So lucky to have stumbled on this place. It was around the corner from our lodging in a neighborhood with no other restaurants, but it looked so cute (and the menu so good) when we walked by that we just booked it for that night. Found out later it usually books out a week or more in advance, but a large party had canceled. This is one of those chef-used-to-have-a-Michelin-star places; artsy elegant dining room, excellent professional service, and fabulous food, but more relaxed than places still trying to get or hang on to stars.
Food was just all around outstanding. Four of us got the daily menu (would liked to have had 2 daily menus and 2 special house menus but that was verboten, sadly), plus a couple add ons. AMAZING prawns, sweet and just cooked enough. A navarin of asparagus with a dreamy egg. Fried mussels, crunchy coated cod, an easy but delightful dessert of strawberry and chocolate bites. A surprisingly affordable bottle of good champagne. Outstanding, prompt, friendly service. Gorgeous dining room(s), comfortably and thoughtfully appointed.
My favourite meal of nearly 3 weeks eating my way through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden. Wish it were in my home neighborhood :) read more
