I was about to put my rescue Charlie down as he nipped one of my dog walkers on the thumb. Charlie had a rough three years before we adopted him. He was beaten by his former owner, who lives on the streets and abuses drugs and alcohol. Cocker Rescue got him off the streets, and we adopted him, not realizing how traumatized he was. I finally decided to take him to Adult Dog Training with Kate and her South Bark Dog Wash staff. I am blown away by how my dogs behave differently now. I took our latest rescue, Lulu, there before I brought Charlie, so Kate trained my dogs and me. My groomer told me yesterday that he NO longer has to muzzle Charlie while he gets groomed. He said that Charlie had turned into this beautiful, loving dog. Charlie has even stopped nipping at my husband's heels and no longer "guards me" when my husband gets home. Thank you Kate and Sheridan for everything, I am literally crying as I write this. Our main concern for our puppy is him pulling his leash during walks and Tonya was able to help our puppy with that before the end of our session. By the end of the session, we could already see a big difference. We still have to keep it up with him and constantly train with him, but my husband and I were already able to see a huge difference. He was entrenched behind two earlier professional attempts at basic training, years of uncontrollable bad behaviors and outbursts with any visitor to our home--he was impossible to appreciate. I had seen our neighbors hire Katie for their pup and asked her to come and give us an opinion of our boy to see if there was any chance of getting the wild one to settle down. Even our last trainer had ended their efforts with the comment: "Good luck with that one." No one could have prepared me. Within 5 minutes she had him wrapped around her little finger trying his very best to please her. Who was this and how could a complete stranger command such attention and respect from the incorrigible wonder? And how I get her to come again and train our dog? Her lifelong experience and knowledge of how to handle canines is extensive. She worked with both my husband and I as a team and within two sessions, I could see a massive change in Trooper's whole personality. From being an arrogant, acting out, rude toddler (his true personae at the time) to a truly enjoyable and loving pet wanting to do what we asked, Katie made it happen. Emmie was happy, healthy, and clean when I picked her up... I will update my review as I use him more, since I just had a customer service issue with my other kennel...
