Great park! My son played some pick basketball with some kids and took a minute to swing on the swing set!

So I used to be a student at NC State and I cannot believe that I never checked this place out when…read moreI was in school. I lived off campus, so I always went home straight after my classes and omg when I found out about Carmichael's classes and facilities, I was like "Man, I was missing out the whole time!!". Couple of my friends started going to the gym and they dragged my ass one day and that's how I found about Carmichael's classes. I get bored super quick if I have to workout by myself, but I can take classes over and over as long as there are some people around me. My favorite classes are body pump and cardio dance. Becca and Jenna are my fav teachers and all of teachers are really nice. They motivate you throughout the entire class and I'm telling you, these classes? phew! a great workout! You may think that meh, school classes.. but I think classes that they offer here are the best & most fun classes I've taken in the Triangle by far. Reasonable price for member, lots of classes you can take and I love their facilities(omg you should see their treadmills! you can watch Netflix, do your SNS, watch TV, and so much more!!!). Also, they offer lots of fun events every Friday called Happy Hour! If you have a family member who goes to NCSU, I def recommend you to try them out!

I would love to give this gym 5 stars but the outdated building is what keeps me from doing so. I…read morehave been a student at NC State for 4 years and I love this place! The workers are friendly and helpful, and the facility has a lot to offer. The aquatics center in particular is fantastic, the depth of the pool at it's deepest is 11 ft, and at the shallowest is 4 ft. For members there are times during the week and on the weekend for "kids swim" so that all members of the family can join! The basketball courts were recently redone this past year (2014) so that NC State's team could practice there for a few months, so they are really fantastic to play on. All and all I have had a great experience with this gym, it is very popular among students and almost never too crowded to break a good sweat. Definitely check it out! Even if you're not a member I believe the price for a day-pass is $10 which is pretty reasonable!

This has become my go-to running spot while in NC for work…read more The entrance into the park is gated and is typically not open during the early hours that I arrive so I park in the lot just outside the gate, which has a quick easy access to the Neuse River Greenway Trail (left) and Crabtree Creek Greenway Trail (right). What I love is you get two very different running paths. The Neuse River Greenway is flat and pretty open. The Crabtree Creek Greenway has some minor elevation but some really cool bridges to go over (including a winding one). The park, itself, has its own running paths. There are bathrooms, water fountains, picnic areas and a big playground. Lots of covered space. From the outside parking lot, you'll hike over the bridge over the freeway into the park (about .20 miles). The bathrooms have a coded door lock that I haven't figured out yet. There is some type of house within the park as well, and I'm not sure what it's about. If you want to find the first really cool bridge, you'll go past the house and keep staying straight on the trail and not veering left or right. Also, the area between the house and the bathrooms yields some pretty cool breezes. I've noticed that temps get cooler from the adjacent field when running through there. There are mile markers on the Crabtree Creek Greenway Trail. You'll hit your first hill at about 1.15 miles from the parking lot outside the gate. Perfect place for long runs, interval workouts or bike rides. Very scenic!

Definitely a great spot if you live close. You can literally run or bike for miles in either direction so it's perfect if you're training for a race.
