My friend used to come to this restaurant as a child with her family so she wanted to share some of her favorite dishes with us. There was a wide selection of food and drinks all reasonably priced. I've honestly never had Indian food, so I have nothing to compare it to. The potato pancake dish was my favorite but I also enjoyed the sample platter as it had a good variety of dishes/flavors.

This was my first time here and I enjoyed what I had, however it was difficult for me not knowing what each item was. Luckily I had friends with me that were knowledgeable. The food was tasty, but the portions felt small. I guess you had an option between naan and roti but I wasn't offered that. The lassi was smooth. The other offerings we tried were good, but I don't know if I'd come back because I don't know what they are. It would be nice if they had descriptions.

Annapurna is a hidden gem for anyone who loves authentic Indian vegetarian food, especially South Indian specialties. The flavors here are bold, fresh, and comforting, making it a go-to spot for a delicious, satisfying meal. The Food - Flavorful, Authentic & Packed with Spice Must-Try Dishes: Dosas - Perfectly crisp and golden on the outside, soft on the inside. The Masala Dosa is a must-try, filled with spiced potatoes and served with coconut chutney and sambar. Sambar & Rasam - Their sambar is rich, tangy, and just the right level of spicy, while the rasam is warm, peppery, and great for a comforting start to the meal. Puris & Chole - Light, puffy, and pairs so well with their flavorful chickpea curry. Paneer Curries - If you love paneer, they have fantastic creamy, spiced curries that pair perfectly with their fresh naan or rice. Curd Rice & Lemon Rice - Classic South Indian comfort food. The curd rice is cooling and lightly spiced, while the lemon rice is bright, tangy, and full of flavor. Why I Love Annapurna: Authentic flavors that taste homemade Great variety of both North & South Indian dishes Lots of vegetarian & vegan-friendly options Affordable, generous portions Can get busy, so be prepared to wait during peak times Spice levels can vary--if you don't like heat, ask for mild! Final Thoughts: If you're looking for flavorful, authentic vegetarian Indian food, Annapurna is a must-visit. Whether you're in the mood for crispy dosas, hearty curries, or comforting South Indian specialties, this place delivers every time. Can't wait to go back!

If you're looking for vegetarian food with subtle hints of authentic Indian spices this is the place. I got these chana masala with pooris and the portions were really good. Very quick service and all ethnic food.

One of the oldest restaurants on this strip. Whenever I visit Chicago, I stop by here for some pure vegetarian Indian cuisine. The place has moved a couple of times and now on the corner with more seating than before. It's not fancy. But it's clean. You order at the counter and pay and then they call out your number and you pick up your food. The prices are reasonable. The food comes in disposable plates and you have plastic utensils. We ordered a bunch of stuff. The bhel puri, pani puri, dosas, idli, chole bhature and chai. The food came out fresh. Everything was made to order and you could tell. The bhel puri and pani puri were refreshing and tasty. The dosas were hot and crispy and came with the requisite chutneys and sambhar and everything tasted good. The chole bhature was well balanced in spices and oil and the bhature wasn't too oily like sometimes can happen. If you are looking for pure vegetarian south and north Indian cuisine, and just some snacky stuff to have a quick meal, I would recommend Annapurna.

Cute corner place with lots of street food options! The cheese masala dosa was huge but yummy with potatos in the center. Also got the pani puri that they ask if for here or table. I misunderstood and said for here as to dine in but for here is they'll make for you on the spot so that did feel rushed but great flavor. The spicy sauce had a nice kick to it. The dahi chaat was really flavor too! I didn't love the sugarcane juice. It had a stronger ginger taste to it and didn't taste authentic. Wouldn't get again.

Had some good food at yet another Indian restaurant on Devon Avenue. It's one that's all vegetarian. Annapurna has a lot to choose from. Get dosas and lots more. The prices are kind of high but are pretty okay for this kind of thing. A good place for getting something authentic. It's a pretty casual business. There's nothing at all fancy about it. Counter service so it's order at the front. The inside is kind of like both a market and a restaurant. It seems the most popular things are dosas. They have lots of these. All vegetarian of course. It's about $12 or so each. Crappy prices but these are big. They can't even fit on plates. Best so far is the Mysore Masala Dosa. This had the classic pungent spiciness. Be sure not to miss us among the many places on Devon Avenue. It's kind of like a market and restaurant. There's so much to get for vegans and vegetarians.

Falooda
Kirthi D.

I really wish the place was cleaner. The restroom was disgusting and there was no soap. It made me scared to order anything. I had already bought a falooda before I saw the restroom. Please clean it. I've seen numerous other reviews about it. And I don't see another employee restroom, so the idea of employees using a disgusting restroom and not even washing their hands with soap is abhorrent. The falooda was yummy. I really liked the rose ice cream and milk. Noodles were raw though.

chai, Mango Lassi

This is a great shop to visit for snacks and sweets. I often end up here with friends whenever we're in the area, just to get something quick to eat or enjoy a nice mango lassi or chai. They also have a pretty decent lunch special. The food doesn't necessarily blow me away, but it's good and they have lots of menu options, so I can try something new every time. I'm glad it's there and I hope to be back again some time soon!

It's a nice clean & tidy place. Staff is very co-operative. I tried Masala dosa it was awesome really loved it they also offer me a free cup of kheer which was awesome. Will go there again very soon!

Idli Chaat - looks great, very thick and monotonous!

Review is for the pani puri only. It was good but what made it extraordinary was they actually made and served one by one like in India.

Most of the reviews recommended the enchiladas and we ordered a variety of them. The Enchiladas Poblanos stuffed with chicken and cheese. The poblano sauce was rich and smoky. We also had the Enchiladas Morita. They were filled with shrimp and cheese. It was so flavorful and the morita chile added so much flavor. Each dish was served with a side jicama salad. Guys, why was I waiting an additional twenty minutes for food when nobody was in this restaurant? I hate when a restaurant draaaaaaags without giving any reasons. Thali shops have literal fast food. Not in the American sense but the foods are as simple as crepes (dosa) served with chutney. The other items would need more time. Curries, biriyani, etc Ordered an onion dosa and a masala dosa. Texture was different from what I'm accustomed to eating. But I'm wanting something similar to South Indian style. The onion dosa contained what looked like a full, medium sized onion. In Southie style it should be pan fried till brown, sometimes incorporated into the dosa or stuffed inside, this was barely translucent. Didn't slap. The masala dosa was mid. Didn't touch much. Hate throwing away food but.. Not wasting the stomach on barely good. Something about the texture of the dosa wasn't... It just wasn't good. One and done. If a restaurant offers dosa, it's gotta be great. Maybe their other foods are better?

We are lucky to have a wide range of cuisine options near our place in Andersonville, and now we can add Turkish-Georgian fusion to our regular rotation. We had a wonderful meal there--I took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu and ordered cioppino. Half the time I order seafood in a restaurant, I end up with rubbery shrimp and tasteless fish. Not at Oda. Their seafood stew was filled with great stuff. My wife had tokat chicken, which she also enjoyed. The humus, Khachapuri, salad and dessert flight were also excellent. It would be fun to go there with a group. It's an ideal place for a shared-plate night out with friends. But there is one thing--like most restaurants in the city, the tables are close together, which is totally fine. We're not looking for Applebee's-type table separation when we go out. Even when you get a table a few inches between two others, it takes about 30 seconds to isolate your own conversation and enjoy your meal, unless you're next to a table where the diners are essentially yelling at each other. I'm not talking about a couple fighting about money or a bunch of 30-somethings getting rowdy on Moscow mules and umami burgers during a night out without their kids. I'm talking about two people yelling--in a friendly way--about the most mundane subject of all: their coworkers. We noticed as soon as we sat down but by the time we considered asking to be moved, the three tables nearby were filled. No big deal. It was kind of entertaining, in an eardrum-splitting way. Their conversation was shockingly loud. And not just the statements, like "SHE THINKS SHE'S IN LINE FOR HIS JOB," but also the brief conversational acknowledgements, like "YEAH! FOR SURE!" It was like sitting next to dueling car alarms. If you're familiar with Pee-Wee's Playhouse, picture the obnoxious salesman who loudly blah-blah-blahs his way to a quickly slammed door, courtesy of Mr. Herman, but two of them whose faces are two feet apart. And we had no door to slam. All that being said, this isn't a knock on the restaurant at all. And since Oda is so close and so good, we'll be back. And hopefully by then, Josh from accounting figures out how to use Smartsheet--"RIGHT? IT'S RIDICULOUS!"--so if we do end up next to the Decibel Duo, we'll have a new workplace dilemma to listen to.
