So so so so good. Not the place to go if you're on some kind of carb restricted diet though. The panini filled with mozarella and basil are divine (put them in the oven for a few minutes to warm them up) and the rosemary rolls are just perfect with soup or for a gourmet little sandwich. The bread has a very European taste - a little more salt than the usual sweet American bread - with perfectly crisp/chewy outsides on the baguettes. The new space is really handy in Salisbury - just off the highway - there's a big parking lot and they seem to have much more available (or maybe it's just more visible) than in the old Tannery space. Beautiful bakery that shines from their heartfelt service, wonderful breads, and delightful pastries. Made it too late on a Saturday to try their croissants, so I tried the Jamaican Rum Cloud, Pumpkin Pare, and a pistachio cookie. They were all delicious! The espresso was superb. Now has moved to 175 Elm St. Salisbury in the Tom's Discount Plaza. They have a much larger space. Great bread and small baked goods like cookies. Everything there is made fresh so make sure to get there at the perfect times. I had spoken with the owner while he was moving in to the new location. He loves his new oven (4 times the size of his old one) and talks about it like its his first born child. We were so disappointed when Annarosa's moved from the Tannery because it's a bit of a chore to get over to their new space in Salisbury. But their breads are so fabulous, we make the effort, although admittedly not as often as we'd like and moreso in the cold weather when I make a lot of stews and we want fresh crusty bread to go with it. The ciabatta is spectacular but the organic wheat is my favorite. Their brioche are to die for. I prefer the tart cherry, hubby is definitely a fan of the blueberry. And peek in the refrigerator case - we got a pesto spread there that was incredible. We also usually get some other little pastry thingies that I salivate over. I am embarassed that I don't know what they are, but every time we go there, I always ask for "two of those and two of those, and how about 4 of THOSE". (Pointing is great when you don't the name of something LOL.) The last time we were in there we got a cup of their delicious coffee to go - big mistake. We ended up sitting in the parking lot like two kids, digging into the bags and sampling everything we bought. We'd gotten cookies to serve to friends for dessert that night and they never even made it home. I had to throw brownies in the oven LOL. One of the things I appreciate the most is how much we've learned about bread and how to store and care for it. They have a great instruction sheet that you can get off their web site, and we try to sample a new bread each time we go. Quite possibly one of the best bakeries in the northeast. Spot on semolina levain made on site and when entering the warm hearth aroma hits one like a wrecking ball of goodness! Like others, I was worried that Annarosa's move from the Tannery to Rt 110 in Salisbury would change it for the worse. But, no need to have worried, the new place is great. They seem to have really taken advantage of their new location to expand their offerings and their hours (Annarosa's open on Sunday mornings - Yay!) The breads and pastries are really top-notch, amazing. If you don't know what to get, just pick something. It's all good and you won't be disappointed. (I tried their cornmeal/current cookies - Zaletas- on a whim one day, and they were unusual, and yummy. Perfect with a cup of tea. read more

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Owner-operators practice what they preach: quality. Everything is amazing: the bread we bought was made from flour MILLED in Maine on Monday, delivered Tuesday and baked early this morning (Saturday). We've worked our way through most of their menu by now (over a few years) and the quality's always amazing. No weakest link in their offerings- clearly everything's made from top-quality ingredients, love, time, effort and flawless execution. We drive from the Nashua-Manchester area as often as we can to buy from Bill and Jane and their crew. I visited this Bakery last week to get some breakfast pastries. The prices are crazy expensive, but I thought if it's good, it's worth it. The croissants were hard, scones were terrible, Kouign-amann was extremely overcooked. The pastries were very small for the price. The help was not friendly at all! They offer an array of artisan breads and pastry all of them are worth trying . Also some locally roasted coffees and some cheese to go with the bread. The owners are always present and are quite friendly and helpful. recommendations: Check the website for the baking schedule and hours they do vary and can be unpredictable at times. This bakery is amazing. Their bread rivals Standard Bakery's bread in Portland, Maine which is a high bar. And the kouign amann are the closest I have ever found to Flour's version (which sets the bar for how kouign amann should be). The croissants are the best I have found in MA (very close to the quality you would get in Paris). Huge fan! read more

The absolute best bakery for bread in the area. All of their bread is good so I'm not going to review each one. They also make spectacular chocolate chip cookies that I pick up when I have guests visiting from out of town. The wheel of rolls is a thanksgiving staple for my family. I usually try something new whenever I go in such as the pizzas, croissants, or danishes. The service is also very friendly and helpful. Be aware, they are closed for 2 or 3 days a week. I believe they are closed from Sunday to Tuesday but I'm not 100% sure. read more

I've been searching for a good baguette non-stop for 3 years after moving to Southern NH. On my way back from the Newburyport Market last Sunday, I noticed the door to Annarosa's was open in a virtually empty parking lot right next to a Jurassic Park themed golf course. My husband and I decided to give it a shot. Thank God we did. This place is the real deal. Golden, crispy baguettes that make that perfect sound when you squeeze them, and rosemary epi loaves that are my new addiction. Nothing like something you can tear a hunk off of in the car and eat. Very dissatisfied. I will not utilize as a subcontractor, nor subject anyone I know to such a potential unpleasant experience by recommending. Knowledge = 1- Clerks are just that, clerks, with insufficient knowledge of product line. When in doubt, I would not hope for a guided and satisfactory outcome. When asked to suggest a bread to satisfy a certain client's dining desires the outcome was disastrous. Ignorance is clearly not bliss. This is a reflection of management, not staff. Product = 1 - Rubbery. A major disappointment. Customer Service = 1 - Unyielding and irrational, not impassioned. Ego, not customer comes first. Long gone are the days when apologies and a tiny puff pastry are extended by a gracious host. This was management, not front line staff. Respect for staff = 1 - Shifting blame and dressing down a staff person in front of customers is not appropriate. Major contracts have been lost for far less. read more

Annarosa's Bakery is a really fine place. Great artisan breads and a nice selection of freshly brewed organic coffees. Their olive breads and rosemary-and-olive-oil rolls are simply the best. I just came from there so upset I went right for my computer to write this. My elderly mother loves Pecan Rolls. By far her favorite. I have bought them there before. My mothers only criticism is the lack of Pecans on the top. At most there is 2-3. I politely asked if there was any way she could add a few AND I would be happy to pay the additional cost. Her reply was. NO! We cant get into modify our pastry. I then explained how they were for my Mom and it is her favorite part of the pastry. She rudely said I could go to the supermarket and add them myself. I was taken back by this comment. I said if I wanted to do that I should probably just make them myself to which she said in a cocky manner thats a great idea. What a lousy feeling I felt. I will never go back. She made it that way, Panera is much better which is now up the street and very pleasant management and staff. read more

Their new location isn't great but that is more than compensated for by their recently expanded business hours. Now they close only Mondays and Tuesdays. The customer service also is a great feature. I drove by this place dozens of times before its sign promising "artisan bread" finally piqued my interest enough to give it a try. I'm actually really glad I did. Having spent a lot of time as a kid growing up in East Boston (when it was still a predominantly Italian and Irish community), one of the things I missed most in living up here in northern Essex County was the really great bread that most of Eastie's neighborhood bakeries offered. Well, happily Annarosa's finally came to the rescue! I usually stop in several times weekly to pick up one or two of their delicious mini-French rolls. But, whenever I can manage to forget about a sprawling waistline and unruly blood sugar, I have to go for the baguette, which is really, really exceptional. With wonderful flavor and texture and a crust brawny enough to provide a decent workout for your jaw muscles, this definitely aint a Parker House roll. You just can't get bread like this at other bakeries in the Newburyport area. But great bread isn't the only attraction here. Jane's pastry creations that I've sampled so far have proven truly addictive. First it was a juggernaut obsession with the fantastic pecan sticky buns. (Definitely not a good thing for a weak-willed diabetic.) And just recently, on a late afternoon visit when most of their goods had already sold out, I had to reluctantly settle for the sole surviving pastry in the case, an apple turnover. Having never been a big fan of turnovers, I was kind of amazed at just how good these things were. So good, in fact, I'm pretty sure they've now usurped first place as the dietary monkey on my back. read more
