasionally make house calls to diagnose the problem. However, if it's a weird electrical problem or if your motor is on the verge of potential failure, you'll have to haul your bike to Anthony's garage for surgery. The best thing about Anthony is he stands by his work. He cares about his reputation and if something isn't right with your bike after it's spent some time in his garage, Anthony will make it right. One word of warning: Anthony does not work on new scooters --- new meaning any scooter that doesn't shift manually. There are plenty of places in Dallas to get a new scooter serviced. But if you've got a 1957 Lambretta LD --- a complicated bike that no motorcycle mechanic in his right mind would touch --- Anthony is your guy. read more

This is a unemployed 50 year old shade tree mechanic that still lives at home with his mom. Her garage is his shop. He has no money and you will need to pay him upfront and buy your own parts. He does not pay taxes like other people in business but charges close to the same. Very elementary procedures as he does not check the invoice for the parts you will have to buy. He just slams what ever he gets into the bike and call it a day. He will try to find other small things wrong with your scooter so he can charge you extra money to fix. The warranty he offers is not a warranty and just words from his mouth and nothing on paper. People seem to like his shiny parts as he cleans everything so the outside looks better then how the inside should perform. Only a few people in the vintage community go to him as he's burned so many bridges no one really trust him. read more
