I love coming here for pet supplies- they have a huge selection of dog food and toys. The gift section is VERY cute - great place to find a last minute gift for someone! Customer service at this location is horrific. Went to exchange propane tanks. They (tried) to get me to take recertification tanks that are good for 5 years versus 12. And for the 4 gallons, they charged 8 dollars a gallon. Higher than anybody else, and on top of it the clerk was annoyed that I was looking for a better tank. He was "busy" and "didn't have time" very rude. This type of behavior is typical. Not impressed. read more

Jokes on you... you go to the hardware store looking for hardware but all you can see/buy is home decor.. but not the thing you go to a hardware store for. The men helping on the floor are super helpful and genuinely bend over backwards to help you find what your looking for.. but it seems whoever stocks the store is more interested in owning a home "boutique" of sorts! You can't walk 10 feet without being approached by a service member. I recognize that they're simply doing their job and being service oriented but its overboard here. I appreciate Home Depot because I get to wander the aisles without being grilled every millisecond. I want to shop in peace and if I need help, I'll ask. I visited Ace yesterday and the same guy asked me if I needed help 4 times in 30 minutes. I hurried my purchase and left. Manager: LET PEOPLE SHOP! The longer I'm in the shop, the more I buy. Tell your associates to back off, please. Aside from that, their variety of goods is good and the prices, albeit high, are generally competitive. if i could go to zero i would. called multiple stores looking for item told ace anthem had it. called aace anthem before driving an hour to confirm they had what was looking for was told yes we do and yes we can set it aside. elated (short lived) arrive after driving through traffic to bs. no item, manager stating policy of no holds oh and i don't know how the other stores said we have it as they can't look at my inventory. two hours of my life can't get back as now returning home with nothing. called to avoid this and they can't get their act together. manager offers zero, oh i can order if for you sir i could have done that at my local ace and saved my whole afternoon. fact that multiple aces participated in this farce just makes it clear... i should have just stuck with ordering through amazon... I frequented this store often. Not only for my personal projects but was my go-to for my business needs. This isn't the first time I have felt as though I needed something something a little extra and they give nothing. A normally stocked item they carry and verry little quantity to fulfill my needs. They don't help. They absolutely do not go out of their way to get items for customers they normally stock. On this day alone I spent upwards of $300. I am going to shop elsewhere. Tired of feeling like I inconvenience these people when I ask to step up and get the stuff in I request. Its not a special order. Its normally stocked items. I'm putting an end to it and looking elsewhere to get what I need as of today. If you hire lazy a-holes to run your business, then pay the price. Wake up. Manager/owner himself is very rude. Asked for guidance on where an item is located and said "can it wait? I can other people in the back?" Couldn't even ask what it was that I needed and point a finger, give an idle number. Please don't make your guests/customers feel like a burden. My husband and I shop at this store a lot and try to give them business over Home Depot because they are local. Today we were moving furniture and painting our daughter's room and of course ran out of paint toward the end. My husband went to the Anthem Ace Hardware at 6:44pm, 16 minutes before they close. He was turned away by the store manager who said "Sorry we shut off our paint mixing 20 minutes before closing." Really? They must make so much money that they can turn away business! I purchased two filtrate 3m filters awhile back. 20x30x1. The did not fit. I returned one and was given a refund. Thinking the other would fit I kept it. Well it didn't fit either. Like a 1/3 inch off. So back to ACE. They informed me they couldn't find the purchase. However, they were able to find the refund I received on the first one. I explained I purchased them at the same time. I was told they couldn't find it under my name or rewards numbers. ODD!!! Therefore no refund and didn't even offer a store credit. I am a California transplant spoiled by ACE service in Fremont. Today Dean and Perry went above and beyond with my lock problem. My problem, not theirs. They helped me to get the right parts, allowed me to return my old parts purchased there even though the packages had been opened. Could I have purchased those locks at Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot? Sure. Drive further, speak with people with no hardware experience at Walmart, wander around with a clerk as everybody tries to find where the locks are, and save 64 cents. Drive further, hike around to try to find the locks in Home Depot, try to find a sales person to find the locks, stand in line to return and exchange the wrong lock -- and save 85 cents. OR go to ACE in your golf cart, be graciously greeted as you enter (yes, you will notice and get used to it!), have help offered by at least two experienced hardware people before you can get to the area to buy your item, have them ask if they may serve you further, exchange your wrong item in nothing flat AT CHECKOUT (not a distant separate arena) without any questions, and get back to your project. What is fantastic attitude, great service and experience worth? Far more than that 85 cents!! We would have spent that on gasoline in the extra miles of driving alone! Want something to get your job done? Go to ACE. I spoke to the Anthem ACE Hardware OWNER about the great service extended by both Perry and Dean. Have you tried speaking with the manager at Lowes, or Home Depot? How long did you have to wait? Have you ever spoken to the OWNER at any other hardware store? Terrible customer service, the associate walked by me like 7 times and saw me struggling and didn't even offer help. I finally asked him for an specific item I was looking for and told me that what was there was there, never scan the item and attempt to look in the inventory or nothing, I never felt mistreated, and I really don't want to think that ethnicity played on this role, because every was white and I'm Hispanic. It's rare when I can say the service at a Home Depot is a lot better than a similar store. I was in town and dropped by Home Depot for some stuff for a project. As usual I needed more stuff so I went to Ace. Not friendly at all. Had to make a second trip and got the same unfriendly service. At least Home Depot is typically a lot less expensive. read more

After reading on Next Door how Ace Hardware in Anthem replaced the screen in their window frame inexpensively and in just a few hours, I took my living room screen in to them. The lady that waited on me wanted to know what color screen I wanted. I told her the same color that is in it. It took a few minutes, and her walking out on the floor to stand by the different colors of screen, for me to repeat I just want the same color. Then she asked about the springs---well, the screen is going to go back in the same window so lets put the springs in the same place they are currently. This discussion took several minutes. Finally its ordered and She told me it could take up to two weeks. That was a huge surprise as I had heard it was done in the store the same day. I later found out they send the screen away. Check out line. Three in front of me. Two cashiers. Not bad. My turn to take it to the cashier. I take it to his open window when he motions me over. He looks at my order and says he can't do it. No explanation--he just can't do it and now I have to go back and wait in line for the other cashier. She motions me over, does the transaction and tells me the screen will be back in a week. It will be two weeks tomorrow. I call to find out if the screens ready. "No' she yells me. "It may be back next Tuesday" NEXT TUESDAY. No one ever told me that. She says to me "I told you it would be two weeks". I say Yes, you did. So that means tomorrow. No she says. They pick them up on Tuesday and deliver them back two weeks later. I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT. This was my first time ever in Ace Hardware. I have been intrigued for a long time by their ads and when I walked in I was impressed by their doggie items. I already had my list made up for tomorrow when I was to pick up my screen. I, for one, cannot make excuses for her attitude or her rudeness. I will never shop at Ace again. read more

Staff at this Ace are always courteous and helpful. Never have an issue finding someone to help me. For a small store they always seem to have what I am looking for. Recently I needed some very specific stainless steel Allen head bolts for a transmission pan and they had exactly what I needed in stock. read more

Rip Off!!! They charge $50 for a propane tank. Then $20 to exchange for a full tank when empty. However if you want to just return the tank without getting a new one they don't return your $30 deposit. I will never shop there again until they change their policy. read more

I was very excited when this store re-opened. I always try and support local businesses, before the corporate giants. I've been to the store many times, since they opened. I recently took a paint sample in to have it matched. The match was too light. I understand that paint matching is not an exact science, so I went back to the store to see if they could darken it slightly. When I told the person behind the counter what I needed, he told me "We're closing soon, so you'll have to come back." Not we're closed, but we're closing soon. It seems that if a customer comes in during business hours, you should help them. Especially when it's to correct something you did. Needless to say, I went to Home Depot. Beautiful store. Was glad to see them reopen but since going there not too sure of their future. If you want to keep customers coming back you are going to have to work on customer service skills. We ordered one thing off of Ace hardware.com and when picking it up they were rude and annoyed. Then on black Friday tried again and cashier acted like I was bothering her. Today I went in and was looking for some things and noticed an employee following me around the store. I stopped and looked back at him waiting for him to say something but he just looked away. I continued shopping and went home. I had to go back later on and as soon as I walked in the same thing happened. I rode a bike so I need to carry a backpack, they asked me to remove it and while it made sense I was shocked because of how much I go in there. After this the employee continued to follow me AFTER I removed my backpack. I will not be returning to this store that treats common customers like CRIMINALS. read more
