Waitress was very attentive. Food was mediocre to me. A bit more on the pricier side.

The food at Angaar is spectacular. They have incorporated infused savory flavors into their food. I get the Navrathan Korma! The colors and spices of their vegetable curry are not only pleasing to the eye, but they are a hit with the taste buds. The service is efficient. I recommend Angaar.

After living in NYC for two years, Angaar was my last meal before moving -- it's a travesty I didn't discover it earlier, because it's some of the best food the UWS has to offer. Good portion sizes for a decent price, and INCREDIBLE flavor across all the dishes. The kabuli naan and tikki masala chicken are to die for. Staff was friendly and helpful the whole visit. Will come back the next time I'm back in the city!!

Went here for lunch and the cauliflower was really good (aloo gobi). Perfect for a cold wintry freezing day. The spices and veggies make it a healthy choice. The rice was not old tasting but fresh! There are just 6 seats downstairs. But there is an upstairs. The pix are from a previous visit. Not sure how they populated.

Excellent service, one suggestion is to have the server ask for spice level. Food wasn't spicy! Tried the palak paneer, butter chicken, garlic naan and dhal makhani. There's seating downstairs and upstairs with one bathroom upstairs.

I would recommend this place if you're in the mood for Indian food and are in the west side. There's not many Indian food places in the neighborhood but this one is great! The ambiance isn't fancy at all. The front patio area feels like a shed and the upstairs dining area is stuffy. But the flavors are great! We often get the paneer makhani as well as the bindi masala (okra) which they cook down dry. The breads are fresh and hot. The service is nice and polite! It's a refreshing restaurant amidst the slew of pizza and pasta that overwhelms the neighborhood.

Vibe: 4/10 Service: 10/10 - originally we were seated near the door which was a bit cold, but they moved us as soon as someone left! We really appreciated that Value: 6/10 Vegetable samosas: 7/10 Tandoori chicken: 7/10 - good, but not enough meat on the bones and didn't have as bold of flavors as other tandoori I've had Chicken tikka masala: 6/10 - good, rich and creamy, but was missing the flavor profile of a true tikka masala. Tasted more like a rich tomato soup Naan: 8.5/10 Overall: 6.93/10 (3.46/5)

We ordered and had food delivered on one of the rainiest Fridays in NYC's history. This Indian food was pure sunshine. Some of the best I have ever had. We kept it simple: butter chicken, a chicken curry, lamb in puréed spinach, garlic naan. Every sauce, every bite...just oh so wonderful. And such perfect light, light rice. Will try to check in to actual restaurant in near future.

Malai Kofta

I was starving and looking for a nice meal. I got it and with great, kind service from Mir. I got the Malai Kofta which has delectable dumplings of vegetables inside it. It was so good. There's a sweetness to it too. I love Indian food without meat and this met that expectation. Lots of sauce. The rice was perfect. Mir recommended the Aloo Prantha, which is naan bread with mashed potatoes inside. It was good, and I'm glad he recommended it. Mir is smiley and kind the whole time. He made my experience wholesome and inviting. Total with tip came to $30. I was so full after. Perfect and very speedy. Mir and another woman came to fill my water a lot---appreciated!

We came here as a part of a party and while I don't have many pictures of the food we had, the food here was absolutely amazing. We had a little bit of everything but I distinctly remember the shrimp and chicken 65 appetizers, and all dishes were tasty in their own ways, and everything tasted very authentic. The service was excellent, and the owners are also extremely friendly and welcoming. You can tell by the wine pour they are generous with those as well. There are a few tables on the main floor but the 2nd floor has much more seating. Their takeout seems really popular, we could see a takeout order being picked up every few minutes for the entire 2ish hours we were there. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant!

Garlic Naan

Good Indian food. I got the palak paneer and it was very simple. I wasn't bowled over by the flavors. It could have been spicier and had a little more oomph. Relatively cheap compared to some other Indian places. But also didn't get as much rice as a normal restaurant it seemed. Nice servers! Sat on the top floor. Not decorated super cute.

Garlic naan - $5.50 for ONE??
Miranda M.

PLEASE stop being so stingy with the portions. I paid $5.50 for ONE piece of naan? And it wasn't even fresh. I had to remind the person that handed me my order that I was supposed to get two sides of rice - one for each dish, as is customary. How much does it take to make rice anyways? 50 cents? C'mon. This place always tries to get away with one rice dish for two people. The amount of chicken in the dishes has decreased as well. I would gladly eat here more often if I felt it was worth the price. Instead, I feel robbed. It's unfortunate because the food is so good. The sauces taste great but omg.. I'm disappointed each time because the portions just get smaller and smaller. Please for the love of god give your customers more food.

Atmosphere (3/5): Right when you walk in, you are welcomed with the aroma of spices is intoxicating. You walk into a tight homey dining space that fits 10 people, connected right to the kitchen. There's some half-outdoor dining available and then a second floor that overlooks the lower floor. The second floor can accommodate upwards of 15 people and the bathroom. Service (5/5): While the staff did not speak English very well, they were extremely welcoming and took the time to get to know me! They served everyone with a warmth and professionalism. I felt like I was a guest in their home. Food: The food was FIRE--there was such depth to the flavors Vegetable Samsoa (4/5): The samosa complemented well with the various dips! I felt like the inside could have been a Garlic Naan (4/5): I would definitely recommend getting 1 order per person as they were not terribly big but very nicely seasoned and soft. I wish they were saltier or had a bit more garlic flavor. Kashmiri Roganjosh (5/5): The lamb chunks were very tender. The curry was seasoned with a punch of flavors and just slightly spicy. I loved every bite. I commend the staff who have to run up and down with our orders!! Overall, very pleasant and delicious meal (and leftovers!)

Top. Butter chicken entree. Bottom chicken curry.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

I believe there are other Indian Accent locations in India, and was excited to try their NYC spot. We went on a weekend evening around 5pm and had a really enjoyable experience overall. Nice ambiance inside, didn't feel overly packed where we were sitting. Service was great for the most part. Shane, our main server, stood out and he was SUPER helpful in walking us through the menu and making thoughtful suggestions. That said, it's definitely a team-service setup, so multiple staff members will assist your table throughout the meal. Everyone had great energy and made the experience feel polished. We did the prix fixe menu and went with 3 courses each across our group of 3. Two of us opted for the "midis" and one went for dessert, but we ended up sharing everything. Even though the portions initially seem small, we were surprisingly full by the end. One important note: go into this with an open mindset. This is not your typical, "generic" Indian food experience - it's much more modern, creative, and experimental. We did a lot of research before deciding what to order, so here's what we got/ordered: Amuse bouche (complimentary): A pumpkin shorba (soup) served in a cute little cup and blue cheese naan. Both were a great start, and we actually asked for more of the shorba. They said they'd bring it, but it never came, which was a bit disappointing, but still appreciated the palate cleanser concept. Appetizers (ordered 3): * Phulka jackfruit: Kind of like a taco - really nice flavor with these crispies on it and a nice sauce. * Kashmiri morel mushrooms: I'm not usually a mushroom person, but this was excellent. Loved the creamy base and overall flavor. * Potato sphere chaat: Probably the weakest of the three. It was more sev than potato, and didn't quite hit for me. Midis (ordered 2): * Yogurt kebab: Very interesting texture with a nice chutney base * Sweet pickle pork: I didn't personally try it, but the other two in my group loved it Mains (ordered 3): * Sweet corn vadai: Really unique and flavorful - one of the standouts * Paneer kofta: Not my favorite; different from what I expected * Chicken tikka meatballs: Surprisingly good! I don't usually love meatballs, but these had a great texture and flavor Accompaniments (ordered 3): * Butter chicken kulcha: Easily my favorite - would come back just for this, but note it can be a little "greasy" * Daal with black garlic naan: The naan was unique with a slightly sweet taste; the daal could've used a bit more depth * Chana masala kulcha: A little spicy but still very flavorful Dessert (ordered 1 + 1 complimentary): * Banana sticky date cake: A lovely, satisfying end to the meal * Makhan malai (complimentary for a birthday in our group): Very airy and unique texture - not really for us personally, but appreciate the team supporting our birthday celebration We skipped drinks even though the menu is extensive - we wanted to focus on the food Overall, I really liked this place. The dishes were a mix - nothing was outright bad (except maybe the makhan malai for our taste), but not everything was a hit either. Still, it's a fun, elevated dining experience with creative takes on Indian cuisine. I'd definitely go back, especially for the butter chicken kulcha. Only real miss was the forgotten re-order of the amuse bouche, but otherwise service and vibes were strong.

A little corner of London magic right here in Hell's Kitchen!…read more If you've ever stood on a rainy London street, desperate for a bowl of proper Northern Indian food, you can stop romanticizing -- Jaz Indian Cuisine on Hell's Kitchen has that exact magic, and it's right here in Manhattan. The star of the show is Jaz herself -- the owner, hostess, and bartender all rolled into one wonderfully warm, charming British woman who somehow makes you feel like you've been a regular for years within thirty seconds of walking through the door. She's the kind of host who remembers how you like your chai and makes the whole room feel like her living room. Now, the food. The Chana Masala is deeply spiced, rich with tomato and chickpeas, the kind of dish that makes you question every mediocre version you've had before. The Saag is silky, fragrant, and genuinely soulful -- spinach that actually tastes like something. And the Onion Kulcha? Pillowy, caramelized, absolutely yummy -- the kind of bread you'll be tearing into long after you're full. The flavors here are the real thing -- bold, layered, and unapologetically authentic. This isn't watered-down, please-everyone Indian food. This is the genuine article, executed with care and a distinctly British-Indian sensibility that you rarely find outside of London. Every dish tastes like someone's nana's recipe, if that nana happened to be a brilliant chef. Do yourself a favor: add some spice to your life and get yourself to Jaz Indian Cuisine. Hell's Kitchen doesn't know how lucky it is.
