I've bought three cars here. The cars are great! The sales people and finance people are great. The service department is awful. It literally takes all day to get an oil change. Minor repairs cost thousands of dollars. One honest service person suggested I go elsewhere for a repair because (a) it's cheaper and (b) the part was on back order anyway. After my service plan expired I went to Jiffy Lube. When they went to rotate the tires, they found that the Annapolis Subaru people cross threaded a lug nut. If I had gotten a flat tire, I wouldn't have been able to change the tire. Since this was a Wilderness Forester I use for overlanding, I could have been stranded in the backcountry. Plus it was expensive to repair. DON'T GET A SERVICE PLAN AND DON'T USE THE ANNAPOLIS SUBARU SERVICE DEPARTMENT. read more

My experience was great! Michelle P. was my salesperson and she was awesome. The dealership gave us 4hours to take the vehicle to be looked at by a mechanic eventhough it was inspected. When we returned we never felt any pressure from Michelle and she was straightfoward without having to haggle a fair price. The worst experience ever with the service department. Most of the representatives are rude and will not go the extra mile to help any customers. I just had my car serviced and three days later the check engine and eye sight lights came on. I have not put fuel in the car and only drove short distances. When I called to see if I could bring the car in for a diagnostic, the customer representative was rude and would not try to help in any way. She noted that she is totally booked for the week and could not see me until next week. I don't ever remember the service department being as unfriendly. read more

Not happy with the service department here. They don't seem to want to go an "extra mile" to help customers. Brought my car here for service on the stereo and due to it being covered by a purchased warranty - that wasn't good at response - they gave up! Not a good way to treat a customer. Looks like we'll have to go to a better Subaru service center out of our way. This car has been serviced at the Annapolis location for it's entirety AND it's a known issue with the stereo - guess going above and beyond the regular daily jobs is too much to ask of this service department. No matter what the service is, you will always see a $40 charge for; nothing tied to anything that was used, if anything at all. Bet every bill has $40 charge on it, but no idea what was used. Take one paper towel, $40. One squirt of grease, $40. Wash your hands w/ soap, $40. Worst dealership that I have dealt with for service in the 15 years that I have owned my vehicle. The Annapolis Subaru service center has extortionate prices for basic service and repairs. I was recently quoted over $450 to have the rear brake pads on my 2019 Subaru Forester replaced. For reference, replacing brake pads is ~$50 in parts if you buy premium pads and less than an hour in labor. My car was in the shop for an oil change when they called and asked me if I wanted them to install the new pads for that price. I think they are counting on people thinking they have to have it done immediately by Annapolis Subaru. Thankfully I was aware enough in the moment to turn down the brake pad replacement. I do not trust this dealership to offer fair prices on basic services for your Subaru. read more

I came here to test drive a used Mazda CX-5 and ended up testing a couple Subaru Outbacks and fell in love with them right away! The staff at Annapolis Subaru, especially Helen Appel, were incredibly friendly and genuinely cared about finding the right vehicle for ME. I did not feel any pressure at this dealership; everyone was matter-of-fact about costs, conditions and what to expect next. They allowed me to take the model I wanted to a third-party mechanic for an inspection. Overall the car was in great shape but two minor things came up and when I presented the mechanic's findings, Annapolis Subaru swiftly sent the car to their maintenance team (thank you Ryan Crawford!!). I want to give a special shout-out to Helen Appel. I had been to 3 other dealerships along my car buying journey and she was far and away the best sales rep I worked with! She knows her stuff, and she doesn't blow smoke up your a** when she doesn't know the answer -- she finds the right answer for you. She was prepared every step of the way -- preparing documents, making sure the tags and keys were ready before test drives, and even offering to meet off hours to drop off my keys. There are lots of pauses for finance, credit checks, etc., and Helen was so pleasant to chat with during those moments. I expected to walk away with a car, but I'm also walking away with a new friend! Bob Carroll from finance was also a joy to work with. He was friendly, clear and efficient about all of the administrative items and he was very informative and not too pushy about the add-ons (warranty, paint protection, etc.). The sales rep OTTIE didn't rush me at all when I started to ask about other options after my test drive. During my stay in the dealership I met the sales manager, Ryan and the general manager Billy. At no time did I feel pressured. While there, I learned that the dealership is family owned and they take wonderful care of their employees as well as give back to the community. Subaru also donates an astronomical amount to SPCA (near and dear to my heart). OTTIE IS AWESOME. Knowledgeable and cool. My mom was co-signing wiry me and she said how nice the whole experience was. I wanted to downgrade to a smaller car/SUV but wanted all-wheel drive (AWD) and my search led me to Subaru. I had never really considered myself to be a "Subaru" person but I wanted to keep the price below $25K so my car payments would be more manageable. I walked into the dealership on a whim one fine Monday and was warmly greeted by Erica. I had no timeline for the purchase of the car so I really just wanted to test drive to see if the car was even worth considering. The car handles pretty well and Erica and I had a nice chat while she detailed some of the safety features and accessories I could get for the car if I decided to buy. She even went over some of the pros and cons for buying vs. leasing which was really helpful. I told her I needed some time to think things over and would let her know in about 48hours. I went back to the dealership a week later and during this time, Erica and I were corresponding via e-mail. She wasn't pushy as car salespeople tend to be and took the time to answer my numerous questions (i.e. What the heck are paddle shifters?) Anyway, I picked up the car about two weeks after my initial visit and the process (financing, warranties etc.), though a bit tiresome went relatively quickly. I have owned nothing but Subaru vehicles since 1985. I have purchased my last four or five from this dealership and this is where I go for my maintenance work. I give the sales department a solid five stars. They are excellent; they are not high pressure sales people and provide honest advice and deals on a purchase. It does help to have done your homework before going in, such as knowing the value of a trade in vehicle if you have one. The maintenance department is more along three-and a half to four stars. I usually get reliable and honest service, but there have been a couple of times over the years I have been dissatisfied when I believed I was being hustled for unnecessary repairs and replacements. However, this is an uncommon occurrence. The maintenance department is well run and makes timely repairs. Overall, I highly recommend this dealership. read more

Family member bought a used car that just barely out of warranty cost him $2000 out of pocket for repairs, left him stranded in the snow, and was basically not safe. The original 6 year old battery was still in the car and the oil was dirty among other issues. Multiple attempts to help him recoup some of the cost that could have been avoided went unanswered by the used car dept. They technically didn't have to do anything to make amends and therefore did not. The service dept. screwed up but they didn't care. There are experts out there who will evaluate a used car before purchase for a nominal amount of money- I wish we had known that before he purchased this car. read more

I want to give a big shout to Jason and the service team. My 2012 Forester had a good number of issues and they worked through all of them. When I picked up the car and drove it home the check engine light came on. Came back and was given a loaner. I suspect they were folks on a mission troubleshooting the problem. Seems a bit of carbon fell down in the cylinder and was causing the misfiring. Got my car back and it runs smooth as silk. Purchased a used vehicle from this dealership on 8/7/2017. Found the vehicle I was interested online and reached out to the dealership to find out if it was available. Ended up speaking with Marissa, the Internet Sales Manager. She was very friendly and informative, so I decided to come out that day to view the vehicle. After arriving to the dealership, I could tell they were short staffed. I later learned that many employees were on vacation. However, you wouldn't really be able to tell because I never had to wait long nor did I ever feel rushed. In fact, purchasing this vehicle took the least amount of time in my experience (and I've purchased 7 cars in the past 5 years). This is mainly because of the sales/leasing associate Sonja. Definitely recommend you request Sonja when you visit this dealership. Despite being short staffed and having to multi-task a bit between clients, I always felt as if she made herself 100% available. It was a used, manual vehicle and Sonja showed a lot of patience while I got used to driving manual again, and even offered some pointers. (Thanks Sonja!) I never felt pressured to buy the vehicle after the test drive. Financing went very smoothly as well. The gentleman was very friendly and efficient. Explained the options clearly. (sorry I didn't catch your name) Lastly, even though it was past closing, Sonja made sure our vehicle was detailed and quickly took the car out to refill it with gas (something I've never had done when purhcasing a used vehicle). All in all, this was the greatest experience I've had when purhcasing a vehicle. Quick and friendly. Although this was a used vehicle (of an alternate brand [gasp]), I was treated with a lot of respect and enjoyed the atmosphere at this dealership. Now that the car is in the Audi shop, they have changed their tune. The audi guy said that after talking with Annapolis Subaru, they will not pay for the full diagnostic of the electrical problem, which is slightly more complicated than anticipated. I was unable to reach Mike by phone, and he still has not given me his email. of course, I cant even read the contract because it's at home and I'm at work- and they wouldn't just sent me a copy when I asked the first time, so I had to email the sales person to ask for a copy. I can't even register the car because It wont pass DC inspection without headlights, which now they say they will not fix.. read more

Annapolis Subaru is a great place to "buy" a car. Purchased my first ever new Subaru (Outback) a couple of years ago. The sales staff was excellent and negotiating a good deal was easy. The service department, however, is a another matter. Just bringing it in for oil changes, I was subjected to high pressure to add additional, unnecessary services (inspections, really) at outrageous costs. The oil change alone was $49.00. Other checks - which are free at most other shops - and perhaps a rotation and extra fluid/filter/adjustment services, costs anywhere from $150 to $400. This, on a premium car less than 3 years old. And worse, the work was not always done and I would be back within a week or two getting something fixed that was supposedly checked. Again, an awesome place to buy a car (consistent w/ almost all reviews here), and I will likely buy there again, but take your Subaru for service to one of the good, reputable independent shops in the area and save yourself lots of $$ read more

This dealership is very dishonest, and does not hesitate to cheat their customers. I have bought a brand new vehicle from them, which I got financed through Subaru. Needles to say, they have made tons of money on the deal, and yet they had the need to continue ripping me off every chance they had. Their service department charges absurd amounts of money for service and recommends service that does not need to be done. After being cheated one too many times, I have found an honest shop in my area. Have not been to the dealer in over 5 years, while servicing my car elsewhere. Great Service! I am really impressed with this dealership for several reasons. They have Military VIP Program. If you have orders or a valid ID they have a program for you to get the car at wholesale. This is their no haggle military deal as a "Thank You" for serving our country. "Furry Co-pilots are welcomed" stickers on the door definitely indicate that this is a pet friendly dealership. I would have never thought to bring a dog out car shopping, but apparently this Subaru dealer is pet friendly. As you can see, a lot of their vehicles are designed to transport your fuzzy friends. That's awesome...it makes you want to get a dog if you don't already have one. Bob was the sales rep that worked with me. He explained in excruciating detail about the cars and how they were designed. He was very respectful to me and wasn't pushy at all. He was very patient with me and answered all of my nit picky questions about the cars. I would have never checked them out if it weren't for a friend's recommendation. I'm really glad I did because I walked out of there with a brand new one well below my budget. read more

Their service department doesn't answer their phones, so don't expect to get anyone on the line if you have a problem/question. I called from 9am to 1:15 every hour and never got a human being. I got on the service department's website and managed to chat with someone, whom I told about my issue and that I needed to ask a person for help about whether or not to tow my car to the dealership. They said they would relay my issue and I'd get a phone call. Two-three hours later I emailed the agent back to tell her I hadn't received a call back. Awhile later she apologized and said she's getting someone. I was going to give 1 star, but I'm giving 2 because someone DID call (an hour before my appointment) and 'seemed' to care about my issue, which was nice, but when I arrived for my appointment, there were no notes in the system and had to repeat the issue to the desk person who could care less about the issues I described. I'm not bringing my Subaru to them for service ever again. When sitting in the waiting room, I could hear the service phones ringing and ringing, not being answered. Very dishonest sales department. I had a trade in trade up offer that was declined claiming there was a major accident not shown on the car fax. Their service department previously performed a state inspection and their body shop said there was no major damage or repairs performed. Brought in a car with less than 25k miles and was offered about half of Kelly blue book fair value. Had an appointment that was not honored. Customer service was terrible. I decided to take my car to Annapolis because it's closer to my house. This was my first service visit and I wasn't very happy. I spent $107 for an oil change and that's all I got. When I asked the service advisor for a check list and how much life do I have on my tires, she said we don't check that unless you ask. What kind of service do you guys run? You should go over every ticket with the customer to build value in what you do.I like taking care of my vehicle and I don't mind spending money to keep it well maintained.I also asked for them NOT to wash my car because I just got it detailed, but they still washed it and it came out with water all over it. I brought my car in for service for an issue I was having with my driver's side window and the service advisor I dealt with tried to tell me I needed $2500 on my front and rear axle. I felt like I was being hustled for unnecessary work due to the techs only having my car about 10 minutes before I was told about the pricey work my car allegedly needed. I only bring my car here for work that may involve dealer-only parts or recalls. I purchased my first Subaru in 2014. I found Annapolis Subaru for my maintenance after being unimpressed with another location. Annapolis Subaru has always been accommodating, polite, efficient. This week they went beyond. My schedule was chaotic as my father and daughter both needed me and I kept changing my appointment as my schedule evolved. Doug Wright, Service Manager, kept up with my changes, even adding some humor to this predicament. The staff was able to work me in and provide their stellar service. I've brought my Subaru here several times and they are just ok. Service is done in a timely manner and everyone is pleasant, but for the prices they charge I expect more than just ok. They don't seem to do any type of inspection of the vehicle. Every other service center I've been to gives me an inspection checklist with notes on my tire treads and battery life. I recently took my car in for a recall and was told they would have a rental car available for me. (No loaner cars we're available because they have so many airbag recalls) Upon arrival they told me their shuttle would take me to the the rental place and pick me up when I drop the rental off. Why didn't they have the rental at Subaru. I've been to other service centers (that charge a lot less), that had the rental their waiting for me. This Subaru service center is way over priced for what they offer. read more

Made a 345 appointment today with Ramon to test drive the Outback and Forester. My husband drove 40 minutes to come meet me. Came at 345 and sat in the waiting for 30 min. Receptionist had no idea where he was, asked if we would like a call back. No other sales people helped us despite playing on their smart phones and walking by us multiple times. My experience was 2/5 stars. Pros: The complementary shuttle was a very nice and convenient touch, and the gentleman driving could not have been nicer. I had to be taken to/from the Academy and he was very flexible with dropping me off outside the Gate. Prompt pick-up as well. Cons: The service department was impossible to reach. I reached out to them via email (as requested for recall maintenance) to no response. When I followed up with a phone call, it took a few times to get through. I called again to confirm my appointment and no one picked up. Additionally, I let them know I needed the return shuttle pick-up. Since the pick-up service stops at 4:00pm, I started to call around 3:00pm to arrange for the pick-up service even if my car wasn't yet ready. So many phone calls, and no answer. I finally had to call Sales and ask them to patch me through to Service. I was a bit disappointed to find out that my bill for the oil change was $73. I specifically asked the girl that morning for the price of the oil change and she said $52. That was not something I would have moved forward with at that price. I would return for recall work, but not for any other sort of maintenance. read more
