Beautiful restaurant with excellent service. We had a great time sitting on the patio, which was nice because it allowed us to avoid the loud interior. The goat cheese with grilled peaches was absolutely amazing--great flavor and easily the highlight of the meal. If that were all we had eaten, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars. Unfortunately, everything after that was disappointing. I ordered the filet, which was one of the most expensive entrees on the menu, but it lacked flavor. The carrots were bland, and the potatoes were hard and also lacking in flavor. It was especially disappointing because everything was plated so beautifully. The cocktails were okay--beautifully presented, but not particularly memorable. I may come back and try a different entree, but I'm not sure the food was impressive enough to make this a must-return. Answer has been on my list for happy hour! $6 drinks and snacks! They have a great happy hour with solid food and drink options. HEADS-UP the happy hour menu is bar-top only, so plan accordingly if you're going specifically for those deals. Limited seating available. Happy Hour & Spice Level I had the happy hour cocktail it was bourbon, lemon and honey. The food was flavorful overall, but I do wish the menu clearly noted which items are spicy. Most of the happy hour dishes seemed to have some kind of chili oil or heat element. That may be great for people who enjoy spice, but it would be helpful to know ahead of time, especially if you're sensitive to heat. For dessert, we always come back for the chocolate panna cotta with graham cracker crumble and burnt marshmallow, which was a nice sweet finish. This one is a must! To put this into next level I recommend adding the pretzel bites instead of graham cracker and a few salted flakes. We also tried the almond butter cornbread with blackberry, but I would avoid it. It was pretty dry and didn't have enough balance. The manager? Said it was a new item they were trying. I think it would be much better with ice cream or a salted caramel sauce to add moisture and richness. It was dry even when I mentioned it they didn't comp it we only had a bite and immediately decided it wasn't worth it. Final Thoughts Overall, Answer is a nice spot with a great happy hour, but clearer spice notes on the menu and a few tweaks to the dessert options would make the experience better. If you are seating by the bar it gets loud I wish the bartender doesn't just throw the drinks/plates so aggressively that it clanks. We were in town and tried Answers as a last minute choice. With the rating we thought it would be fine. The hostess greeted us with "if you don't have a reservation, you can have a table for 45 minutes." No where did I see that reservations are required. Luckily 3 spots opened at the bar so we sat there because we were told "you can sit there with no time limit." The bartender serving us made no effort to look anything but annoyed with our presence. We had never been there and had questions but she would just point at the menu. I ordered a Diet Coke, which came in a can, one person with me ordered an old fashioned which was more glass than drink and the other people picked a beer from the list the bartender silently pointed at. This would have been a cool place if at least 1 person working here didn't look like they hated being there. Because of how we had been treated from the start we only ordered 2 appetizers, the dip and the flatbread. The dip was fine but the flatbread was like cat food on burnt toast. Oh and don't bother ordering a tea, I saw them serving bottles of gold peak tea, can't even brew tea. The answer is...the answer. Eric R. randomly selected Answer on a list of restaurants we scrolled through to make a reservation for on our first night in Nashville this week. It is tucked in a neighborhood in the West End, and most people were surprised we found it or had heard of it as non-locals. It is a very popular spot. We arrived 20 minutes early and snagged the last parking spot in the lot behind the restaurant. Eric R. wanted to sit outside, so we were directed to wait at the bar until a table opened up. I got the cucumber sage yuzu spritz mocktail, and Eric R. got a local amber beer. Our table was ready within 10 or 15 minutes, so we migrated to it for dinner. Our server was helpful in providing recommendations. We started with three shareables: the mussels in lemongrass serrano beer broth and grilled bread, tempura long-stemmed artichokes on Calabrian chile mascarpone, and the lamb lollipops with pearled cous cous. I tasted the lamb, and it was heavenly, like melt-in-your-mouth tender but with a lot of caramelization. That was really Eric R.'s choice so I let him eat the majority of it. I really enjoyed the mussels and the artichokes! Everything was hot and delicious. I was sipping broth with a mussel shell when the bread ran out, and the host came out with more bread for us! It was so good. We asked to see a dessert menu. Eric R. had a tough choice between carrot cake and blondie with caramel ice cream, but was steered toward the blondie and did not regret it. Ok so, I was fully prepared to give a 4 star review because of how difficult it was for us to find parking (even the community center was full, we found 1 spot about a 10 minute walk away). However, I can't in good conscience do that, because this was a meal we will remember for a long time coming. I found answer just by chance on Resy, and decided to book it because the reviews were positive. We were blown away by the food. We started with the mushroom appetizer- so so delicious. I appreciated that it wasn't overly cheesy, and the leeks actually brought a lot to the dish. Next, we tried the special, which was a Thai curry snapper, and the hot chicken dish. My goodness were we unprepared for just how perfect and delicious these would be. I absolutely couldn't get enough of the peanut slaw paired with the chicken. My fiancé is pretty picky when it comes to fried chicken, and he said this was the 2nd best fried chicken he's ever had. The flavor of the curry was also very interesting- it was pineapple forward but also had a slight kick. Finally, the service was efficient, quick, and so friendly. We were seated right away, and the restaurant was lively but not too loud. I would definitely recommend a reservation, we went on a Thursday night and it was quite busy! A fantastic happy hour! The atmosphere of this place is chic yet cozy and is the perfect vibe for happy hour. My friend and I arrived around 5:15 p.m., and there was a wait for the bar (the only spot where they serve happy hour). The host put us down on the list, and it took only maybe 10 minutes to be sat. Once we were sat the bartender immediately checked in on us, and we both ordered the mango margaritas. This drink is sweet without being syrupy with a delicious mango flavor. Tucked away off the beaten path in the Sylvan Park neighborhood sits this culinary gem! There's a parking lot behind the restaurant, along with plenty of free street parking. Everything we tried was absolutely scrumptious -- seasoned and flavored to perfection. For starters, we ordered mushrooms sautéed in lemon, pickled garlic, a creamy sauce, and leeks. Next came the panzanella salad -- not only tasty but also healthy -- full of kale, vibrant fruits and vegetables, and dressed with a house-made vinaigrette. The service was the best of any restaurant I have been to since moving to Nashville two years ago. Everyone on staff works together to create a welcoming, comfortable and very special atmosphere and dining experience. And while I can't say enough good things about the food and service, I was most impressed with how they handled an issue with the gift card. For some reason the card had $0 value and instead of making a big deal out of the situation or questioning it, they honored the card and applied the amount to our bill. We didn't make a resy as we thought we were going early enough to not need it but that was not the case. As soon as I walked in, I saw how this is a local favorite. It was vibrant and the bar area was crowded. It was our second experience at this wonderful restaurant known as "answer.", indeed Nashville's best answer to the question "What is your favorite American tapas restaurant?"! Answer. is truly a neighborhood eatery just as the founders intended in 2017, filling a culinary void between the sparse offerings on Murphy Road and the vast restaurant scene on Charlotte Pike. This tapas experience manages to be simultaneously upscale yet affordable, high-class but budget-friendly. Three in our party of four were professional chefs and gave the food rave reviews, so you know it's good! Their arancini is one of the best things I've eaten in Nashville! Like all dishes on this ever-changing menu, this was modified from its native form, clearly inspired by the popular Italian appetizer but uniquely transformed by the chef. You'll slice through a deep-fried crispy exterior to reveal tender rice. But other flavors and textures treat your taste buds with fatty ground pork at the center. The king salmon is perhaps the best piece of fish I've ever had in my 30 years in Nashville, slightly crisped on the outside, tender and flaky, full of flavor, and perfectly prepared. Unfortunately, since this was the nightly special (August of 2024), it may not appear on the menu when you go. The trout is another great option that's more consistently offered, as are the meatballs. The mussels are fabulous with a flavorful broth, but the fresh rye bread that accompanies the mussels is one of the restaurant's best-kept secrets! Met my youngest for dinner a few nights back at answer. and had a great experience. Would recommend. answer. is a nice little restaurant on 46th avenue in the Sylvan Park area. Super tiny parking lot, so likely will be street parking, but not too hard to find one within a close proximity. There is a small patio for outdoor dining and the main room is tables around a huge bar, which was crowded when we arrived (happy hour). Atmosphere? Very contemporary and a bit loud. Not the spot for a quiet date, especially when happy hour is on and the bar is jam packed. They have an open air kitchen along the back of the restaurant, so you can see the chef and cooks working their magic on the other side of the room. I like this touch. Service? Very good. Bethany, our server, had a lot of tables, but was very observant when we needed something. I was thankful when she boxed up the rest of the whipped cheese, as it made a wonderful second "meal". Drinks? I started with their bourbon cocktail, which is a bit sweeter than I would normally go with a cocktail, but nicely done. For the record, I would opt for cocktails at Hathorne or Common Ground before answer. but the happy hour specials might be worth it. For our meal, she got the trout and I got the steak. The trout was nicely done, although a bit overdone on the edges. Fortunately, not to the point the filets were super chewy. The Brussels on the plate were wondeful and it was nicely plated. Of the two sauces, the green sauce was more pleasing. The steak was beautifully cooked and topped with a wonderful chimichuri crema. The green beans were lightly cooked and had a bacon jam on them. The potato was cooked very nicely, although with my diabetes I did not eat much of it. Dessert was a strawberry rhubarb crisp with lemoncello gelato on top. I love the tartness of the rhubarb with the granola like crisp and sweet strawberries. I would definitely recommend if this is your type of dessert. Overall, I found the experience to be worthy of a return trip, but there are other places in the same basic price point I find a bit nicer (About $75-$80 per person with appetizer, dessert, and drinks). My favorite happy hour in Nashville, hands down and I love that the prices haven't changed ($6 for house red, white, or cava or the cocktail of the moment or any of the food options) despite the pandemic and inflation. For happy hour, arrive between 4:30 and 6 on a weekday and grab a seat at the bar. (Beware: happy hour is ONLY if you are at the bar, so arrive early to guarantee a seat. They don't take reservations for the bar.) If you order wine, the pours are generous and do not taste like bottom-of-the-shelf options. Cava is usually my drink of choice here, but the cocktail options have also always been tasty and not too sweet when I've gotten them. For food: the easy crowd pleasers are the Dip (a sizzling goat cheese / tomato sauce concoction), shisito peppers (beware for an occasional truly spicy one) and the potatoes. On a recent visit I also loved the flatbread for something a little heartier (it's new to the menu but small, so be mindful when ordering.) Service can sometime be slow but I give grace when there are only two bartenders to a packed bar. They are generous with recommendations (and as stated previously, with wine pours.) Parking is easy and free on the street, even for the parallel parking averse. May this wonderful local hang always be tasty and $6 from 4:30 to 6 pm. read more

Bucatini: This was the number one recommended food item and it did not disappoint! That lamb and beef ragu was flavorful and the pasta was perfectly al-denote and went well with the sauce. Must get this!! The bread crumbs on top was a great topping to the dish. Fried chicken: This surprised me because I was thinking that it was just a normal fried chicken and may be a little dry but it was the opposite! The chicken was sooo juicy and it was perfectly fried And lightly seasoned. The sambal aioli was really good and impressive and paired super well with the chicken. The slaw was so refreshing to finish off the the meal. Pesto pasta With chicken: very fresh pesto, so fresh you can taste the basil and pine nuts.
