We also stopped at Aniche Winery that has stunning views of the river, and a unique, quirky vibe. It's up on the hills of Washington's Columbia River Gorge. Inside, the decor is an eclectic mix of vintage flair, with old typewriters and other antiques scattered throughout the space.

Beautiful view of the Columbia River, friendly, great service, delicious wines, and tasty bites to pair with the wines! AniChe is great for a wine-tasting day trip.

Cute little winery on the Washington side. A good variety of wines from the flight and complimentary snacks pairing. The view is great which is a huge plus. Everyone working there was super friendly.

Perched on a hill overlooking vineyards and the magnificent Columbia River, spending time at AniChe is a must for anyone visiting this area. It's not just wine tasting, it's an experience! The barn with bright red doors is the inside tasting room with lots of intimate Seating areas, party lights, and unique decor. While it's quaint and quirky, the real star is the outdoor seating, and if you are lucky, the gazebo looking out over the river. Buteven the side patio, or Adirondack chairs in front of the barn, and various intimate seating areas sprinkled throughout the grounds are wonderful. So relaxing and peaceful. Now to the wine. It's very different from any wine I have had before; they do blends combining grapes that typically are not put together. For example, the Puck 2020 combines Albariño and tempranillo. For me, they didn't work. The tasting had five wines and the only one that I would order a glass of is the Three Witches, a red blend of French grapes: Mourvèdre, Counoise and Cinsault. Along with the flight, they provided a little tasting dish consisting of a slice of cheese, some dried cranberries and white and dark chocolate. Nice touch. Service is warm and welcoming. And the vineyard dogs add to the charm! I'll definitely be back and will bring friends to relax in the heavenly space they created, sipping a glass of Three Witches. While the wine didn't appeal to my taste buds, I can't deduct a star for that. Wine is very personal so it is not their fault it didn't work for my palette. Everything about the vineyard and experience was wonderful. If you are wine tasting on the Washington side, make reservations and stop here. Or make it your destination.

It was an excellent vineyard for a glass of wine after a day of windsurfing. The host and service were really lovely, and the views and atmosphere were fantastic. It was a little off the beaten path, but I really enjoyed the late afternoon. Would recommend a visit if you get the opportunity.

My friend and I had such a great time. I can't stop talking about it and recommending it to others. I'll be back for sure! We went on a cold and rainy day so I can't wait to experience it in the summer. The staff was very friendly and the wines were very good.

This little winery has it all. Views, a laid back casual vibe and amazing wines. The interior is quirky, the garden is lovely & the staff are super knowledgeable & kind. Can't wait to go back!!!

Nice, somewhat eclectic winery with great views and outdoor seating that takes advantage of that. Nice place to enjoy a bottle of their wine and some food pairings.

Could've sworn I'd reviewed AniChe before, but apparently not. Sorry to have delayed my recommendation for this terrific spot. We live far enough away that it's impractical for us to be wine club members, but any time we're visiting the Gorge, we make it a point to visit. The location is stunning - with the production facility and the outdoor seating looking east down the river below. Couple this with a glass of wine and you have a wonderful place to spend part of an afternoon and to pick up a few bottles to take home. We are primarily red wine drinkers, but in my opinion, the standout here is a white Albariño variety. It's mostly found in Northwest Spain, but was a pleasant surprise to find it being made locally. Unless you cross the river near Portland, there are toll bridges involved in visiting AniChe, but a few bucks extra is well worth it for good wine and glorious views. FYI - if you crossed the river from the city of Hood River, and are headed back towards Portland, taking Rt 14 along the Washington side of the river and either crossing back at the Bridge Of The Gods, or going all the way to I 205 is a great drive.

Absolutely exceptional wines! AniChe Cellars specializes in blends. We opened the 2015 Goat Boy yesterday. It's a blend of Cab, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot. It was spectacular! The best wine I've had in recent memory. We recently enjoyed the less expensive 2017 Inferno made from that year's "smoke kissed" harvest. It was VERY good. I look forward to trying the other four bottles I had shipped to my home. I haven't had the pleasure of visiting the Winery; I live in another state. Wanting to support small businesses during the pandemic, and having met the owner MANY years ago, I decided to take a flyer and chose six bottles of wine, untasted. I'm glad I did. The wines are exceptionally good. BRAVA!

Driving around the area (thankfully I wasn't driving), we stopped here for some beautiful scenery, a few hula hoop attempts (not pretty), and shared a bottle of nice red. Nice bathroom too! If they give tastes, it wasn't obvious. We just bought a bottle and shared it.

I am in love! This place is so warm, welcoming, and both my partner and I felt extremely comfortable enjoying a super positive wine tasting experience.

Ii came here with my girlfriend. She lives out here and I just came because she recommended it. I'm going to be honest I am not a wine person so I can't say anything about the wines because I don't know anything g about them. But what I can tell you it that the view is beautiful and the host is so welcoming. I had a relaxing fine and it was very peaceful. Before dealing we did some hula hu and that was fun.

I don't know of any other Gorge wineries making Albariño, and winemaker/owner Rachael Horn's version is impressive.

Gorgeous scenery, a $20 wine tasting, and the cutest interior with so many plants and eclectic art. Loved bringing my friends here, I'll be back! Love that there is a view of both the Gorge and Mt Hood on a clear day. Reservations recommended for groups.

Loop De Loop is fantastic!!!…read more I stumbled upon Loop De Loop's Four Wind wine while having dinner at Anna's Table (Thank You John Z) in Cannon Beach, OR. Fast forward, we planned a stop at Loop De Loop after hiking Multnomah and Wahkeena Falls. It was one of the best surprises of the whole trip to Oregon. I expected Loop De Loop to be a small, modest vineyard and instead I discovered an absolutely stunning vineyard nestled in the picturesque hills of the Columbia Valley. I opted for the full tasting and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed the breadth and diversity of the wine offerings. And the wine is made organically!!! We actually enjoyed the wine and experience at Loop De Loop more than any vineyard we visited in Williamette Valley. We also tried the cheese plate and tinned fish, which were delicious. The venue has indoor and outdoor seating. I love the decor and art throughout the building. Service was really good. I dont recall the name of the young woman with red hair helping us out, but she was fantastic. This place gets pretty busy so I recommend reservations. Definitely check it out! Even if you're in Portland, it's worth the quick trek into Washington.

We visited in Aug 2025…read more For several years I have wanted to visit the Savage Grace vineyard/ winery along the Columbia River, and finally succeeded; we three visited in July 2025. The wines were the star of our experience. WINE: 5.0. The certified wine expert among us could take only 2 bottles back with her to Japan from the 11 WA and OR wineries we visited during our road trip: one of her choices was a Savage Grace Cabernet Franc. SERVICE: 4.5. Michael Savage was the sole server, and thus we were able to talk directly with the winemaker. We appreciated his unpolished explanations about the style of wines he strives for, and about his vineyards and winery. He also pointed us to a great viewpoint a few minutes away. AMBIANCE: 4.5. We sat outside next to some production equipment; somewhat rustic, and with a nice view of the Columbia Gorge.

Our family visited Savage Grace over a month ago. I wanted to take some time to formulate my…read morereview. Let me start by saying the quality of wine and the view are the only reason I gave it a 2 star review. When we arrived we were fully aware of their 2 bottle purchase policy if you do a tasting. Which you should be aware of if visiting. There was a group of 5 of us, 2 who were prepared to purchase at least 4 bottles and do the tasting, 1 who doesn't drink and wanted to see the views, and 2 designated drivers for 2 cars. First the lady asked if we had reservations which we did not. The place was nearly empty with just one other couple. She then proceeded to say before we start you let's make sure our winery is a good fit for you and then began to interrogate us about those not drinking. She tried to push smaller pours with what they call a designated driver plan for the designated drivers which we declined. Still not seated through an interrogation of our intentions, she pushed the DD plan on our 3rd person who said she felt we weren't going to get seated if she didn't accept. The tasting was super slow and took almost 2 hours. We've visited numerous wineries but this is a first where they tried to push alcohol on the designated driver. The condescending way we were greeted and treated is not worth the ok tasting wine and spectacular views. We will not be back with our next winery excursion in the Hood River area.

Upside down, inside out, right side up - any way you turn it, this wine is fantastic!!!…read more A friend who is a wine club member has been raving about their wine for years, and I finally stopped in for a tasting flight. Every single wine in the flight was good, which is rare. My absolute favorite was the Mourvèdre, a serious red with dark fruit and notes of spice. Complex, yet easily drinkable. Their Mourvèdre blend was also a standout. Upside down Wine is located right on Oak, the main street in Hood River and located right next to the clothing store, Parts and Labour. The name is very subtle over the door so if you aren't intending to go here, you most likely will walk right by. Don't! The very stark, modern interior, which feels a bit sterile, comes alive with warmth from the friendly service and the chatter and laughter of other patrons. You can stand along the long bar, European style, or sit at a high top for two or in comfy chairs in the back. Now that I've had the opportunity to visit the wineries in Hood River and the Gorge multiple times, previous faves no longer hold a candle to some of my new favorites. Could be that my palette has become more refined, who knows? I just know that my top 5 list contains none of my original choices and Upside Down wine is now in the list!
