The prices for what you get is ridiculous, and the atmosphere is rustic and western. You would think this was Steak 48 or Mastros looking at the reviews and seeing the prices. They could learn a lot from them. My husband had the ribeye ($95) that was over cooked and burnt tasting. My salmon ($58) was dry and the flavor (tasted pre frozen, not fresh) was lacking. The "wedge salad-".. the menu states "wedge salad" ($26) was very sparse and made with little gem lettuce (5 whole leaves), the summer melon salad ($24) was watermelon cubes with 4 cherry tomato halves with a tiny bit of basil chiffonade with topped with some inexpensive balsamic vinegar. My I had a cosmopolitan which was good, however the waiter suggested my husband try a margarita (found the price was $28.00 when the bill arrived!) . The waiter gave us a lesson in ordering steak. When my husband asked for medium rare plus, he said there is no such thing. He boasted about being a server for 10 years and that there's no such thing. He said it's an insult to the chef. Well we've been to many restaurants and many upscale Michelin restaurants and no one has ever corrected us in how we order our steak temperature. But thanks for your sage advise! Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the level of quality or value we expected. Spending $333.67 for a mediocre steak, salmon that did not taste fresh and was poorly seasoned, a few pieces of watermelon and cherry tomatoes, and an unusual five-leaf "wedge salad," along with two drinks, fell well short of what one would expect from a restaurant with San Francisco fine steakhouse pricing. Rather than responding defensively to constructive criticism, I would have hoped for a more thoughtful and professional reply. Got some fries just to sit with, they were great. 2 friends joined for dinner and we just got a ton of small plates. Pickles, Falafel, Numb Nums, Lamb meatballs, Kimchijeon were all great. Standouts for me because they were unique were the Numb Nums (which yes, numbed your tongue, weird) and the Kimchijeon (kimchi pancake). It seemed to be the place! Everyone we met throughout the day said it's the weekend spot. Waking into a good crowd, a DJ spinning, and drinks flowing we knew we were bound for a good time. We got a section on a couch with a table which was perfect for us to sit and people watch but also stand around to mingle and dance. The music was jamming, the delicious drinks were flowing, the vibes were vibing. We also had a good time enjoying the Photo Booth, there's a small fee for the photos and totally worth capturing the fun night. The place is very spacious and lots of room to sit, stand, hang around the bar, or even dance. I now know they serve food, so I'll definitely be returning to try some dishes and have some more cocktails. If you find yourself in the heart of wine country make sure you make Duke's a stop.
