Excellent food, delicious libations, great service. An all around winner. We met a friend here for happy hour drinks and a snack and it did not disappoint. The food was all amazing. I personally had the watermelon salad and it was a deliciously unique pairing of watermelon, feta, balsamic, olives and pepperoncinis. I would never have thought to combine all those flavors. But I have been crazy that salty/sweet flavor profile ever since. My cocktail was also delicious. And the server was very patient with us, as it took a while for us to settle in and look over the menu. If I'm ever in New York again, I would definitely come back! read more

I appreciate that they took the complaint seriously and handled the follow-up thoughtfully and professionally. ---- Wanted to like this place, but unfortunately one server managed to turn the entire night into an unnecessarily hostile experience. For context: we were a group of Asian girls just trying to have a chill night out. We were never rude, never yelling, never trying to get out of paying for anything. In fact, we DID pay for the cocktail we didn't enjoy - the one that was personally recommended to us as "their favorite on the menu." What caught us off guard was that the instant reaction to hearing we didn't like it was: "You still have to pay for it." Nobody even suggested otherwise. Things just kept getting weirder from there. We were told to "stand in a corner" while waiting for a table. One of the glasses at our table was visibly dusty and took around 20 minutes to replace. At the end of the night, we spent ~15 minutes trying to flag someone down so we could pay and get our receipt for reimbursement. Since nobody was coming by, we stood near the entrance waiting for a server to come out, only to immediately get hit with: "Are you leaving without paying?" When we asked for the receipt, we were told "did you press the button?" on the POS machine... except there literally was no button. At this point the music was extremely loud, so yes, we had to speak up to communicate. Somehow this was interpreted as aggression from our side. What really crossed the line was when the server started cursing at us and telling us to "back the f*** off" while we were asking for their name / a manager because we would like to be treated fairly. We were not in their personal space, not touching anyone, not causing a scene. Another server actually stepped in and tried to de-escalate the situation, which was very much appreciated. I fully understand table service is stressful, especially at busy bars. But this went way beyond normal stress or attitude. It genuinely made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable, and honestly left a worse taste than the cocktail itself. Also, if this truly was the only server working with no manager around (as we were told, despite visibly seeing other staff working), then that's a serious operational issue. No customer should be put in a situation where there's nobody available to professionally handle conflict resolution. The place itself is okay. But this experience alone was enough that I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending it to anyone unless they have a humiliation kink. read more

Nice little spot. I came on a Wednesday night to try this fried chicken I'd heard about. Great time to come, because it was by no means crowded, plenty of seating, dare I say SPACIOUS. They have 2 little tables set up outside the bar and I got to snag one of them so I could people-watch on a warm summer evening. Both the bartender and server were super cool and friendly; None of the cocktails on their menu interested me, but whoever said the bartender knows their stuff was right. They whipped me up a DELICIOUS and potent "rum punch mix" to go with my order of fried chicken (Note: Fries are separate, and an additional $8; places should stop doing this lol). Now I can see why this chicken was recommended; amazing crispy, juicy inside, tonkatsu-style is what it reminded me of, with a tangy side of what had to HOMEMADE ranch. Cute, kinda-hidden new (since February?) addition of a semi-casual bar to the neighborhood. We've only been once, but thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to returning to sample more of their menu. According to our server, Another Country took over the old Chat 'n' Chew space. I'd entirely forgotten that restaurant even existed; I don't think I've ever stepped foot inside once, after living and working in the area for more than a decade. I'm glad that Another Country opened here, though. Saying that it's an upgrade is a drastic understatement. After stepping down into the entryway, you're immediately greeted by a substantial bar. The host stand is apparently just past the bar -- then the venue extends extremely far back; perhaps the entire street block? I was amazed that the hallway just kept on going and going. It's not obvious from the street just how expansive the space is. We only had one drink each and some light bites, although I eyed several items I'd like to try in the future. The fried peanuts made for a savory bar snack, but I probably wouldn't order them again. The mortadella sandwich, however, knocked my socks off. Imagine the most classic crunchy grilled cheese sandwich exterior, but rather than gooey dairy in the middle, you have flawlessly aesthetic layers of meltingly tender mortadella and impeccably stacked pickles. Every bite was an umami bomb and offered an exquisite juxtuposition of textures and flavors. 100% would recommend -- we split one sandwich between the two of us and it was a perfect pre-dinner snack. Drink-wise, I found the No Room for Squares to be a sound rendition of a mezcal negroni, but the Rufus -- with its unexpected combination of vanilla and cynar -- really stood out. Really fun place. Excellent service. Decent drinks. You can enjoy the music or go to the spacious rear area and grab a table for conversation. They made me a Negroni like drink because they didn't have the stuff for their Negroni on the menu. Not bad but one I wouldn't order again. My friend got the tequila cocktail and it was fantastic. We shared the cauliflower dish and the fires, both were delicious. My friend got the mortadella sandwich that she seemed to enjoy. I didn't try it so cannot confirm if the meat is of good quality. We shared the chocolate dessert which was chocolate based stuff tends to be, pretty decent. Overall, I strongly recommend if you are in the area and are looking for a bar-ish place. read more

Highly recommend . It's a good place for after work drinks with people you actually want to be able to talk to without shouting. The ambiance is classy but not snooty . My husband and I were looking for a spacious bar to get together with a few friends and Another Country was perfect! Our group gathered at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and quick. The host also tried to put our group in the back but we were a bit too large. It was thoughtful of them to try. The drinks are fantastic (including mocktails). We also tried some of the food - also great. The vibe is warm with great jazz music playing and not too loud. The bar is pretty new and very clean. We'll be going back! read more

It certainly doesnt give intimate but it's just not very vibey in general. It's a space and that is all. Casual. Wouldn't recommend for dates. Friends might be ok.
