I was so thrilled to find out there was a newly remodeled gym at the beginning of the semester!!!…read moreThe wellness center is in an old basketball gym separated into two floors. The school did an excellent job with the remodel. It is very convenient to the law school. I appreciate the stress outlet. The first floors is made-up of a mix of cardio machines and weights, but predominately weights. All of the free weights are on the first floor. My colleague and I prefer to work-out on the second floor where most of the treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and weight balls are located. The gym keeps the music up-beat and relatively loud, which helps when working out. There are also flat screens hanging between the first and second floors. The gym provides antibacterial wipes for the machines and the staff constantly wipe down the machines with cloths. I have seen professional maintenance workers in the wellness center--there is rarely a broken machine. I am just thrilled to have a gym on-campus, but there are some cons. These cons are non-issues in my book because the convenience and availability of the wellness center trumps all of the concerns for me. Cons: -The elliptical machines are not the best quality in the World. -Large gym classes come into the workout area for class exercise making it crowded at times, but it never lasts long. -You cannot bring any bags into the wellness center. -The locker room is inconvenient to the wellness center. Once again, I am so grateful for the NCCU Wellness Center. Law School is extremely stressful and this was a much needed addition not only for physical health, but mental health as well.

I wish there was a value add, such as a tour offered since it was my first time or even a brief description of the gym setup. The indoor track was nice. There are a variety of strength training equipment located throughout the gym space and not just in one area. I liked how things were spaced out with the opportunity to even be away from crowds. All the machines seemed well kept up and the space was clean. Once upstairs near the cardio machines I couldn't find the towel booth and honestly there wasn't anyone available to ask. The staff here seem pretty hands-off and extremely involved in socializing with each other, I guess this is the norm.

My 7 year old daughter has attended several events at Warrior Tech. Mostly, the evening kids…read moreclasses, but she has also been a drop in for a day at camp, and she went to a birthday party of a friend she met through Warrior Tech. In all three instances, I would give this facility a 5/5 review. What I appreciate most is how much the instructors (aka techs, aka trainers) care and the values they are emphasizing. Obviously they are looking to promote healthy habits through diet and exercise. But more than that, I am seeing them instill values of good sportsmanship and teamwork. Seeing my daughter cheer on the kids in her class and then seeing the other kids rooting her on....I just love it. And when I see one child helping another do a skill or obstacle, working together.... I have no words. Competition is not a bad thing. It definitely has its place, but the ability to work as a team is a far more valuable skill and one that may not come as naturally as competitiveness. The techs are passionate about what they are doing and seem genuinely proud when a child gets a little further up the warped wall then they did last time they tried. Or when a child has better form on pushups than he/she did the prior class. I love seeing the pride and confidence my daughter emits when she figures out a new skill and I feel that same pride and genuine positivity from the instructors as well. She has spent a good bit of time at Warrior Tech, but never gets bored. The instructors are so creative in setting up new obstacles, exercises, and games. I will say they can be strict...but only when it comes to safety and never without good reason. This is, obviously, not a bad thing. When these obstacles are potentially dangerous, I want safety emphasized and I'm grateful for a reasonable amount discipline in the pursuit of a safe environment. If my child were doing something that increases risk of injury (to her or someone else), I would rather her receive a few stern words than a broken bone. As far as the birthday party we attended, it was a great time. So much so, that I booked my daughter's party at Warrior Tech as well. If you have really young ones, I don't know that I would recommend Warrior Tech. I would say at least age 5 on up to adulthood. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having my birthday party here and from what I understand, they have hosted parties for adults! The kids were completely engaged in the activities during the party. Again, you felt the teamwork and camaraderie as the kids ran through the obstacle race with their friends chanting their name. The vibes here are just great! Positive energy. Enthusiastic and encouraging employees. Overall, a great place to work out and have some fun for both kids and adults.

He tells me that the instructors were fantastic. He's 12 and typically enjoys obstacle courses, so this camp was right up his alley. If your kid has no interest in playing on workout equipment and completing obstacles all day, please don't sign them up for the camp. It makes it less fun for the others who are there to get better at their skills. But, if your kid loves running, climbing, and all things ninja warrior, then this is definitely the right place!

All the while, being surrounded by amazing people doing the same thing. I meet new gym friends every class. This is that place you've been looking for, to get your body moving.

Once she got in the water she felt nervous and one of the deck supervisors got in the pool along with her teacher so allow her to have some one on one time. You would think this was only because it was her first lesson but no, it happened again recently where she was having a hard time and again another couch jumped right in and gave her the extra attention she needed. All the coach's are super sweet, kind, and very patient!!! We have loved all the ones we have had! The teachers we have had so far are Lillian, (she teachers my daughters private lessons) Ruthie and Ashlyn and my 4 year old loves them all!! The coaches are always so patient and understand with him, it's wonderful to see! We've had a ton of wonderful coaches over the years Molly, Madison, Quinton, Shelby, Jay, and now we have coach Leila. My son loves coach Leila and she really tries her best to teach him as much as a four year old in a pool actually listens. My son has truly started to learn how to swim thanks to Aqua Tots. Courage Fitness was my first experience with CrossFit and like many people I was a bit nervous…read more about it, having heard about how intense the CrossFit community can be. Let me assure you that Courage Fitness is an extremely welcoming and supportive place to be, no matter whether you're just starting your fitness journey or are in fighting shape already. The coaches do a marvelous job of accommodating different levels of fitness and modifications for any injuries. I'm not sure how they're running things during Covid (I moved in July and had to end my membership) but previously they had two major categories of classes, the "Hustle" class which is a good starting point and is an intense "boot camp" style class, all body weights/dumbells/kettle bells. There's also the classic "CrossFit" style class scheme, with weightlifting and all that. If you've never done any weightlifting, don't worry, they'll set you up with a personal trainer (included in the starting package) who will coach you on basic form for all the requisite exercises and the coaches do a great job of helping coach you on your form during workouts. It's also a fantastic community. My first few workouts I had a hard time at points because the trainers had me laughing so hard. Yes, it a touch on the expensive side relative to a basic gym membership, but you're getting a planned set of workouts and a high level of personal attention.

I have been going here since October 2022 and I already feel an overwhelming sense of community. The programming here is somewhat like a crossfit gym but I find it even better! I have been doing crossfit for 3 years now and I honestly think CFD's programming has pushed me further than those 3 years did. They focus on a lot of strength with good form instead of "just go as heavy as you can" like in CF gyms. I also feel like the workouts are NOT a competition like at crossfit gyms. Most programming is not "for time", it is just about moving well for a preset time or amount of sets. The demographic at this gym ranges from young to older as well as beginners to experts in fitness. CFD welcomes all walks of life! The coaches help you adjust all exercises to meet your level of fitness. Something special about this gym is that they really take the time to get to know you and your movement style. When you start here they complete a fitness assessment which basically looks at your mobility and balance in strength between your left/right and upper/lower body. It is a very helpful tool to help identify strengths and deficits for each individual. I highly recommend joining this gym. It's in a great location and the staff are incomparable. There is nothing negative to say about Courage Fitness!
