Always a great enjoyable meal. Rack of lamb is as good as it gets. Lovely, brilliant owners. I miss these great people. Thanks again!

I was iffy of how it would be because of the sign out front, but I'm an American that loves…read moreAmerica, so we went in to give it a try. Sure people looked at us, but it felt like a lot of them were regulars since the servers knew some by name. Our server was wonderful and patient, she gave suggestions of what she liked and helped us decide. The portions were larger than I expected for the price. Loved the onion rings. They looked hand breaded and were crisp and hot when they came to the table. If we are in the area again I will be back to try other items on the menu.

Know that I am a city boy and this is in rural Indiana. Two thousand people live in Cloverdale. We stopped on our way to a sprint car race not far from here. There are just not many dining options. While I do not think usual clientele or others would be put off, there were some signs outside that warned you of their conservative political beliefs, warning you to not enter if this offends you. I did not. I went in and did not feel uncomfortable my the hospitality. Ambiance is basic. There is nothing fancy, but then again, it was just fine. I may seem prejudiced, but this comment is sincere and meant to be purely complimentary. My friend, from rural Indiana agreed. "This place brought to mind that it is where you go after the hay is stacked, the cows are in the barn, you are hungry and can get your fill of good food, cheap." The daily specials posted suggested I come back. Service bringing our order was slow, but our server apologized and explained a kitchen issue. No worries. We both ordered the quintessential Indiana sandwich - Pork Tenderloin. I got the grilled and he got the fried. Never in my life have I seen a meal called a "sandwich" that looked like this. The tenderloin was as big as a dinner plate. The bun looked a decoration more than the basis for a sandwich. The meat was easily twice or three times the diameter of the ornamental bun. Neither of us could even eat half. Deferring to my Hoosier native, he declared this one of the best tenderloins he ever had. Unfortunately, my grilled version was a bit dry. We have made tenderloins at home in TN. I cannot for the life of me figure out how they pounded that cut of meat into the shape they served.

Well they sure aren't kidding about the "on the tracks" part. If there were a window on the north…read morewall, you could reach out and smack a train as it roars by. And indeed one roared by as we were eating, and the whole place shook. That may not be the ambiance you're after for a nice quiet breakfast, but you're given fair warning by the name of the place if not its physical location. So the food was a mixed bag. My fried mushrooms looked promising at first by their hand-breaded appearance, but they arrived overcooked. My egg and sausage biscuit sandwich on the other hand was outstanding, and my wife's lone pancake -- she was correctly advised one would would suffice -- was the size of a hubcap and damn near could have fed both of us. There's no gilding the lily here, it's just straightforward heartland diner fare served with the ambiance, service, and smile to match, for about 11 bucks each all in -- drink, tax, tip, everything.

They have a daily soup of sausage potato cabbage and that was much better than it sounded! The Italian beef had a good texture but there was something I couldn't put my finger on a taste in it I didn't love. Didn't prevent me from eating it though! The salad was your typical salad. Nothing out of the ordinary but good. Overall a good lunch!
