She did it exactly how I asked and did not see me as having natural hair as a problem. She was also ok with using the products and tools I brought with me. There are a lot of hair braiders in the back of this shop, and at one point someone came in looking for one. She didn't try to steal their customer, which is unusual in the Harlem Hair Braiding game. I give her 4 stars for being such great hair stylist.

Such a shame because I truly liked Jenny…read more This is for the older gentleman with the horrible brows. He is very unfriendly. And I felt very uncomfortable the whole time. He was very slow to curl my hair and he is extremely (understatement) sensitive to movements. Every time I had to scratch my nose or move, he would grill me and talk under his breath. He was most definitely cursing in his language. Also, he gave me Shirley temple curls and I asked him to brush it out and he got annoyed and said "why didn't you tell me before?" Like I'm SOO sorry brushing my hair is such a big deal. I wanted to say something to him but the salon was packed and I know that I would be the crazy one. Won't be going back.

I have…read moretwo salons I use this and another....I prefer this one because it's conveniently located for me but I was disappointed with my last visit. I went in for a simple wash and cut....no styling, nothing fancy. She posts one price in her window and then charges double. Had I gotten extensive service I wouldn't mind but my treatment took less than a half hour and was JUST A HAIRCUT! I don't appreciate being taken advantage of. If a price is posted that's what should be charged. Disappointing. Looks like I'm looking for another salon or just sticking with the other one.

I never give negative reviews for local businesses, but this will be an exception…read more I first went to this business three months ago, and had a great experience. I called in today as a return customer and scheduled an appointment at 10am, for a 2PM slot. I arrived early and the woman who I scheduled an appointment with let somebody else in the chair before me, which I figured was fine since my appointment wasn't for another 15 minutes. That haircut went until 245, when she said, "just give me a minute you'll be next," and then let another woman into the chair. Assuming that she could he running behind schedule and that this person may have been scheduled earlier than me, I waited an additional 30 minutes for her to be finished, and a third person, I assume a friend of hers sat in the chair and began getting helped. In addition, when I arrived, a woman who was getting her hair done mustve had a lot of product in her hair, which the hairdresser did not wash out before straightenting it, which resulted in a thick smoke filling the room. Multiple customers were coughing, and an employee put on a mask, but they did not let the door open, and the product-smoke remained in the room for another 45 minutes. A real shame, as I planned on coming back regularly. Will not be returning now.

I honestly have followed her from her first salon on Flatbush for years. Unfortunately I am currently experiencing terrible hair loss and my edges are very weak- but that's because I made a mistake and went to another salon on Flatbush to get a perm (Desiree happened to be closed at the time I went).. I am currently beating myself up for this decision. I am very confident that my hair will grow back- I have invested in many organic oils/ treatments & will ONLY continue to go to Desiree.
