I highly recommend Dr. Andrew Hung. From the 1st time we met for my console to the 1st post op appointment... hands down a class act. Dr. Hung is the most patient, compassionate, thorough Dr I've ever met. His care is 100% professional and super knowledgeable. I saw Dr. Hung twice in Pasadena for a cystoscope. After first visit I was asked if I had any allergies. I am allergic to sulfa drugs as I told Dr. Hung. So, what does he do, he has his nurse give me sulfa drug. On the second visit, for a cystoscope again, he pulls the catheter out of my so fast that he left me bruised and bloody. I had to go into Keck USC two days later with and infection and bad UTI. I would not go to this guy again. I was hoping he was no longer associated with USC. read more

Waited for 1hr 30 minutes with an appointment (apparently they forgot about me) Nurse showed much more care than a doctor itself. He felt rushed and didn't care much. No exam been made, he diagnosed my only from my words. At the end paid 400$ for a visit to get regular ibuprophen (wrong dosage tho) Good thing that i went to another doctor same week who was able to help. read more

Well, I found Dr. Hung on the Anthem website. He was listed as an in-network provider. I called for an appointment and got one scheduled a month later. And, although he's listed with an office in La Canada, they wouldn't schedule one there. I had to go to Pasadena Office. Not real timely! At the visit he assessed my issue and was reassuring. He said I should have come in sooner... I noted his staff was not willing to do anything earlier. He said, oh yea, new patients don't tend to get anything special. But, now that I've seen you you can tell that you've already seen me and you'll get a quicker appointment. So, I paid my co-pay for a specialist and was quite satisfied. However, a month later I get a bill from USC Care Medical Group for another $103 because of the way they bill.... "Split billing". Basically, I paid my co-pay for the specialist visit, but then he billed me for his office cost. Shouldn't that be in the office visit???? It has been with every other doctor I've ever visited. I called them and they said talk to your insurance company. I call the insurance company and they said it was caused by the way the Dr submitted the bill. This is just one more example of what is wrong with our healthcare system. These people are all money grubbing scoundrels. They lead us to believe the way the game is played... and then they use fine print and loopholes to squeeze more than twice what they stated it would cost. I believe this to be deceptive medical billing practices and possibly a breach of contract that is being widely played out on the American public. We need to nationalize them all and have a single payer system like other civilized countries. Until we can get there, I plan to investigate raising this unethical practice to the various regulatory boards, commissions and politicians to see what we can do to get it stopped. read more

WOW- where do I begin??!! Dr Andrew Hung and his staff are all amazing! Dr Hung is very professional and good at what he does! He explained all procedures and what to expect after my dads robotic prostateectomy. He is passionate about medicine and urology and it definitely shows! Coming from a medical background myself, Dr Hung put me at ease and explained all procedures and outcomes in lay-mans terms for my parents. This review is for Vasectomy Consultation only: Dr. Hung (perfect name for a urologist!) was very nice and I feel confident that he could have handled my procedure without complications. My problems were with the method of vasectomy and price. If you are looking for vasectomy and have done some research, you know that a "no scalpel" procedure is known to be less invasive and offers faster recovery time while reducing the chance of infection. Unfortunately dr hung does not offer this method and will use a scalpel to make two incisions requiring stitches. He did advise that he hasn't had a single failure which is great. I agreed to schedule my surgery after the state mandated 30 day waiting period. (Surgery is only available Monday or Tuesday) In this time, I started doing research. The consultation was billed to my (Anthem PPO) insurance at $390. I was responsible for my $40 copay for the consultation, but realized that the vasectomy itself was subject to my deductible of $500, then a 20% co insurance for the remaining balance. I spoke to a woman named Patricia who advised that dr hung charges $1200 for the surgery, but Huntington also charges $1500 for use of the operating room. That would have put my total out of pocket cost at $950, not including my previously paid deductible and parking. All in would be just shy of $1k. Dr Andrew Hung has a great bedside manner and I would definitely trust him, but cannot justify the cost seeing hat I have been quoted $6-800 BEFORE insurance at many other urologist offices in the area. I wish I would have researched prices before spending the afternoon and $40 copay meeting Dr Hung, but am glad I didn't jump into surgery to be surprised by a hefty bill at a later date. If your insurance offers a copay only for vasectomy, i would highly recommend dr hung.. Otherwise I would shop around as this fairly simple procedure can be done at a much more affordable price. read more

Dr. Hung might be a great surgeon, but as a doctor he is seriously lacking in communication and competency. I went to him to get results of radiology and he told me I had a tumor and gave me a few options. I was pretty stunned, but seemed to be pressured for an instant response when Dr. Hung looked at his watch. I opted to order another test and I made another appointment. The test was done but, when I went back, I wasn't given a copy of the report. Instead, Dr. Hung stated I had a benign cyst and never needed any follow-up. He reassured me that the best person in radiology read the test and it was correct. I asked him for a way to get a hold of him for questions and he stated that he didn't use the portal and any patient who had questions would have to make another appointment. Well, I finally did get the report, and the mass that was on the report was not the tumor that was supposed to get evaluated. The imaging I already had done prior (that caused him to tell me I had a tumor) was not given to the radiologist for comparison. If I didn't read my own report I would never have known about this error and get this tumor evaluated. Since I can't get any message to him on the portal, and now refuse to go back to him, I have another doctor ordering a different test and I need to find a new urologist. When I finally get answers elsewhere, maybe I will consider a formal complaint. Maybe that will help him tone down the arrogance and let himself listen to the patient, who is paying him and that he's supposed to be there to help. Update to this review and why I'm changing rating: Dr. Hung phoned me personally to apologize for all that happened. He took full responsibility and got the report redone. We had a fairly long talk and he stated that he acknowleges what happened and wants to make it right. It does take some humility and introspection to do that and to want to improve and make amends. Not sure if I will go back to him, but probably will. read more

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Hung to anyone looking for a urologist! Here is why: My father was recently diagnosed with a urological cancer, and we began to look for a urologist to be a part of our care. Immediately, USC's Institute of Urology stood out as one of the most experienced and innovative places in urological care, so we sought an appointment with Dr. Hung. I cannot say enough about how comfortable Dr. Hung made us feel about the treatment process when we first met with him. He clearly explained my father's disease to us, and reviewed all of our options. He answered our questions, listened to our concerns, and took the time to address our thoughts. After meeting him, my father and my family unanimously agreed that Dr. Hung had to be our surgeon because we felt that he was smart, confident, and personable. My father ultimately underwent a robotic procedure with Dr. Hung (Dr. Hung's specialty, as we found out from his page on the Institute of Urology website). After a 2 day hospital stay, my father was discharged home. The team taking care of my father was excellent. With Dr. Hung at the helm, there were fellows, residents, PAs, and nurses with a variety of expertise areas around. From addressing his post-operative care to his diet to further planning, it felt like every part of my father's care was well thought out. In hindsight, Keck was a phenomenal hospital. Everyone was friendly, the rooms were upscale, and everyone seemed focused on making my father comfortable and cared for. Follow up visits were effortless and easy to schedule. A few months out, and my father is almost as good as new! And it is thanks to Dr. Hung and his team! We could not have wished for a better surgeon and team to help us through a tough time! read more

In my mind, a great doctor would have not only the clinical expertise, but would also have great resources and an ancillary staff that could work towards the patient's convenience. Nice guy but lacks experience. Too young. Did not prep before the surgery. Went thru another surgery operate by a machine with robotic hands. After surgery did not monitor closely and listen to patient's concern and symptoms. Urethral reimplant surgery failed. Took too long to find out and damage the kidney. In the end Keck made this right, I had to re do the visit with a more detailed physician who found the cause of my issue. Keck is a wonderful place. Stay away from this Disappointing Doctor. Also the billing department and the Doctor's office do not communicate. Horrible! Dr Haung did not participate in interviewing me on my issues, or any part of my examination or testing. He spent about three minutes with me delivering his orders, and ran away when I attempted to ask him questions. Don't come here if you're expecting to see a urologist. The doctor spent probably less than three minutes with me. He seemed, in a big rush or arrogant, and seemed offended when I tried to ask him a question. I tried again to ask a question and he walked away. The staff was on top of things. Prompt, professional, courteous, pretty much everything you could ask for. They seemed thorough and well trained. Then there's the billing department. They were very good about collecting my copayment. When my bill arrived, my copayment was was not showing on it. I wrote and called let them know. I received a second bill with the copayment not reflected. I also contacted the billing department to ask for a detailed bill, since bill I received had no detail on it. Just like with the copayment, I just received a second bill with no detail. I spent 20 years in the medical billing industry and plan to audit codes for correctness once received. If you have the same issue with getting a detailed bill, you may be able to get one from your insurance carrier that will allow you to see if the physician has used the correct code for the amount of time they spent with you. read more

Dr Hung treated a family friend for advanced kidney cancer. From the first visit through surgery and postop, he was super thorough and compassionate.
