Love this place! Annie is amazing. We had a great experience. All the clothes are great and Annie was super helpful.

This morning, I went to Annie's in order to sell some of my son's items, a few worn and a lot still with tags on them. The OWNER Annie told me that I would need to them drop-off as she is able to do same day as long as it is before 2 PM (I was there at 11:37 am). I proceeded to pull out my phone to take pictures of the items due to her wanting to drop them off and she stated "I've been doing this 27 years, if you don't feel comfortable leaving them thinking I'm gonna take anything, I'm just going to have you take it because you don't have to this". I sensed she felt offended which was the last thing I meant to do, so I explained to her that it was for my comfortability as this was my first time doing a drop-off or anything with a consignment that accepts the brands listed on the website and had nothing at all to do with her or the business, it was just for me personally. She gave me a slip to fill out and as I started to fill the form out, I suddenly stopped as I then started to feel uncomfortable with her whole demeanor and how she spoke to me, so I said "Well never-mind, because now I am starting to feel uncomfortable" and she responded by saying "Well I really don't care" I asked for her name and she said very proudly "I am Annie, I am the owner". We left and I was just very disgusted with her and how she spoke to me and not to mention my son as we walked out stated "That was not nice"! I see why this business is rated 1.0. If that is how she treats customers let alone a first time customer, then she should perhaps reevaluate running her business because after 27 years of alleged business one would or should have developed great customer service. read more

I was just checking to see if Annie's was re-open yet, and noticed the bad reviews, so I wanted to chime in to give another perspective. If you are looking for warm fuzzy customer service, this is not the place for you. The owner is not overly friendly, and seems pretty indifferent about how you feel about your shopping experience. That said, I don't find her rude. She is just...not friendly, and for me, that's okay. I have heard her with other customers, and she can be pretty blunt. She is very much a take it or leave it kind of person. I can understand how it rubs people wrong, but I prefer to just do my shopping without a lot of fuss, so I don't have a problem with her. I go in regularly on my lunch breaks. I need to get in and get out. I typically know exactly what I'm looking for, and she either has it or she doesn't. I don't need her to leave her work sorting buys to take care of me. I'm good. I specifically go to Annie's for the shoe selection. It's huge for a resale shop, and the shoes are often in really good shape and priced right. I tell all of my friends to get their kids' shoes here. I have 4 kids who need new shoes every season and Annie's is THE PLACE to keep them in stylish, decent shoes without breaking my wallet. Sometimes I even find a pair for myself. The deals I find here far outweigh a shop owner who is a bit stand-offish. My one complaint is how packed the clothes racks are. I rarely look at the clothes because I hate packed racks, and hers are very, very full. The quality of the clothes is all over the place, just like every other resale shop I've ever been to. Some of it is great, and some of it should have never been put on a hanger. It is what it is. In the Fall, she has a huge coat/jacket selection, and I've bought several over the years. Wait, I have another complaint. She's not open in the evenings and now that I'm working from home, I can't get there during the day. I've missed Annie's and my kids need new summer shoes. I wish I could give negative stars. I wondered why she only does drop off service when you come to sell clothing. I soon figured out why. She lies and steals and has poor business ethics. I cleaned out my son's closet and many of the items that I brought with me were brand new while some had been worn only once. After she rummaged through the boxes, she said she only took some shoes and one Nike outfit. When I went through the boxes, not only had she taken all of the new clothing, a new snowsuit, and a couple of other designer outfits, she also took all of my sons shoes. She already charges way too much for used clothing. Why lie? Why cheat people? People, you would be better off donating items to charity so that people in need can get them, not a woman in greed. read more

I had no idea this place existed - tucked away in a little corner of KC. This place is AWESOME! The owner is SUPER nice. The atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back. Mostly children's clothing, but I spotted some gorgeous heels and clutch's while I was there. THANKS for being AWESOME!!! read more

Annie and her staff are very rude and unwelcoming especially to African Americans I've shopped in her store plenty and many of times. On the occasions that I recently paid closer attention I've witnessed her watch people of color closer than anyone else although she has cameras in the store now. I refuse to spend my money in any store that does business like this and I don't care good or low her prices are I'll take my business and money elsewhere. read more

After seeing a couple low reviews, I had to chime in. Annie's is a terrific child clothing boutique, a wonderful asset for midtown. Just the other day we bought 3 pair of name brand shoes (Michael Kors, etc) and a couple outfits, all for under $30! All of them were like-new. And they have MUCH more selection than Walmart or Target. They pay a fair amount for trade-ins, & curate a nice collection of quality clothing (most are very lightly used) for roughly 50-75% off retail. We have friends from Plaza, Volker, Coleman Heights, Brookside, Rockhill, Hyde Park, etc routinely come here. A few notes on the customer complaints. First, I saw a woman yell and storm out because Annie's didn't buy their Walmart or Target brand clothes. It's not a pawn shop, Annie's is selective. But we've brought clothes in once or twice, they politely turned down some stuff (overstocked or whatever), and offered a fair price for the rest (a dollar or two per item). Also, I agree the staff isn't particularly outgoing or bubbly, but they're always helpful if you ask. I've seen an unreasonable amount of angry customers, which I just can't explain (I think some of these people are from the laundromat next door, wandering in to kill time). And once I saw a person scream at the staff over the return policy (I don't think they allow returns at all). But on most days the shop is a nice, quiet, quick stop. We've never had a problem, and it's a great go-to place for shoes and outfits. read more
