The path to the Falls mostly uphill but very doable

While in the area around Helen, GA. we decided to explore the area and stumbled on to Anna Ruby Falls - the admission is now $5 per person and is collected prior to reaching the parking lot, gift shop and trail entrance. We did a quick tour of the gift shop and I of course purchased a refrigerator magnet for the RV and also made a donation to the park to further the children's educational programs. The head of the trail looks okay the incline looks manageable and the pavement is smooth and plenty wide enough to pass fellow hikers the sign says .4 miles to the falls so we headed out. The incline gradually increases as you pass the halfway point but l'd still consider it a moderate hike and there are several spots along the way with benches if you need a break, we didn't stop but we did notice a few people taking a rest. Once you reach the cross over bridge you're home free although the incline increases somewhat just remember once you reach the falls there will be plenty of time to take a break before heading back down which is much easier as you'd expect but it does present a slip hazard in some spots where the pavement is wet so l recommend wearing suitable footwear. The falls are absolutely gorgeous and today there was plenty of water coming over the top, the wooden deck provides a great vantage point to take photos and there are benches to sit and enjoy the view before heading back down. All in all it's worth the walk and you'll be glad you took the challenge and likely will have some memories that will last a lifetime....

Great national park. Walk to the falls was only 0.4 miles however it is a bit of a steep go. But they do have benches along the way so you van take breaks. FYI your cell phone will most likely not work in the park so be prepared for that. Gift shop has very reasonable prices compared to in town prices. So we loaded up here. Very helpful staff. Great place for a hike or picnic. Get here early when we left around 1pm the line of cars coming in.

Went here on a suggestion of the Helen visitor center. The drive was maybe 15 minutes outside of Helen. You pass through 2 feet stations, if you're going to the falls you only pay at the second which is ran by NPS. The fee is $5 per adult I believe. There's a gift shop near the parking lot. The hike is about .4 or .5 miles, mostly uphill, but for the most part easy. There are a few spots that's a steeper incline. Once you get there though the views are amazing, it's a great sight to see. Make sure you wear comfortable hiking shoes. The gift shop has bathrooms, and some souvenirs for everyone. The NPS staff is nice and friendly.

Visiting Helen, Georgia we ended up at Anna Ruby Falls. We had a fabulous time walking up to the falls, and even walking back. The walk path is completely paved and is very easy for even people who have mobility concerns. The view all along our walk was absolutely breathtaking, and even the weather cooperated with beautiful blue skies, although it was nice and shady among the trees and very comfortable weatherwise. The view at the top of Anna Ruby Falls was absolutely stunning, and we spent some quality time on the benches along the walk where you could rest and enjoy nature at its best! I truly recommend visiting Anna Ruby, Falls, just outside of Helen, Georgia on your next visit this way. OH... and don't forget your camera! Safe travels

Beautiful hike and stunning waterfall. We came on a rainy day so there weren't many people around. The waterfalls had a decent amount of flow but I'd love to see this in other seasons. There's a beautiful viewing platform at the bottom of the falls. The hike is a little steep in parts but it's well maintained and short. There's a shop at the bottom where the parking lot is with shirts & your typical merchandise you'd see at a park like this. Don't expect cell service as there is absolutely zero. Disconnect and enjoy!

If you are in this area you must come to Anna Ruby Falls. It's located less than 15 minutes from Helen and there is a charge of $5 per adult to enter. There is a nice visitor center with gift shop, restrooms and drink and snack machines. When you arrive you will notice no cell service so be prepared. The trail to the Falls is only .4 miles long and is paved. However it rises 225 feet in that distance and it's all uphill to the Falls. It requires a medium level of exertion so it isn't easy. I wouldn't want to do it in warm weather or after eating a big meal. Of course the walk down afterward is much more pleasant. The path is beautiful. You will be under plenty of shade between the hill tops on both sides and the very tall trees. Also the discharged water from the Falls form a stream right besides the path. Many nice photo opportunities are on the path. When you get to the top seeing the Falls make the climb worth it. At the Falls are two observation platforms to stand on and take pics. There are actually two Falls that combine into the stream below. The tallest one on the left is 150 feet above the observation platform. On the day of my visit on a weekday in November the crowd size was very manageable. I was told that on summer weekends they have many more people come and it gets crowded. Keep that in mind. Finally there are no facilities up at the Falls. No restrooms or drinkable water. I'm very glad I visited Anna Ruby Falls. It is a beautiful place.

This site is federally owned, but is embedded in the state park. I was able to get through the state park without paying for that, and a separate, per-person charge is issued at the gates for this area. Fortunately, a national parks pass gets you out of this fee. The parking area is small and fills easily, but there is a lot of turnover. A visitor center there has a deck overlooking a pool which supposedly has trout (not visible to me), and from there a moderate uphill paved walk leads to the falls. The viewing platforms don't really grant that great of a view of the falls; you're not that close. The downstream area is arguably more interesting. It's nice forest, but there's a lot of places in the Appalachian Mountains where you can find perfectly nice waterfalls that don't have quite the same degree of hassle or cost attached to them that this one does. So for me, it's a nice natural site, but I'd only go if I was already in this area. The whole walk was less than an hour.

This hike is beautiful and the waterfalls are amazing. It's not a long hike to the top, less than a half of a mile each way. It is paved the entire way but it is steep in certain spots. There are some benches along the way. There are a few viewing spots at the top for taking pictures and admiring the view. We took our dog and he did fine.

Very slow paced walk with beautiful views and sitting benches throughout the path to the top of the waterfall. There footbridges and nature all around. The path is very puppy friendly and a medium accessibly path. It was paved well and maintained however, there were some sticks scattered on some walkways which made it difficult to just continue at a mid pace. The hills were not horribly inclined except for a limited few and there was benches at every point nearby the large inclines to provide rest. The path was accessible and wide enough for a stroller or pedestrians with a dog and an accessible device or walker to pass in tandem with ease. The walk is absolutely worth the reward of the peace and tranquility of the end of the journey.

If you're in the area this is a great little walk. It was about two miles total - some of the hike was blocked off so we couldn't go to top of the hike close to the waterfalls. It costs $5 per person to enter, they take cash or credit card at the gift shop. The gift shop is a nice area and Brenda the clerk was so friendly. We talked about dogs and life for a bit. Such a sweet person. Along the hike you'll see beautiful streams and little waterfalls. There are also restrooms at the start of the trail. Dog friendly. We really enjoyed this. I'd say it was about 45 min only because we stopped a few times along the trails.

If you looking for a day trip to go to in GA, this place is for you. This place is located in Helena, GA. You drive passed the city of Helen, Georgia. It is about 20-25 minutes from Main Street. The hike in Anna Ruby Fall isn't long. The hiking trail is about 30 minutes, depending on how fast you walk and spend time around the area. It is very easy to walk up to Anna Ruby Fall. It is gorgeous. It's worth seeing if you are visiting. They also have a little gift shop by the entrance. I picked up waterproof stickers and a postcard. It was inexpensive.

Well the wife is out of town and then the boy will play? LOL…read more When I mean play, I mean get the opportunity to do somethings that I have been meaning to do. I wanted to go back to hiking paths and climbing mountains, like i used to do when I lived in the Adirondack Mountains. Getting here was a bit of a challenge. The GPS was a little off, but following the car in front t of me helps a lot. They looked like a bunch of hikers due to the stickers all over their car... Arrival to the parking lot was all gravel. The trailhead had some signage which was incredibly helpful. I took several pictures of the map and the direction I wanted to go. Seeing on a map and reality are two different things. At least I had some marker points to refer and go by. Down over the bridge you are met with a steady uphill climb some switchbacks and some rocky terrains to go over. The first Awesome fixture was the Fatman Squeeze. A hulking boulder with some tight side paths to go up on both sides end up at the same place. Then venturing on to the gravel path which takes you to the cell towers. Once past that the. Looking for the sign that leads you to the overlook. There it was. Beautiful over look to the mountains in the area.since we were facing the south the real mountains could not be seen. Couple of things to share, need to remind people that the canopy can be stuffy and humid. Be prepared to sweat, a LOT. Isn't that why you came? To overcome this mountain challenge??! Bring water. If your dog is strong enough to climb, other than that this can be challenging for their paws and your back, if you have to carry. Make sure your shoes are tied on tight. There are a lot of roots and loose rocks that can make a day go bad if you are not paying attention. Tightly tied shoes will alleviate the shift in the ground. Most importantly. Take your time, pause, reflect. Love, appreciate. Sweat. Have a good time...

It also didn't help that my friend was waiting at the west loop trail and I was near Allatoona dam. After getting myself situated, parking at the lot located off of komatsu drive se (access komatsu via E. Main Street right off of 75), we made our way up the west loop trail to get to the David G. Archer overlook. Don't get me wrong, there are miles of trails here at pine mountain, but from the parking lot to the overlook is just under 2 miles. It breaks down from the parking lot as follows (taken from the pine mountain Rec area trail system map): West trail head/parking to west loop - 0.18 mi West loop to summit overlook- 1.57 mi Summit overlook to David G. Archer summit - 0.16 mi The view at the top gives you a beautiful look at expansive greenery, with Allatoona lake visible (although more visible in the fall). During clear days you're able to see Atlanta and its skyline in the distance (keep in mind Atlanta is easily less than 50 miles away. From here, we turned around and went back to our cars, although if you want, you can continue on past the summit and hike down to the East trail. Trails are marked very well with blazes so you have to try to get lost (see photos for blaze colors). There's forest, outcrops, easy and huff/puff portions of the trails, but I don't think it's a hard hike by any means. Pet friendly hike that leads to a great view with as much trail as you're interested in challenging. Do yourself a favor and give pine mountain (not to be confused with pine mountain near Columbus, GA) a chance! I know I'll be back!

A nice moderate trail deep in the woods, which I liked because the shade kept everything a little cooler. The trail is very easy to follow and not overly long. Caution needs to be taken as there are many tree roots extending above the ground and could easily cause a trip. Careful is key. A rise in elevation of approximately 300 feet over half a mile makes it a decent cardio walk. With many different trees, plants and flowers along the way. All culminating with a beautiful waterfall. Note: depending on the season and amount of rain will determine the amount of water coming over the falls. Two minor items that need to be corrected. 1. Yelp has the wrong address (or pin drop) I'm not sure which. Not even close. 6 more miles down a gravel road to be exact. I'll try and fix that. 2. Not one sign or directional indicating you're are heading in the right direction. But other than that a very enjoyable experience.
