Love this hidden gem. The American breakfast is good not Flappys good but way better than norms ! Surprisingly it's there Mexican breakfast that real shines here. Plates of food are more than abundant. Prices are a smudge on the high side but you definitely get what you pay for. This is a place that I always wanna to try, the fact that in located on the airport and has view of the runaway make a interesting attraction that you don't often find. Annia's Kitchen located in the aiport, you can get there by the main entrance which is in the Santa Anita, there's big sign of the restaurant too. The interior is very tradionation western style, a bit like Denny's. The menu is pretty big, it has 6 pages ! They serve both American and Mexican food. I came here during lunch time. Most people order breakfast menu, they serve breakfast all days by the way. I ended up wiht the Ribeye Steak with Eggs, which also comes with potato and even french toast. All this for $14 is bargain deal. That's the most pricey item in the menu by the way. Most of food are within affortable price range. The quality of food is alright, it does tasted quite close to Norms. Which sadly is almost all gone this day. I recommed visit here, is a pretty unique restaurant experience. read more

I read about this place a couple of years back but never got around to checking it out until this past weekend. I guess I was expecting an airshow or something but air flights were infrequent. This place is located inside the El Monte Airport. A tiny airport for single engine types and helicopters. This place caters to old fogies and locals. It's essentially a Denny's in my opinion. There breakfast portions are skimpy and nothing about it was grand like the grand slam at Denny's. Service was very slow after getting my cranberry juice. I ordered the sunrise breakfast that included Three tiny eggs over medium which bled like an over easy, hash browns that was a 1/4 of a medium potato, two skinny bacon strips and two fluffy pancakes that were decent size for $6.99 a buck more than the menu stated because I don't know why other than I wasn't a senior citizen, perhaps. It was a nice day and breezy so we opted for outdoor seating. There are a bunch of parked airplanes all over the place but we did see a single engine air fighter type plane take off and a helicopter land. read more

Have flown out of El Monte [ EMT ] airport off & on for years and have seen more than a few food-service wannabes come and go. However, it looks like the right people are in charge now and know what they're doing. The last people who owned this place didn't belong ON an airport. - they didn't open early - they didn't really cater to the aviation crowd (that is, they didn't really offer much - other than a muffin or donut - that was quick, portable and didn't require a 10-minute wait to serve those aviators that need something quick). That has all changed. This place has GOOD food now and good-sized portions when it comes to your meal. the Huevos Rancheros dish is excellent. As are the sandwiches and burgers. Coffee is fresh and the service is attentive. Kids - young and old alike - will enjoy watching aircraft of all sorts come and go from the outside patio. It is a great place both having breakfast and watching small airplanes taking off and landing. When my daughter told me to eat breakfast here, i was very curious but skeptical saying "do we have a breakfast at the airport?" Even though i live in Arcadia nearby and i frequently on and off the 10 freeway, I've never expected that here is the restaurant. We brought my puppy Mocha but the puppy didn't be allowed ever since one man brought puppy and puppy ate food in plate. But after 3pm, it is ok. BTW, this place was not crowded at all at that time. Most customers were old timers. We were welcomed and promptly seated. Since the waitress rejected my puppy, she seemed to be guilty and trying to be very friendly with her heart for us showing her dogs in her iPhone and telling how much she love her own dogs. And she gave me a discount coupon. We ordered two stacks of pancakes, hash brown, egg and ham, and coffee. Every single food was very delicious and warm. This place is cozy inside and great view outside to watch airplane taking off and landing. The price was very reasonable and plenty of parking. I will definitely come back. read more

Definitely an interesting little place, staff was friendly enough and we went to sit out on the patio with the weather being so nice but not 5 minutes of being out there we had to move inside because another patron was talking so loudly we couldn't have our own conversation (after we moved at least 2 other tables followed our lead). Once we ordered, I chose the 2 eggs with bacon, hash browns, and toast ($7.99) and my girlfriend ordered the corned beef hash (special for the day $10.99), we didn't have to wait too long and watching the planes come in and go out was pretty neat. When the food arrived, my girlfriend noted that hers looked like pretty good sized portions while I was not as impressed with mine. Her hash browns seemed more like a pile while mine seemed to be one thin layer. With her first bite of the hash, she couldn't even swallow it. She said it tasted like hot dogs and when I had a bite, the texture was very much like ground up hot dogs. She didn't eat another bite of it and luckily had enough hash browns to keep her going. Everything was fine with my breakfast (kinda hard to mess up two eggs sunny side up with bacon, hash browns, and toast. We went to Annia's Kitchen for Father's day brunch, arrived around 10:25am and was told it would be a 30 minute wait.. surprisingly we were in the restaurant and seated within 15 minutes (a good surprise!). Our server, Efrain was very attentive. Even though the food, after ordering, took over 30 minutes to get out to us.. he kept our coffee and water glasses filled. It did take some time to finally get our check.. we had waited around for maybe 10 minutes hoping he would appear with it, but he didn't. We finally headed up to the counter and he spotted us and pulled it for us. I don't hold this against him though--they were VERY busy, with a crowd waiting in the airport sitting area from the time we got there til the time we left.. this place was popular! So, as I've said.. the food did take awhile to get out to us. And it wasn't anything fancy. (3) of us ordered the ribeye steak and eggs.. the steaks are thin.. they're intentionally cut that way so they cook fast. The disappointing factor was I ordered it medium.. and it was pretty much "done." What should be a tender piece of ribeye was chewy, aside from the small strip on the side. It also tasted a little bloody... either rinse the steak off before you bbq it, or don't let it sit in its own pool of blood.. ick. This place has no big wow factor.. even my boyfriend thought the french toast was just mediocre at best. I do appreciate the shortened wait time to sit down, and it's not bad for a breakfast place with the novelty of watching planes take off and land.. but not sure if I'll be back. based on the quality of food alone. read more

Annia's Kitchen is a no frills diner where you have the option to sit on the back patio and take in the sights (and sounds) of departing and landing planes. It's a nice way to enjoy their oh-so-yummy breakfasts. Yes, they serve lunch & dinner but breakfast is where it's at. Their pancakes are fluffy and tasty -- I usually don't crave pancakes but I'm glad I got them here because they're pretty awesome. My sis and I wanted to take our parents out for brunch, but wanted the "wow" factor, we figured it'd be "wow"-zer and fun to eat and while watching airplanes take off and land. They were like kids again on a hot summer sunny day. Everything else though could use some help. First blooper: A lady took our drink order. Two other folks came along to check on us to see if we had a chance to place our drink order. We informed them that it was already taken. Our drinks never came, keep in mind it's summer and it's hot. Second blooper: They came by twice to take our order, but we weren't ready yet. After that second time, they gave up on us and never came back. We had to flag them down and it took awhile. This is a really cute place. It's just odd that it is in the El Monte airport. Parking was pretty easy as I came here on a weekday afternoon. It was my first time so upon entrance was odd for me. I walked right in and it looked like what you expected, an airport (obviously) but just much smaller. The restaurant is located to the right. OH and I was surprised that there was a bit of a wait! I ordered the french toast and it was delicious! My sister got the typical American breakfast and it was also good. I would say the menu is pretty big so I would definitely come back to try the other items! The service is great. The waiters were all really nice and helpful. Always coming by to check up on us. This place is great to take your little kids, cousins, nephews/nieces, if they have an interest in planes. It was really cool to see the planes take off and land. Really neat! read more

We decided to have breakfast here, and give Annia's Kitchen another chance. What a pleasant metamorphosis! Our breakfasts were good! Came in just before noon on 6-5-18. It was me my MIL and my 10 month old. No one was in the front so we received no greeting, we waited two minutes in front thinking we had to be seated but no one not even the cooks acknowledged us as far as informing us whether or not we had to wait or choose a table. We ended up choosing a table sat and waited for 5 minutes no one helped us. As we were leaving a cook says "sorry". Really? Sorry? I'm sorry because I really wanted to try the food. Really had great experience at Annias. The servers we very cordial and we were seated immediately. We were there for Sunday brunch and the food was great! I ordered the Chile Verde Eggs and my gf had the hotcakes with bacon. Both delish! My only concern was that since we were seated at the window with a great view of the San Gabriel mountains and the cool little airport, the windows really needed a wipedown. what a hidden gem! I have driven by this place a million times and never even knew it was there! this place has the most amazing view! there is a patio outside so that you can sit and watch the planes come and go. also, inside there is a huge glass window so even if you are sitting inside you can see the planes as well. Their menu is huge! I had trouble deciding but when they came to take our order I wanted to change the hard shall tacos to soft tacos and they were very accommodating. All of the servers there were very nice and friendly and our waters/sodas were always full! When our food came out, I was pleasantly surprised! The tacos came out with a huge scoop of guacamole on them and a nice helping of asada. I quickly tasted the rice and beans and they were definitely on point. The salsa on the side was tasty and spicy! Will definitely be back. The have specials everyday that sounds amazing! Seems like all of the customers are local regulars. Daughter devoured her kids menudo bowl that had an enormous piece of meat that she wasn't to crazy about! Who would've ever thought that El Monte Airport would have a restaurant. Coming here for the first time I was a little skeptical of how clean the food would be. However, I love eating menudo and I heard good things about this place. We ordered a Large menudo and a veggie omelette. We were also seated outside which was a cool experience because you can watch people work on their planes and watch them take off. Our waiter was very kind and tending to our needs. The menudo was so good! It's big enough to share with another person. My veggie omelette was decent but nothing memorable. I'll definitely be coming back for more menudo mornings! 3-stars. Possibly 3.5 for the view. The service was fine and we were seated, waited on and received our food promptly. The home made salsa was good. A little watery with a touch of heat. The food was a dollar or two more than elsewhere for the standard flair. The food: it lacked flavor and spices. My breakfast burrito was a mesh of ingredients with nothing that stood out from the rest. Usually, there will be an ingredient or two that stands out. One that when you take a bite reminds you that it is there for better or worse. Does this mean they found the perfect balance for harmony within the food? No, it is simply bland. I tried my wife's pilot special omelet. I agree with her assessment. "It tastes like egg with a cheese, it's bland. " 3 stars because it is a nice place. Decent atmosphere. A person can sit on the patio and watch the planes (surprisingly low volume) take off and land. If the food was anything more than bland this would easily go up a star, maybe two. Crack open the spice rack and put some life into the food and the reviews will go up as long as the prices don't. read more
