Seasonal Gooey Butter Cake Concrete
Kylie C.

Great quick way to get a sweet treat. I went looking to order the Biscoff concrete I got last time but they didn't have it anymore since it was seasonal. I ordered the Gooey Butter Cake concrete and was not disappointed.! It was so good. Also seasonal. Definitely going back again soon.

Everything definitely leans on the sweeter side so perfect for a sweet tooth. Loved the regular peach cobbler, it was served warm with a side of ice cream which went perfectly. The cobbler itself had lots of peaches and tasted fresh and comforting. We also ordered the strawberry peach cobbler, but didn't love the strawberry component as much as I expected. Honestly, I preferred the classic peach cobbler on its own. The space was bright and clean, and the service was very friendly. The staff member took the time to walk us through all the options, which was helpful because there are tons of toppings and ways to customize the desserts and cookies. They're also testing out a food menu. I didn't try any of the savory items since I came strictly for dessert, but it's nice to see them expanding and offering more variety. We are looking forward to trying the stuffed cinnamon roll next!

It's a larger menu than I expected and now they're even offering savory lunch options. My negative is that our rolls were not as fresh and a bit stale. We had purchased it around 11:30am. The flavor was there but the texture was disappointing.

My husband and I absolutely loved Bakery 1908! It's such a fun experience from the minute you walk…read morein. You grab a tray and a pair of tongs and make your way through the bakery, with separate glass display cases for the sweet and savory pastries. You just pick whatever looks good -- which is dangerous because everything looks good! First of all, the prices are fantastic. Most of the buns are under $4. My absolute favorite was the ham and cheese bun. The bun is slightly sweet and the ham and cheese are savory, and the combination is SO good. The blueberry bun was another favorite -- it almost had a blueberry cheesecake flavor. We also tried the curry bun, which was delicious. We ordered several of the hot items too. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) were outstanding. They have a delicate steamed wrapper filled with plump, juicy shrimp, and these were honestly some of the best I've ever had. I've eaten in multiple restaurants in Chinatown in both Los Angeles and San Francisco, so that's saying a lot! The Shanghai dumplings, which are little soup dumplings filled with meat and broth, were also delicious. We also tried the steamed pork ribs. The flavor was very good, but steamed pork has a different appearance and there were some fatty pieces. I'm glad we tried them, but they're probably the one thing I wouldn't order again. Another huge plus was the pricing on the hot food -- every hot entrée we looked at was under $10. Between the two of us, we ordered seven different things, couldn't even finish everything, and our entire check was only $46. Great quality, great variety, and an incredible value. I will definitely be back. I was going to say I wish there were one closer to us...but maybe it's a good thing there isn't, because I would probably eat those ham and cheese buns every day! Five stars!

Extremely disappointing customer service, especially from the manager…read more I placed an order for two milk tea drinks at 1:24 PM. While waiting, I watched another customer receive her drinks even though I was already ahead of her by approximately four customers in line. At 1:32 PM, I approached the gentleman at the counter to ask about my order. He did not greet me or acknowledge me. He looked at my receipt, looked at his watch, and dismissively said, "It's not even 10 minutes." He then asked me, "What do you want to do?" When I asked what he meant, he told me I could either wait or get my money back. He checked in the back and came back telling me it would be another five minutes. I agreed to wait. Five minutes later, instead of simply addressing the delay or apologizing, he told me I could grab a bun while I waited. I explained that I already had a bun and that, considering the inconvenience and the way the situation was handled, I felt a discount would have been an appropriate gesture. Instead, he offered to refund my money and gave me another receipt without the drinks. The most disappointing part was Norman, the manager. At no point did he apologize, acknowledge the inconvenience, or make any genuine effort to resolve the situation professionally. As a manager, I expected him to step in, listen to the customer, and demonstrate some level of courtesy and accountability. Instead, his attitude left me with the very clear impression that he simply did not care whether he had my business or not. I completely understand that a bakery can get busy and that orders can sometimes take longer than expected. The issue wasn't simply the wait--it was the attitude and the complete lack of customer service. A simple apology and a professional response could have completely changed the experience. Unfortunately, I left feeling dismissed and unappreciated as a customer. Management should understand that customers remember how they are treated, especially when something goes wrong. I will not be returning, and I hope the owners take this feedback seriously and address how customers are being treated by management.

I was…read moreimmediately intrigued when I learned of the creation of the company and the fact that it was named after the owners' 3 children as depicted in their logo. They had some incredible deals going on for local customers which caught my eye. Although I didnt order while I was in town I kept their information and decided to give them a try once I returned back to DC. I opted for the Party Pack so I could sample 3 different flavors. Im a super picky eater and not too big on desserts but I have a soft spot for caramel and cinnamon. I chose the salted caramel, snickerdoodle and vanilla sprinkle cookies. They arrived all in one piece due to the careful packaging. None of the cookies were damaged or broken. The cookies were amazing! They tasted even better than they looked! You can clearly taste the butter base used in the dough which def makes these cookies rich and stand our from the competitors! The shape and size is perfect for sharing or fulling enjoying by yourself. I ate them too quickly to have to worry abour storing them for freshness but I did decide to share a few with my coworkers and it definitely made their day. Next time I plan to warm them and see how they taste! The cookies themselves are a great value for a truly yummy sweetness. Be prepared to pay for shipping but it is 1000% worth it. I have yet to find cookies similar or better than these in the DC area. I'm already looking for their new and creative upcoming recipes to try out! This is a great way to support a black owned family business!

I opted for the twelve (12) mini cupcakes for about $24 and one six (6) gluten free mini cupcakes for about $15. It was a bit pricey but felt it was going to be worth it. Delivery came on time and the delivery driver was kind and very aware of the mini cupcakes, so they weren't ruined. While I understood we were getting a nice variety for the twelve minis, we couldn't pick or choose as we ordered online and it was being delivered. When received we did received a nice assortment but it would have been nice to see what were the flavors, maybe a sticker on bottom so people knew what they were getting. The cupcakes were really tiny, literally bite size. Decorated nicely. The frosting was over powering which made it super sweet. The cupcake itself was a bit dry and no flavor, which I guess was good cuz then it truly would have been over the top sweet. I don't want to knock the cupcakes or the business as I see her cakes are amazing but for the price it wasn't the best cupcakes. They left everyone lacking. As small as the mini cupcakes were they didn't go as quickly, normally desserts are the first to go. Just a bit disappointing, but I am optimistic and next time on an occasion I will try the cakes. And hey if you want try out the mini's - they may agree with your palette and flavor.
