Don't be fooled by their corporate stock photos. It's a bait and switch. The food was BLAND AF. Rock hard biscuits, goopy gravy, burnt sausage, burnt bacon, spent oil fried unseasoned potatoes, unseasoned eggs, it just goes on from there. Never trust a place with stock photos, stock fonts, and giant menus. Go support the smaller spots that do brunch. They have actual chefs and cooks... whom all use SALT! EDIT: also, never trust a restaurant that hires someone to respond every single critique, review, and comment. We went on a Sunday at around 10 am. We were 30 min away when I saw the wait time was 45-60 min, so I put my name on the list from a link in Yelp. We got two drinks while we waited, a salted caramel cold brew and an apple pie mimosa. Both were tasty. After we sat down (not at least 6 feet from other tables), we waited another hour after ordering before our food came. My Mardis Gras omelette was good; plenty of meat in it. His shrimp Benedict was decently good, but that was the last day they had it on the menu FYI. They replaced it with a brisket Benedict which I think would've been better than the shrimp one anyway. My sister was practically begging to take me here. I figured it would be a basic breakfast place with nothing unique to it, so I wasn't looking forward to it. However, this place took me by surprise. It has such a great atmosphere and the menu has plenty of unique options. My breakfast (pictured) was incredible. I got the hash brown Benedict with cheesy grits. Absolutely to die for. Our waitress Maddy was awesome, and the entire staff was just wonderful. A chef had a family emergency and had to leave, all of the workers were very apologetic about it but life happens, it was no big deal to us. The wait time was about an hour, even after we received an estimated wait of 30-45 minutes by adding our names to the online waitlist and checking in with the hostess. It was very busy (around 12:45 on Sunday) and noisy and difficult to hear the people at our table. They had run out of biscuits and a few other menu items. The waiter was very apologetic. The food was tasty, although the brioche bun that was supposed to come on the Southern Chicken Sandwich was replaced by a kind of wimpy hamburger bun, maybe another item they had run out of. This spot is brand new to the area so we thought we'd give it a try. Thankfully we joined the waitlist online before arriving because the place was packed. I loved the ambiance and decor, and it looks like they may be building a small patio off of the bar area. When we arrived at the restaurant I checked in with the hostess and we were able to monitor our spot in line from the Yelp app, which was awesome. We were seated fairly quickly, probably within 10 minutes of arriving. The gal who seated us, upon finding out we'd never been to another franchise of theirs before, gave an exhaustive tour of the menu which frankly I didn't really appreciate or need. Seriously, it took like 5 minutes. When our waitress finally arrived we ordered coffee and water as well as our meals as it took quite some time for her to come over. I will say their coffee was fantastic, and they will allow you to take a cup to go, which is nice. I ordered their Monterey Omelette and my husband had the Southwest Scrambler. Once we ordered we waited, and waited, and waited for our food. When they started handing out Danimals Yogurt to all the kids in the restaurant that was fairly telling that the kitchen was backed up. It seems that they were pretty much at a standstill. No food was coming out, and no tables were turning over. Once we did finally get our food I will say it was good. Pretty standard for breakfast fair. We will come back, but I'm really hoping they will work out some of the kinks in food turnaround time and service. read more

The Broken Egg gets 5 stars in my book. My wife and I visited the Broken Egg yesterday. We were politely and promptly seated. Daniel was our server and he added so much to the experience. Finally stopped in here and i'm kicking myself for not coming in sooner. We were seated immediately and the space is kind of crowded but it was fine for us. I ordered the spiked salted caramel cold brew and it was amazing. Our waiter Nate informed us very early on that it was going to be a long wait on food because the kitchen was behind but he brought out complimentary beignets to snack on which I really appreciated. I ordered the crab cakes benedict and it was the perfect portion size and tasted great. My friend for the fried chicken biscuit sandwich and it was huge. She also really enjoyed it. This should be one of those things you avoid like the flu. At 10 AM on a Sunday they were out of tea, so I ordered an Irish coffee. It tasted like they put N entire Irishman in it. We ordered crab meat topped omelets. Looked like 2 egg omelets filled with cream cheese. The crab, sautéed in garlic butter (which didn't help), tasted old and canned. For the price it should have been fresh. The coffee was so-so. The biscuit beignets were extremely heavy and chewy. The honey wouldn't even stay on them. Service was pretty good and I was definitely tipping on that, not the food. $70 for breakfast that couldn't meet Denny's standards was WAY too much. I popped in here with my laptop to work over breakfast and had a great experience! Everyone was excessively friendly, pleasant and attentive. My waiter, James, brought me complimentary beignets and marmalade since it was my first time in. The drip coffee tastes better than what you get at most breakfast spots and is served at a drinkable temp, which sounds like a small thing, but I hate when you have to wait ten minutes to drink your coffee because it's scalding hot. The veggie omelet and breakfast potatoes were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The only thing I can complain about is one of the servers was singing to herself the entire time as she walked around the space, and I found it really annoying. The manager noticed and swooped in and got our drink order, brought some waters, and gave us some menu suggestions. Another member of management brought drinks and let us know our server would be right with us. She came and took our order and apologized for the delay. She was really sweet and explained that she had been getting double and triple sat in her section all morning which happened while we were there as well. The food was amazing! We had a really great first experience here on their opening day! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to how long we waited for our order. It was their very first day being open so I totally get it. They'll need to work the kinks out and whatnot. We needed some time to kind of look over menu options so we did ask our server to come back to take our order, but then we didn't see her for a good 10 mins after that. However she made up for it in personality alone because she was super sweet. The abe famous infused bloody marys that we ordered were amazing! They have a kick to them but not crazy spicy. They also come with a giant slice of bacon in them so if you're vegetarian make sure to tell them to not put it in there! Or ask for it on the side or something and give it to your bacon loving partner. I love that they have a legit allergy friendly menu. There's tons of options. Nothing vegan (besides a granola bowl) but also one of the most gluten free and vegetarian menu options I've seen on a speciality menu. The gluten free trio pancakes are delicious! I told her I wanted all 3 just plain gluten free pancakes but she brought me out a trio of 3 diff kind of pancakes. They were all still good though. I got potatoes on the side and they're probably some of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had! They're uper crispy and fresh. My husband got the bacquezo omelette and said it was the best omelette he's ever had in his life lol. Bacquezo is basically queso with chorizo and bacon in it. Which to me sounds like a heart attack but to him it's a wet dream come true. I'm excited to eventually give them another shot. Was at the Overland Park, KS location on Sunday 6/12 with a group of friends - 5 of us in total - as we had heard good things about the place. First, we had to reduce our party of 7 as we were told ahead of time that parties of 7+ were no accepted on the weekends from 8:30a - 1p. Weird #1, no? One of our now remaining party of 5 added our name to the wait list about 10:30a and was told it would be about 40-45 minutes. The remainder of us showed up at 11a. It was close to 11:35 when we were beckoned inside, only to wait another 15 minutes of standing inside, before being seated. Menus were tossed on the table at us instead of being handed to us. We soon ordered water and drinks from our server, Hunter - only to be told that they couldn't do any Mules as they were out of ginger beer. Weird #2, no? So, more modifications to our plans created an order of one soda, one coffee, and three cocktails. The coffee and soda showed up somewhat promptly - about 15 minutes - but with no silverware to stir the coffee. We waited another 20 minutes for our cocktails with no apology for the wait or reason from our server. A ways into 'The Epic Drink Wait' we were allowed to order food. One person tried to order Biscuits & Gravy only to be told that they didn't offer B&G on the weekends. Weird #3, no? During the 40+ minute wait for food, as most of us had finished our drinks with no offer of refills or a second round, we had to flag down our waiter to, for a third time, request the round of water that we had already asked for twice. Once the food arrived - at 12:50p, almost two hours into our time here - one waffle was cold, two orders of eggs had a very weird taste to them, and most acknowledged that the seasoning of their food was lacking. However, after the wait so far, we all were afraid to send the food back. At 1:30 we were finally headed for the door. Never an apology for the wait, lack of service, anything. Weird #4, no? At this point we're expecting Ashton Kutcher to come out of the kitchen saying we're getting Punked. I picked up the ticket for three of our goers - $81 for a waffle, a traditional breakfast, a scramble, a soda, two bar drinks, no service, and over 2-1/2 hours. I came in a Saturday around 11ish I think it's beneficial to checkin on first. Also they have designated 2 person tables so the wait was not even 10 minutes after arriving at checkin time. Once seated and you order the service is slow on getting your food, I would suggest knowing what you want before arriving. I ordered the tropical sangria drink it was really good and I ordered the shrimp and grits and substituted the andouille sausage for chicken sausage. I did like that the ingredients are added in separately it's hard for me to find places that I can take the andouille sausage out. My food was really good and flavorful. I just did not like the long wait for my food to come out. Also I asked my waiter for more garlic bread and she never brought it I was lagging on eating my food waiting for it and never received it. Upon arriving we were told we had a 30 minute wait (use those Open Table reserves people!) and were seated in a little over 20 minutes. It's a fairly new location and not very big inside, but I'm sure once their popularity grows (it was pretty packed in there) they will hopefully open more and larger locations. There were so many tasty New Orleans influenced dishes listed on the menu that I honestly had a hard time deciding on what to eat. After much debate, I settled on the shrimp & grits with a side of country potatoes and a peach Bellini. Due to my indecisive nature I'm known to order something and then quickly wish I had ordered the other item I was deciphering over, but boy did I hit it on the nail this time! The shrimp & grits were absolutely wonderful! I've been to New Orleans four times and it reminded me of the first time my tastebuds exploded over the shrimp and grits down there. My grandma is from Baton Rouge and even she would have been impressed! We had a previous bad experience here and decided to try it again. I mean we are all human right? My biggest recommendation is to hire hostess that understands how to manage a waitlist and walk-ins. The hostess extended our waitlist time by 35-45 mins past the initial 20-30 mins and her reasoning was "I'm sorry we had a lot of walk-ins." She was very shocked when we said that's ok just take our name off the waitlist. I decided to stop by Another Broken Egg with my mom who was visiting from out of town. A staff member was at the door and held it open for us and was extremely warm and inviting as we entered. We were seated promptly and introduced to our waiter and given an introduction to new menu items. We tried the guava stuffed French toast with a side of eggs and bacon/sausage. ABE is our go to gor weekend breakfast or lunch. I can say that the entire is menu is absolutely delicious having tried almost everything. Seasonal menu items add variety for the repeat customer. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The last treat, MANGO BARBACOA TOSTADO STACK was a great joy, so good that have had it 3 visits in a row. Alexs was our server snd dupberb. Mine (the hash brown benedict) was terrible. Don't ever order this. The hasbrowns were burnt to a crisp and the portion size was laughable. Hers (salmon benedict) was terrible too!! I was so surprised at this because the restaurant was nearly empty and the food took FOREVER to come and was barely edible. The Benedicts only had an egg yolk on them and for as much as they cost, there should've been a dozen full eggs on them. We had mimosas which were really good. Love the decor and feel of this restaurant and the warm greeting when we entered this morning. I ordered a Peach Bellini first which never came so I canceled my order and a complimentary small order of beignets which were a letdown.
