After a failed booze run to TJ's, I headed for home racking my brain for a liquor store that might be open on Christmas. Fortunately, like a beacon, the lights of USA Beverage called out to me. The store isn't huge, but it has a decent selection of beer. You'll find a nice array of domestics in bottles, cans, sixers and cases. If you're on the hunt for craft beer or imports, you'll probably be disappointed; the selection was mostly mainstream brands like Sierra Nevada, Goose Island and Guinness. I was hoping to pick up some Strongbow, but didn't see it or any hard ciders. The one thing I didn't like was that there weren't prices next to many of the items. This place is convenient, but when I'm not on the hunt for emergency booze, I'd probably head over to Famous. They have a much more robust selection.

I've suggested it to many friends as the best place in Logan Square to get natural wines. Typically the people who work here are very helpful. There was a guy who no longer seems to be around who was especially welcoming and knowledgeable in the past. My most recent visit was astounding, in a bad way. I was "helped" by an extremely condescending and belittling woman while trying to buy 8-10 bottles of wine for a large family dinner. Perhaps it's easy to forget that some people don't know everything about wine when you're surrounded by it all day, I'm not sure how else anybody could justify acting the way she did. Every question I asked was met with a response that almost seemed mocking. I could barely believe the way she was speaking to me until my partner commented how incredibly unkind she seemed. I'm leaving two stars because the wines are really good, and I've never encountered this person before, so perhaps it was a fluke. But I'll never shop here again, because I won't be able to forgot how awful she made me feel. And not only that, but because I had suggested the shop to others. I just hope none of them have to deal with the wrath of this abusive natural wine step mom. I go out of my way to shop at speciality curated stores, especially when they're good at what they do and I'm made to feel welcome. And how good they are would almost deserve another star, but employing a bully like her in 2021 is disappointing. I almost feel melodramatic because of how let down I feel. The original bartender disappeared without taking my food order . I had to get the attention of the following bartender to order a goddess salad w no onion. The salad came with onions, (no big deal I'll pick them off). Finished said salad and beer (not once was i acknowledged during that time). I sat there with an empty beer glass & a plate with onions for about 10-15 mins. At this point no one else is at the bar.. (early eve 730).. the bartender scraped off plates into the garbage directly in front of me several times yet failed to look up every single time . She finally returns , grabs the plate , scrapes off the onions and asked if i'd like anything else . (she took the order, she should have noticed and acknowledges the onion error ). I opted for a short pour but i would have ordered a burger and at least two more beers had there been any presence of customer service. (This doesn't fall just on the bartender, there were several opportunities for others to notice a patron at the bar with an empty beer glass and empty plate for too long a time). Management and Staff need training. Pros: Salad was great but small. Beer was great, nice selection.
