This place has tons of them, basically all of their products, all on a table right in front of the store. Before even taking a step inside, I had basically filled myself with jams, butters, and pickles! We ended up only buying an empanada on this trip, although I was sorely tempted at filling my entire pantry with their jams and jellies, not to mention their pies... If only we had a cooler with us... Huckleberry Empanada ($6.50) - Their huckleberry jam is the best of the ones I've tried. Other places in Oregon, on the Fruit Loop and off, have a dried fruit kind of taste or lean musty in flavor. This one has full bodied huckleberry flavor that's quite fresh. It may be due to them using a different variety of huckleberry? Anyways, it's filled inside an expertly baked outer crust that holds the filling in well and adds some buttery crisp, pie crust like texture. I really enjoyed my visit to Packer Orchards & Bakery. Out of the 7 or 8 stops we made on the Fruit Loop, this, along with their farm location, ended up being my favorite by far.

I thought they would be the biggest, baddest tent in the market, because after all, they're pedaling donuts here - not knickknacks and arts and crafts! However, their display is rather unassuming with just the one sandwich board sign. As for my rating, I wish I could give them 4.5, maybe 5 stars, but at $2-3 a piece, it's hard for me to give them that extra star. At $2-3, their donuts are not grocery store cheap, but not Portland's Blue Star $3+ too expensive. And I realize this is a farmers market and a small business, but I just feel like $1.25-$1.75 is more appropriate. As for the donuts, they are extrmely good! Unlike Kickstand's poor excuse for donuts, these are light and airy, the appropriate size, and sweet, but not too sweet. The variety and selection are just right. To quote my mother-in-law's text I just received after she stopped by our house on her Vancouver to Boise roadtrip, "We just finished off our to-go donuts.... yum! Definitely got the small town diner feel here, and everything on the menu sounded so good! They also have a specials board inside so make sure to take a look before you make your decision. I finally decided on the south of the border omelette, which also comes with hash browns or potatoes or fruit, and a biscuit or muffin or toast. Such a satisfying and filling meal! The omelette itself was not short on ingredients at all, and I loved the cilantro. The menu did mention homemade salsa but I didn't see any of that on the side or inside. Other than that, the eggs were cooked nicely. I picked the chorizo biscuit on the side and it was so soft and fluffy inside! I also appreciated the amount of options on the kids menu. There was plenty more options than just your standard pancake, bacon, and eggs. Our kids loved the pigs in a blanket which was actually quite big and perfect for our two kids to split. Service was awesome, our server was so kind and even brought out our friend's son's maple bar with a candle because he mentioned it was his birthday. She did it without us even asking which was so sweet! The food came out so quickly too despite the entire restaurant being full. Great experience here at Bette's!

Split the St. Helens Burger, an order of fries, and a side salad with the recommended goat cheese (trust them--it was the right call). The burger was everything you want it to be. A fresh poppy seed bun, a perfectly cooked patty, sweet caramelized onions... and then came the poblano pepper. That little bit of smoky heat tied the whole thing together. Now let's talk about the fries because they deserve their own paragraph. These are, without question, my favorite fries. They arrived hot, crispy, perfectly golden, and had that satisfying crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one. If you're a fry person, these alone are worth the visit. The side salad was fresh and flavorful, and the creamy goat cheese took it from "just a side salad" to something I'd happily order again. It was the perfect balance to all those delicious fries. We've yet to have a bad meal here, and it's one of those places we recommend without hesitation to friends, family, and anyone who asks where to eat.
