My family has been seeing Dr. Perri for years for basic dermatological issues. Prior to my recent appointment, I called to confirm that Dr. Perri performs cystic excisions. The scheduling staff told me that Dr. Perri does, provided there is enough time during the office visit. If there is not enough time, the scheduling staff told me that another appointment might need to be scheduled with Dr. Perri for the procedure, but they couldn't make that call until I was examined. Upon arriving in Dr. Perri's examination room, I was asked what brought me to the office by a nurse to which I replied, "a cyst removal". I was then asked If I wanted a skin check while I was here and I said, "might as well." When Dr. Perri came in and examined me and I told him I was ready to have the cyst removed, he very quickly dismissed me saying, yes, it needs removing; you're going to have to see a surgeon. We don't do that here. When I expressed surprise and frustration and told him what his scheduling staff relayed to me, he basically called me a liar and said he nor his staff would ever have communicated that. Dr. Perri and his staff were rude, dismissive, rushed and showed no interest in me as a patient. Total visit time less than 5 minutes. I was still charged for an office visit and given a card for a plastic surgeon. Needless to say, I was unhappy and called later in the day to speak to Dr. Perri. I was told he was not available so I left my call-back number. A staff member did call and told me what I was told would never happen, She attempted at an apology, but her statements were all justified by saying the staff would have never given that information (basically telling me it was my fault.) My questions still remain: 1) If staff knew their office didn't perform cystic excisions, why would they have scheduled an appointment for me when I called to make an appointment for a cystic excision? 2) Why would I drive 30 minutes to Conroe and pay a co-pay for a procedure I supposedly knew couldn't happen? 3) Why, when I checked in and told the nurse the reason for my visit, was I allowed to check in and see Dr Perri? I can assure you every phone call and interaction prior to Dr. Perri entering the examination room, led me to believe he treated cysts and performed cyst removals. I understand misinformation took place somewhere, but I know it wasn't one-sided and expressed my desire to salvage a long-standing relationship with a clinic I have used for years. I have been available and have requested twice to speak with Dr. Perri, but he has felt it unnecessary to return my call and actually hear what I am saying. Dr. Perri needs to communicate with his staff about what he does and he needs to be in-the-moment with his patients and not dismiss them so quickly and arrogantly. He's a coward in my book and must not care for his patients. I choose to forgive him of the terrible treatment I was given and for basically stealing from me and my insurance company.
